We have specially selected llala Lodge, the closest hotel to the actual Victoria Falls, as the starting point for this Explorer Safari. Your beautifully appointed room looks out towards the rising mist of the Falls less than a mile away. Wild animals, such as warthog, mongoose, impala, and hippo often graze on the hotel lawns. www.ilalalodge.com After a leisurely breakfast and any morning activity, you will meet up with your fellow guests and your Tasimba hosts, Hugh and Heather, in the hotel lobby at 12:30 pm for a short walk to an unforgettable luncheon. Perched on the edge of the 350 ft. vertical walls of the gorge below Victoria Falls, is the Lookout Cafe offering delicious food, staggering views and exceptional service. Try the Zambezi bream or the crocodile kebab - they're amazing! After lunch, we will guide you on a tour of the Falls. Absolutely breathtaking! Prepare to be awestruck by the sheer volume of water thundering into the gorge below. We'll provide ponchos because the water vapor that rises up 1,500 ft. from the Falls condenses into steady rain that creates the world's only 24/7/365 rain forest! Beautiful and refreshing! After we return to the hotel, we'll celebrate the end of our first day together with sundowners at the pool bar. You can see the spray and hear the sounds of the Falls, while enjoying your favorite cocktail. Today we travel from Victoria Falls to Wilderness Safaris' Davison's Camp, your accommodation for the next three nights in Hwange National Park. Hwange is the largest National Park in Zimbabwe (5,500 sq. miles) and is home to over 100 mammal and 400 bird species. After an early breakfast, we will transfer from the hotel to Victoria Falls Airport Domestic Terminal. There we will board a Wilderness Air light aircraft for the 40 minute flight to the Linkwasha Airstrip in the exclusive, wildlife-rich Wilderness Safaris concession in the southeast area of the Park. After meeting our guides with welcome refreshments at the airstrip, we'll enjoy a leisurely 90-minute safari to camp, stopping of course to see wildlife along the way. We'll arrive at camp to a warmly welcoming reception in the late morning. Davison's is nestled in a grove of False Mopane trees, overlooking a large waterhole that is frequented by a wide range of animals, particularly in the mornings and evenings. Following brunch, we'll show you to your comfortable, light and airy tented room for an authentic safari camp experience. After 'Africa Time', a quiet time for relaxation to absorb the ambiance of the wilderness, we'll have afternoon tea followed by an evening safari - including the traditional sundowners, of course. Dinner back at camp will be in the open-air Boma (weather permitting), followed by gathering round the campfire. Our days in camp will follow a classic safari pattern. Your 'wakey-wakey' call at dawn will be followed by a light breakfast. For the morning safari, you will have the option of a 4X4 drive or a professionally guided walk in the wild. In addition to elephant and giraffe, you can expect to see herds of zebra, wildebeest, impala, eland, buffalo and sable enjoying the plentiful grazing on the famed savannahs of Ngamo Plains, Back Pans and Scott's Pan. And where there are grazing herds, you know there will be predators too, especially lion and cheetah. Each day in camp we will hold an lndaba - an informal conversation modeled after local custom. In the weeks before the start of the trip, we will send you some pre-reading material to give you some background thinking on topics like conservation, anti-poaching, tracking (in the wild and in life), and more. Our Tasimba lndabas add unique depth and perspective to enrich your entire safari experience. Daily favorites like brunch, Africa time, sundowners, dinner and campfire are of course an important part of every safari. You'll find there's plenty of great food and refreshments always available. Your Tasimba Explorer Safari will bring you inspiration, great conversation, laughter and camaraderie every day - and we will often have special surprises for you too! Day 6 & 7: Monday/Tuesday, May 9th & 10th

Spoiler alert - you're going to love this place! Our days in camp will follow a pattern similar to those you experienced at Davison's. Early morning 'wakey-wakey', a light breakfast and then your morning activity. Here, as before, you will have the option of a 4X4 drive or a walking safari but, in addition, you may choose a river activity - a boat safari or a paddle down the river in a canoe. As well as elephant and buffalo, you can expect to see zebra, impala, eland, kudu and waterbuck grazing on the flood plains. Common predators here include lion, painted dogs, leopard, cheetah - and crocodiles. Our lndabas at Ruckomechi will be enhanced by the beautiful and totally different wilderness: the river, the wildlife, the riverine forest and the distant escarpment. Our topics are designed to inspire you, to take you deeper in your immersion in this amazing environment, and to embed lifelong take-aways in your mind, your heart and your soul. As well of course, we'll have brunch, 'Africa Time', teatime, sundowners, dinner and campfire as part of this safari experience. You will never forget the beauty and peaceful serenity of Ruckomechi! Today we sadly come to the end of your Tasimba Explorer Safari. We hope that we will have inspired your mind, heart and soul with deeply etched memories of Africa and of an 8-day journey of exploration that will forever live with you. We hope too that what you saw, felt and experienced here will impact you in some way in both your personal and professional life. As our guests leave at the end of their Tasimba week, they often tell us that it's like saying goodbye to lifelong friends with whom they have shared wonderful experiences in incredibly special places. We aim to make it the same for you! After breakfast, you will leave camp for the short drive to Mana West Airstrip for your flight (1 ¼ hours) to Harare International Airport (HRE). This flight is timed to enable you to connect with outbound flights to international destinations. Please note: A return flight to Victoria Falls Airport is available but does not connect with same day international departures. It is an option for guests who wish to stay a night in Victoria Falls or proceed from there to other regional destinations. Please discuss your options with us.

This itinerary has been created exclusively for guests of the Tasimba Explorer Safari starting on May 4th, 2022 and ending on May 11th, 2022. The all-inclusive cost of the 8-day safari is $12,750 per person in shared accommodation and $15,500 in single accommodation. A maximum of 3 single accommodations are available. This pricing is based on a minimum of 9 bookings being confirmed with deposits by May 4th, 2021. A deposit of $4,000 per person with a signed Travel Agreement is required with booking, with the balance due on January 4th, 2022. Please note that single guests in shared accommodation is not recommended on this itinerary. We reserve the right to adjust this itinerary when made necessary by circumstances beyond our control. In the event that recovery from the coronavirus pandemic makes postponement of the trip necessary, we will roll this itinerary forward to dates in April/May 2023 at the above costs.
