TAS Sport Guide 2026

Page 1

What are the benefits of Sport?

Sport plays an important role in the learning and development of children of all ages. Regular participation in sport helps students build physical strength, coordination and fitness, while encouraging healthy habits that support energy levels, focus and overall wellbeing throughout their school years.

Sport also supports positive mental health. Through physical activity, students learn to manage stress, build resilience and develop confidence as they set goals, try new skills and overcome challenges. Participation in sport can improve concentration and emotional regulation, helping students feel more engaged and ready to learn in the classroom.

Students learn teamwork, communication and cooperation, while developing respect, empathy and fair play. As students’ progress through primary and secondary learning, sport also nurtures leadership, responsibility and perseverance, preparing them for life beyond school.

The TAS Sport Program

The TAS Sport Program is built on a strong philosophy of participation, personal growth and enjoyment of sport. At its foundation, the program encourages students to explore their interests, develop correct technique and build confidence, with an emphasis on effort, teamwork and sportsmanship rather than a sole focus on winning. While competition and success are celebrated, students are guided to take pride in doing their best, playing fairly and developing a lifelong appreciation for fitness and wellbeing.

Students have access to outstanding sporting facilities, including an Olympic-standard Aquatic Centre, gymnasium, athletics tracks, sports ovals, courts, rock-climbing wall and orienteering course, supporting a wide range of activities and interests. TAS Sporting Clubs and partnerships provide further opportunities for students aged Prep to Year 12 to develop their skills under professional coaching across sports such as hockey, football, netball, swimming and triathlon.

For students seeking higher-level pathways, the TAS Sport Program also supports representative opportunities at interschool, regional, state, national and Olympic trial levels, reflecting a proud tradition of sporting excellence and holistic development.

In 2026, TAS will offer Netball, Hockey and Swimming as club sports. Other sport opportunities available to TAS students include Charlie Beverley Football Academy, TAS jogging and TAS gym.
