Fixed-term — 1-year contract, may be extended subject to funding 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week)

Stakeholder engagement, project management, community consultation, development and capacity-building

Summary of Position: The Smoking Cessation Project Officer is required to work with a high degree of autonomy in setting priorities, exercising initiative and professional judgement. The role is statewide and responsible for developing and fostering networks and relationships with TasCOSS Members, Department of Health funded organisations and other stakeholders throughout the duration of the project, from development to implementation. The role will be required to carry out extensive stakeholder engagement and community consultation with the intention of: • Understanding the current role of community service organisations in supporting smoking cessation; and • Creating a future vision for community service organisations and their potential role in supporting smoking cessation, including ideas on how to overcome any barriers and investment required to achieve this. Some intra/inter-state travel and occasional out-of-hours work may be required. Key Responsibilities/Tasks: 1. To deliver the Community services supporting smoking cessation project as outlined in the project plan through the following activities: a. To form and coordinate the steering committee and provide administrative support to the group. b. Work in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure the project is supported by previous research and evidence in the smoking cessation area. c. Undertake industry/sector-wide consultation.
