Celebrating the Contributions of Women in the Construction Industry

Since 1998, the National Associatio has recognized Women in Construction Week eve ted to celebrating the achievements and contributio ion industry. From architects and engineers to projec n, women are breaking barriers and leaving their mark on the construction world in countless different ways.

Taplin is proud to employ a team of incredible women across our family of companies, all of whom contribute to Taplin's continued success and mission via their many unique paths and roles. From behind-the-scenes to work in the field, the women of Taplin help turn the gears and get the job done!

Women in Construction Week is an opportunity to recognize the incredible contributions that women are making to the construction industry. Women are bringing unique perspectives, creativity, and problem-solving skills to their roles By recognizing their achievements, we can inspire more women to enter the field and help offset the current labor shortage being seen across the industry.

So celebrate the contributions and achievements of women in the construction industry. By recognizing their accomplishments, raising awareness about the challenges they face, and working together to create a more inclusive industry, we can ensure that women in construction continue to break barriers and make a difference for years to come.

Did you know you wanted to work in construction and plan for it or how did you end up in the industry?

"No I didn’t While working security I noticed several beautiful women driving in and out of the plant and knew that it was something I very much wanted for myself, so I did it!"

What’ s the best part of your job?

"The people I work with are by far the best part of my job."

"The people, for sure. Working with people who are always willing to help, do it right and work hard."

"Knowing that what I do matters to so many "

What makes you proud to be part of the construction industry?

"The construction industry is made up of the hardest working people in our society. The work our field crews do and the conditions in which they need to do it sets them distinctly apart from any other field. The dedication, adaptability, teamwork, and strength of work ethic that flows through our field crews, executive team and office staff is remarkable "

What advice would you give to young women entering (or considering) the industry?

"Working in male-dominated field may be intimidating to start, but don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Be confident."

"It’s known as being a man ’ s world. Being a woman in the construction industry gives you a boost knowing that you are capable of doing the same career. It can be very empowering."

What advice would you give to young women entering (or considering) the industry?

"Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something, only you can decide that."

What has been the most memorable moment in your construction career?

"Taking the HAZWOPER 40hour course. Getting to dress up in the suits and learn more about the work the company does "

Regardless of which field ends up being your entry point, if something interests you, find out more about it Ask questions, offer to help, and take every opportunity to learn as you are able You never know when a new position might be created, or a vacancy might need to be filled "
