A floorologist is a knowledgeable, end-to-end customer-centric flooring expert passionate about making inspiring flooring reassuringly simple and transforming houses into homes.

Carpet types Did you know there are actually only four carpet types to choose from? Each one is bursting with great qualities we’re proud to shout about.

Soft and sumptuous

Springy and durable

Give your feet a treat and let them sink into a lush luxury saxony carpet. Many create those fresh ‘to and fro’ vacuum marks.

Bouncy and comfy beneath your feet, they’re super durable, easy to clean, and can cope with the demands of everyday life.

Firm and textured

The hallmark of tradition

Feeling firm and fabulous underfoot, loops are mostly durable, easy to clean, and very tactile. Best for pet-free zones so kitty claws don’t get caught in the loops.

Using the traditional technique of weaving to create striking patterns and gorgeous colours, woven carpets are long lasting and they come in two types of finish, either cut or looped.

Yarn types

What yarn a carpet’s made from will change the way it looks, feels, and performs. Each yarn creates a distinctive softness, texture, and density.

Wool

Wool blend

Luxuriously comfortable, naturally insulating, and stain resistant, wool keeps on giving as it’s completely sustainable, too.

All the natural insulation and quality of wool with added strength and durability for the perfect blend.

Polypropylene

Polyester

A tough cookie that doesn’t mind a bit of dirt. The synthetic fibres feel soft, they’re hardwearing, and can be cleaned with a 10% bleach solution.

Whatever life throws at polyester – especially stains and water – it repels it. The fibres hold colour well, and feel very soft to touch.

Twist Worth shouting about Incredibly easy to clean and designed to keep looking great year after year, twists are the perfect choice for busy homes.

Here, we’re going to explain how to measure your room. Simply let us know your measurements and we can provide you with an initial, accurate free quote. All our quotes are personally completed by a Tapi flooring specialist.

We've created a step-by-step video on how to measure a room. Please let us know as much information as you can about the room or rooms you’re measuring for. Is it a kitchen, bathroom or lounge? Maybe a bedroom, maybe all of them! It’s handy for us to know everything about the doors and windows – how many there are, are they internal, external or patio doors, do the windows reach the floor and where are they on your plan? Please record the positions of all windows and doors on your sketch.

How to measure a room (it’s not as difficult as you think!) Follow our six basic steps below to help get an accurate quote All you need is: Tape measure Paper Pen Ruler

Our simple six-step instructions: 1

Start by sketching out the shape of the room. Make sure to jot down any doorways, windows, or drop-backs, including fireplaces, alcoves, and fitted cupboards.

Grab your tape measure and measure the widest and longest points of the room, wall to wall. If you can get someone else to help you hold the tape measure straight, it’s so much easier.

Measure across a few different points as the walls might be a little uneven (especially in older houses) and note down these measurements on your plan.

Measure all the way into any doorways (where the next room starts) and remember to record doorway widths too.

Jot down the dimensions of any alcoves, as well as any split levels or steps.

6 Remember to only record actual measurements on your plan.
