I was inspired by Coco Channels iconic “Little Black dress”. Although her designs were simple, she created a look where women in the 1920’s were able to dress elegantly but still look “fierce”. For this years collection I wanted to bring something to TAS that hasnt really been seen before with male models wearing crop top hoodies and dress hoodies. The Great Gatsby delves into the wealthy, high-status, and top-notch lifestyle of New York City. The black and gold art deco connotes that despite the rich lifestyle, the characters in Great Gatsby couldn’t have all that they yearned for. Gatsby dies without winning Daisy back and Nick who desired after this extravagant lifestyle was defeated and hopeless in the end. I tried to convey that concept through this collection...

...the gold symbolizes wealth, prosperity, status, while the black represents evil, mystery, and death. The designs have gold fabric, but mainly consists of black fabric that overlaps which show that extravagance and tragedy often comes hand in hand. - Silvia Chen
