Educator • Author • Innovation Leader A recognized leader in innovative teaching, learning, and leadership, George Couros has more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, technology facilitator, and school and district administrator. Today, he is an author, speaker, and adjunct instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, helping educators build cultures where innovation and meaningful change can flourish.

Bridging the Gap: Exploring AI, Human Skills, and Culture in Today’s Schools George Couros Gain practical insights into AI’s growing role in education and learn how school boards can support innovation while strengthening the human skills that matter most.

Special Required Training Opportunities

Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes (EISO)*

This research-informed session will highlight practices and tools to help boards understand the current state of student learning, cast a compelling vision with meaningful goals, and oversee the improvement efforts in their districts. Trustees must complete this three-hour training within 120 days of election or appointment and then every two years.

The Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes (EISO) training is provided in accordance with TEA requirements. As a TEA Authorized Provider, TASB must document attendance and ensure compliance with all training requirements. Participants must attend and actively participate in the full three-hour session to receive EISO credit.

Child Abuse Prevention: Recognition, Reporting, and Response ** Session covers mandatory child abuse prevention and reporting requirements, helping trustees, educators, and school staff recognize signs of abuse and fulfill their legal responsibilities.

Participants will also learn what comes after a report is made to CPS, law enforcement, and SBEC, examining coordination among agencies and employee management considerations during pending investigations.

Required within 120 days of election or appointment and then every two years, this session educates trustees on recognizing and preventing child abuse, human trafficking, and other maltreatments, as well as ensuring student safety.

Customize Your Experience Pre-Conference Opportunities Start your conference experience early with specialized learning opportunities, including EISO training and legal update sessions on child abuse prevention and key education legislation.

Small School District Seminar This dedicated program is designed specifically for trustees and leaders serving small districts.

Board Officer Institute An immersive training specifically for board officers or those aspiring to take on an officer role who want to gain skills to be more effective in the boardroom. txEDCON Mobile App Plan your conference experience by downloading the new TASB Events app. Registered attendees will receive a notification in September when the app is live in the App Store or on Google Play.
