Snow, ski gear and snowmobiles were on display at Tavistock’s 2nd Annual Après Ski event. Whether sipping espresso martinis around the fire pits or dancing with the band and DJ under the tent, it was an event to remember. Members and guests wore their best ski party gear with retro colors, lots of fur and goggles galore. The open bar, food and s’mores stations were a hit and the weather cooperated perfectly. If you didn’t make it, we hope to see you after a day on the slopes next year!

TCC Women’s Golf Association Update
WOMEN’S 9 & 18 HOLE GROUPS
MaryKay MaleyGet Ready…Get Set… Spring is almost here, and that means the women’s golf season will soon be here. As a reminder, all women who are Club members with golfing privileges are automatically members of the Tavistock Women’s Golf Association. Our ladies’ league hosts both a 9-hole and an 18-hole group, and you can play in either group or both. There is even a “3’s For Me” group for beginner golfers, which the pro shop runs. Play days are Tuesday mornings for the 18-hole group and Wednesday mornings for 9-hole play. Either day, you can just come to play for fun or opt-in for whatever competitive game is offered. Also, we are providing a new flexible scheduling option for those who wish to play less than 18 holes on Tuesdays. If you are interested in learning more about our programs, please get in touch with Karen Thornton (18-Holers) at thornton37@comcast.net, Meral Smith (9-Holers) at meralk@aol.com, or the Pro-Shop for the “3’s For Me” Program. More information regarding our ladies’ golf program will be coming via e-mail and in next month’s newsletter.

Congratulations to Tavistock’s own John Plower for being appointed to the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust Board of Trustees for 2024.
The Trust’s mission is to financially aid and empower qualified caddies and those working in golf operations in their pursuit of higher education. Since 1958, more than $26 million has been awarded to more than 3,750 caddies.

Congratulations Jack O’malley!
The Haddonfield Lions Club has named Jack (John E.) O’Malley its 2024 Citizen of the Year. Ironically, he was presented his award at Tavistock at the Mayoral breakfast held on January 20th.
His dedication to the quality of life in Haddonfield is evident through his involvement in numerous organizations, including the Haddonfield Foundation, the Haddonfield Memorial High School athletic hall of fame and the civic association.

Jack Tarditi, former mayor and a member of the Haddonfield Lions Club, called O’Malley a “son of the borough,” noting that his parents also had a history of serving the town. “His volunteering makes Haddonfield a special place to live, makes it a better town,” Tarditi said.
Jack is the 52nd recipient to receive the citizen’s award. The Haddonfield Area Lions Club is a service organization that supports community events and activities and assists those in need, particularly those with sight-related issues, locally and globally. Lions Clubs International is the largest service organization in the world. Thank you for all the work you do in the community and for TCC.

What do you like about your current position?
If you have had a chance to spend much time with me, you would know that I have a passion for golf that just doesn’t end. The fact that I have a full golf facility right outside my office is a perfect match for me. I sincerely enjoy playing, competing, teaching and sharing everything golf.
Where did you work prior to Tavistock?
I have had the pleasure of working at countless high end private clubs. In the Philly area I was an assistant at St. Davids Golf Club, Philadelphia Country Club and Overbrook Golf Club. Prior to moving to the Philadelphia Section, I was an assistant at Hollywood Golf Club, Deal Country Club and Due Process Stable in Monmouth County. I have worked at a handful of others from New Mexico to Florida.
Do you have any pets?
Well, they’re my kid’s pets but you know who takes care of them. We have a tank full of fish, a hamster named Marsh and a Shih Tzu named Mollie.
What are some things you like to do when you’re not working?
This one drives my wife nuts, but when I’m not working, I love to play golf. I play in about 20 professional events per year, and if I get a chance to get out and play with friends, fellow pros and members, that is what I enjoy the most. I love spending time with my family. We have 2 girls, Grace (9 years old) and June (4 years old). They are a blast.
Do you collect anything?
Not on purpose. I have a million golf clubs, because you never know when they may start working again.
Do you have a favorite holiday tradition?
Nothing traditional other than spending time with family and friends. We usually go back to Wisconsin in December, which is a blast for me because that’s home for me and my kids love it because there’s usually several feet of snow on the ground.

Scenic Views of TCC
Do you have a scenic photo taken on the Club grounds that you would like to share?
If so, email Michelle Scianni at mscianni@tavistockcc.com. We may publish it in a future Newsletter or Tavizine.

2023.

Beverage Corner
HOW IS IT NOT SPRING?
Anthony Walko, Assistant Food & Beverage Director

As I sit here writing to you all, there is a sense of confusion that I think we all experience this time of year. Yesterday it was 53 degrees, and I was able to golf, and today snowfall covers the grounds of Tavistock. The Super Bowl has been played, and no baseball is on TV. We are in the midst of this strange transition between winter and spring that sometimes can make us feel, well, blah. The question that remains is, how do you deal with blah? My answer: hot beverages. There is nothing like the warmth of a cup of coffee in the morning, an afternoon tea, or that post dinner espresso. Michelle, Emily, and the team at The Bean on the Green have been whipping up some delicious drinks that will make you and your soul feel cozy while you long to be sitting outside. The first drink that comes to mind is The London Fog. Earl grey tea, Violette and vanilla syrups, and frothed milk come together for a floral hug in a cup. If you wanted to spruce this up for an adult version, you could purchase Crème de Violette for that elegant hit of liqueur in your London Fog. For the liquor free version, you can find Violette syrup on your favorite online marketplace rather easily. So, whether coffee or tea is your go to, make sure you swing by The Bean on the Green for your favorite drink to get you through the rest of winter.
P.S. Don’t miss out on Chef Vita’s scones. The everything seasoned scone with cream cheese is just glorious.
London Fog Recipe:
8oz steeped earl grey tea
1 tsp Violette syrup
2 tsp vanilla syrup
4oz steamed milk
