1496 Lower Water St., Halifax 902-422-2252 www.cheelinrestaurant.ca

Located in Halifax’s vibrant North End, Agricola Street Brasserie is a neighbourhood restaurant and bar, with a focus on seafood and pasta. Our chefs are passionate about working with sustainable seafood companies who source their products along our coast, in the Gulf of Maine, and along the Atlantic Seaboard; this means showcasing the full range of seafood that the Maritimes has to offer.

Located in downtown Dartmouth, one of Canada’s hottest go-to neighbourhoods, Battery Park features 15 rotating beer bar taps inside, and four more outside in our very popular Backyard Patio -- all showcasing the very best of Nova Scotia’s craft beer lineup.

Brooklyn Warehouse takes its cue from simple, honest food, and strives to bring you an affordable indulgence in a laidback bistro atmosphere. We work with our rural producers, local markets, and regional suppliers to create seriously good food from fresh. The abundance that Nova Scotia has to offer is showcased through our ever-changing chalkboard menus.

Cheelin Restaurant has enjoyed more than 22 years of service, and in the process has made its mark on the Halifax restaurant scene. Fanny Chen came to Canada in 1989. She studied cooking in China and learned more upon arriving in Canada. In 1995, she and her husband Mark opened their small but charming restaurant in the Brewery market building.

We have a strong desire to bring back the practice of farm-to-table cooking in everyday living. For the past decade plus, this attitude has produced remarkable service and a nationally recognized, award-winning cuisine, which includes Taste of Nova Scotia Prestige Awards (2014) Casual Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year. Join us for lunch and dinner, featuring the most affordable curated wine program in the city!

Thanks to its long-standing reputation for authentic Chinese cuisine, the use of local fresh ingredients, and warm, inviting service, Cheelin has been listed as The Best Chinese Restaurant in Halifax - from 1996 to 2015 - in Where to eat in Canada. Cheelin Restaurant offers gluten-free options and is open 6 days a week. Visit our second location, Cheelin express, at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ market, Tuesday to Sunday.

Morris East is a creative neighborhood restaurant with two locations: in downtown Halifax and Bedford. Our delicious gourmet pizzas are baked in fired ovens, which produce a delicious crust.

Nova Scotia Community College’s ‘Fresh Twenty One’ is an opportunity for the public to participate in providing our hospitality and culinary/pastry students with a “real world”training experience in a full-service restaurant, and in return, enjoy modern, world cuisine of the highest quality, at very reasonable prices.

Back in 2009, siblings Heather and Christian Rankin hatched a plan to create something a little different in Halifax. A wine bar that was both informal yet special; social yet cozy. A neighbourhood spot where people would meet for memorable wine and food, with service that was engaged and unscripted.

Propeller Brewing Company has been Halifax’s North End craft brewery for over 20 years. Propeller focuses on handcrafted, small-batch beer with time-honoured methods that produce distinct, full-bodied tastes and aromas. This commitment to quality lead to our IPA being the best-selling craft beer in Atlantic Canada for the past decade.

What resulted was Obladee. Obladee combines the international concept of a wine bar, with our unique Nova Scotian spirit and hospitality. We offer an awardwinning wine list that is hand-selected, off-beat, and ever-changing.

Visit our newly redesigned tasting room to sample our wide variety of beer. There’s always something fresh from our Gottingen Small Batch series: limited edition new brews dreamed up by our head brewer. For soda lovers, we have our refreshing Ginger Beer and Root Beer.

5212 Morris St., Halifax 620 Nine Mile Dr., Bedford 902-444-7663 www.morriseast.com

With a focus on seasonally fresh ingredients, regulars to our intimate eateries will note that the menu changes seasonally. Pizzas with peach, prosciutto, and goat cheese one month, followed by pear, walnut, and crispy sage the next. We’re also a hot spot for seasonallyinspired cocktails and great desserts like the salted caramel tart, which are perfect to enjoy on our lovely outside terraces in summer. We offer special lunch and brunch menus. Take-out and gluten-free pizza crusts are also available. Please refer to our website for hours of operation.

Like the building of a historical Saltbox house, brewing small batches of quality beer is a deeply rooted expression of heritage and craftmanship found in Nova Scotia. In those days, most brewing and drinking was done in the home. The resurgence of craft brewing marks a renaissance of the kind of local brewing that took place before the industrial revolution – when making beer was a standard household chore as integral as baking bread. Incorporating the iconic Maritime architecture of the saltbox house into our logo is our nod to the notion that quality, small-batch beer brewing started in the home. At Saltbox Brewing Company, we celebrate the development of the skills and artistry required to create fresh, fullflavoured beer for consumption by the local community. Our motto: “Think social, and drink local.” Please refer to the website for hours of operation.

