MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Tulsa Area United Way’s record-breaking centennial year fundraising in 2024 secured our ability to care for the community in new ways as we enter the next 100 years of service. As part of our centennial celebrations, we launched Unite Forever: Endowing the Future of Tulsa Area United Way. I’m happy to share that we exceeded our centennial goal of $10 million in endowment commitments – and TAUW’s second century of impact is just beginning!

We are investing in fresh solutions to complex problems through Social Innovations Grants. We are collaborating throughout our region to address chronic absenteeism, homelessness, and childhood hunger. When disaster hits, we’re connecting our neighbors in need to critical resources through 211 of Eastern Oklahoma. We are united for working families and committed to creating pathways to financial security, so every member of our community has the opportunity to thrive.

When this vital service was on the verge of shutting down, the community turned to Tulsa Area United Way for help. Recognizing the urgent need, TAUW met the challenge, with significant investments and a commitment to manage and enhance the program beginning June 1, 2023. In just two years, 211 Eastern Oklahoma has answered approximately 440,000 requests for help related to food, housing, utility assistance, and more.

We have been blessed to call Tulsa home for over forty-five years and quickly discovered that Tulsa’s greatest asset is its people. Supporting the Tulsa Area United Way has been the most effective and efficient way to support our greatest asset, and the opportunity to continue to do this after we are gone through an estate gift is a privilege and honor.

DISTRIBUTIONS AND GOVERNANCE

The Unite Forever endowment fund is held at Tulsa Community Foundation and subject to spending policies as determined by the Finance Committee of the TAUW board.

No distributions will be made until the fund has realized a balance of $3,000,000.

Following that milestone, annual distributions will not exceed 4% of the trailing three-year average market value of the fund.

The TAUW board holds final authority for approving purpose, changing financial policy, and taking distributions from the fund.
