About Erith Wharf Erith wharf supplies processed marine aggregate into the construction industry of Central and East London and North Kent. The wharf lies on the south bank of the River Thames just upstream of the Queen Elizabeth Road Bridge and typically receives ships between one and three times a week delivering cargoes from Tarmac’s extraction licence areas in the southern North Sea and eastern English Channel.

Sand and gravel processed by marine wharves now contributes to about a third of the total used in construction across the South East and our wharf at Erith is an important part of that supply network.

Materials The sand and gravel at Erith is processed to produce high grade aggregates for the construction sector.

Processing takes place at the wharf and materials are supplied immediately into construction with tonnages stockpiled to provide supply assurance.

The wharf blends the raw materials and produces high grade concreting aggregates both in bulk and in one tonne bags.
