HAIRY MACLARY COURTYARD OPENS Tauranga City Library was packed out last month with families, friends and distinguished guests for the grand opening of the Hairy Maclary and Friends courtyard. Dame Lynley Dodd, Mayor Stuart Crosby and Bill Holland of Legacy Trust were there to officially open the courtyard, with Mayor Stuart Crosby putting the finishing touches on the courtyard by attaching Slinky Malinky to the wall. There were dogs to pat and stories read aloud while 50 lucky families queued to meet Dame Lynley. Lynley’s hands must have been aching by the time she’d signed the last book but she didn’t show it, entertaining her fans with endless anecdotes about her time creating the Hairy Maclary and Friends family. Dame Lynley Dodd were incredibly supportive of the courtyard project and Legacy Trust was wonderfully generous in providing the funding. Come along to our Adult Colouring Club on the last Wednesday of each month from 10:30 – 11:30, on the ground floor of Tauranga City Library.