TASTE OF NOVA SCOTIA AWARD 2017 PRODUCER OF THE YEAR Benjamin Bridge is Canada’s most acclaimed sparkling wine house, nestled in Nova Scotia’s picturesque Gaspereau Valley. Its cool climate is moderated by the powerful Bay of Fundy – promoting natural acidities and a long ‘hang-time’ of the classic Champagne varietals, which are critical to producing sparkling wines of richness, structure, and finesse. Primarily a traditional method sparkling wine producer, Benjamin Bridge’s portfolio is also comprised of brisk, aromatic whites – wines that take full advantage of the same, unique climatic traits that produce world-class sparklings. Nova 7, coined “Nova Scotia’s iconic wine,” pioneered an effervescent, off-dry style in the province, crafted on a foundation of quintessential freshness. Crystany’s Brasserie is the first 100 per cent certified gluten-free restaurant in Canada with the Gluten Free Food Program. Nestled on Main Street in Canning it is the only green building on the block.

Here, all the elements perfectly align. Avondale Sky Winery is Atlantic Canada’s Winery of the year 2015 & 2016.

The story begins with Simon Giffen, the first Giffen family ancestor to arrive in Nova Scotia. He came to Halifax in 1749, from Northern Ireland, and practiced his trade as a very successful distiller. Little did Simon know that his family name would live on and the distilling tradition would be revived a full nine generations later. Today’s quality lineup of vodkas, rums, and liqueurs are made with the finest ingredients and water from a natural artisan spring, deep beneath rural Nova Scotia. Visitors have the opportunity to view the distillery and learn the fascinating process of creating world class spirits. While viewing, visitors may taste any products they wish, discovering unique cocktail ideas, and genuinely great tastes.

Crystany’s is family friendly with a beautiful deck that overlooks the Habitant River. Serving gourmet meals prepared with only the freshest locally sourced produce (when in season), we ensure the quality of our dishes by the quality of our ingredients. Everything on our menu, from our sauces up, is made in-house by our very talented chef. Our goal is to educate the public that eating gluten-free is no different then eating products with gluten, and that most food is naturally gluten-free if made at home. Please visit our website for hours of operation.

Le Caveau Restaurant is situated at Domaine de Grand Pre, Nova Scotia’s premier winery. Named one of the 20 World’s Best Winery Restaurants in 2011, the family-owned-and-operated property offers a charming dining room, an inviting grapevine-covered patio and a stunning harvest table in our wellmanicured vineyards.

Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards is located in the heart of the Annapolis Valley’s most privileged wine growing subregion -- on the edge of the UNESCO site of Grand Pre and bordering the town of Wolfville -- where currently they nurture over 37 acres of vines. Close proximity to the Minas Basin, cool breezes and excellent temperature moderation help create wines with great distinction.

Chef Jason Lynch specializes in global cuisine with emphasis on fresh and locally farmed ingredients. As you enjoy a glass of locally produced wine, beer or cider, or indulge in one of the various international offerings off our Wine Spectator awarded beverage list, you will enjoy a relaxing, old-world-style atmosphere.

The Lightfoot family are eighth generation farmers who began transitioning this ancient Acadian land toward organic and biodynamic viticulture eight years ago. Passionate winegrowers, they believe great wines are grown in the vineyard.

Join us for lunch, dinner or a drink on the patio, lively music on Thursday nights during July and August, or a romantic dinner followed by a stroll through the vineyards, overlooking the Grand Pre UNESCO site and Minas Basin. We can’t wait to welcome you to Le Caveau!

Their focus is on classic Burgundianinspired Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Riesling and other German-styled white wines, as well as traditional method prestige cuvee sparkling wines. Wines can be found at: Bishop’s Cellar, Halifax, Wolfville Farmers’ Markets, the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market, as well as select NSLC stores across the province.

Wayfarers’ Ale

1116 Kars St., Port Williams 902-542-7462 www.wayfarersale.ca

Wayfarers’ Ale came together in 2012 as a group of local craft beer enthusiasts developing their own beers. After a lot of experimenting and tasting, we gravitated toward some interesting heritage beers that go well with foods. The name Wayfarers’ is a tribute to an old custom in England where medieval travellers (Wayfarers) would stop at local churches, knock on the door and be given a small horn of ale and a piece of bread to help and refresh them along their way. Located at the wharf in Port Williams, the brewery offers an amazing view of the ever-changing tides, from the upstairs patio. Take an opportunity to have a brewhouse tour and then relax in the upstairs taproom with some great food and ale. As one customer said, “I absolutely recommend a visit to Wayfarers’. Excellent brewery tour, excellent beer and a great overall story. A standout brewery amongst all the craft brewers.”

Our experience in restaurants in Australia, London, Ireland and Canada has shown us that the best meals are made with the food found literally in our own backyards. Lobster, scallops, goose-tongue greens, humanely raised pork as well as garden vegetables and herbs travel the short distance from our backyard, or the harbour across the street, to your plate. These tastes, which are special to this part of the world, inspired us to renovate our century home into the Wild Caraway Restaurant and Café. We provide guests with affordable, delicious, locally sourced meals served in a uniquely colourful setting overlooking the world-famous tides of the Bay of Fundy. See the taste. Margaret Cornect is passionate about bees and has been keeping bees for 24 years. What began with two hives being placed on the family farm to pollinate their blueberry fields, resulted in a successful pollination and a delicious by-product: honey - minimally processed from the hive to your table.

There’s lots to explore on the Eastern Shore!

With our location on the beautiful Eastern Shore, we are very lucky to be able to serve fresh local seafood every day.
