Cheelin Restaurant has enjoyed more than 22 years of service, and in the process has made its mark on the Halifax restaurant scene. Fanny Chen came to Canada in 1989. She studied cooking in China and learned more upon arriving in Canada. In 1995, she and her husband Mark opened their small but charming restaurant in the Brewery market building.
We have a strong desire to bring back the practice of farm-to-table cooking in everyday living. For the past decade plus, this attitude has produced remarkable service and a nationally recognized, award-winning cuisine, which includes Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards (2014) Casual Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year. The Brasserie is a place where neighbours, friends, and travellers gather in a warm and inviting atmosphere while enjoying some of the best food and drink available on the East Coast. With owner, chef and general manager Ludovic Eveno at the helm, The Brasserie appeals to a wide variety of tastes. It offers 12 local beers on tap, a variety of wines and spirits, and serves home-style cooking with house-made pasta, charcuterie, breads and desserts.
