Music Director Beth Preston holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Brigham Young University and a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from University of Southern Maine. She directs the Newcastle-based Tapestry Singers, a community choir that has become known for championing the works of living composers. With Sean Fleming, she founded Classic Harmony, a group for singers aged 55+ that is under the non-pro t umbrella of Tapestry Singers. She was a founding member of Vox Nova Chamber Choir in Brunswick (now Una Voce Chamber Choir). Ms. Preston also teaches privately, coaching singers who win awards, scholarships, and acceptance into prestigious postsecondary programs. Ms. Preston has provided the vocal coaching for both amateurs and professionals in Heartwood Regional Theater Company’s musical theater productions. She was awarded “Distinguished Choral Director of the Year 2010” from Maine American Choral Directors Association, “Music Educator of the Year 2013” from District 3 Music Educators, and “Maine Music Educator of the Year 2019” from Maine Music Educators Association. June 2019 marked Ms. Preston’s retirement from Lincoln Academy and a 37-year career in the public schools where she conducted awardwinning choirs and directed musical theater productions of the highest caliber. She has recently enjoyed working with older students to help them rebuild their voices and rediscover the joy of singing.

Accompanist Sean Fleming is an in-demand keyboard artist, accompanist, and arranger. He performs regularly with Classic Harmony, the Lincoln Academy Lincolnaires, Lincoln Festival Chorus, St. Cecilia ChamberChoir, Sheepscot Valley Chorus, and Tapestry Singers. He performs regularly with his two bands, the Sean Fleming Ragtime Band, and the Red Hot Peppers early jazz band. He is on the roster of the Amethyst Chamber Ensemble and is a member of the Maine Friends of Music chamber ensemble. He is on the faculty of Bay Chamber Music School. He was recently the music director for the Hearts Ever Young troupe. He regularly accompanies many high school and junior high festivals. He has worked with Ann Arbor Camerata, Bowdoin Chamber Choir, Bowdoin Chorus, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival Chorus, Coastal Chorale, Colby College Chorale, Down East Singers, Maine Pro Musica, Midcoast Community Chorus, Oratorio Chorale, Renaissance Voices, University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society, University of Southern Maine Chorale, University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers, and Vox Nova Chamber Choir. Mr. Fleming has directed or accompanied over 80 musical theater productions nationwide. He has served as the music director, orchestra conductor, and accompanist for Heartwood Regional Theater Company’s productions of Big River, Into the Woods, Man of La Mancha, The Secret Garden, and many others. With the Watts Hall Community Players he was the music director for Once Upon A Mattress, The Pirates of Penzance, The Music Man, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the premiere of the new musical Count Me In!, H.M.S. Pinafore, Spamalot, and most recently, The Drowsy Chaperone. A piano and organ recitalist who has performed throughout the United States, Mr. Fleming studied organ and piano with Ray Cornils, John Doney, Michael Lindsey, and Gerald McGee. For the past 30 years he has served as organist at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Newcastle. Over his long career he has played for Roman Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, Congregational, Methodist, and Baptist services. He was the recipient of a 2009 St. Botolph Club Foundation grant award. 17

Guest Artists Anne Bailey, soprano, grew up in Maryland and completed her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance at the New England Conservatory of Music. Some of her previous engagements include the roles of Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème and Virtù in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea with the New England Conservatory's (NEC's) Undergraduate Opera Studio. She also sang in the chorus of Gounod's La Reine de Saba and Tchaikovsky's Maid of Orlean with Odyssey Opera in Boston, and in the chorus of Puccini's La Bohème with Boston Opera Collaborative. Ms. Bailey has performed as the soprano soloist for various concert works including Mozart's Missa Brevis in D Major with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Festival in Michigan and Mendelssohn's Hear My Prayer with the NEC Chamber Singers.

Kayleigh Tolley, mezzo-soprano, grew up in Waldoboro, Maine, and attended Lincoln Academy in Newcastle. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Opera Performance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she studies with Dr. Rebecca Folsom. Recent roles at the Conservatory include Meg in Mark Adamo’s Little Women and Dorabella in Così fan tutte. She spent this past summer in Prague and Vienna, performing as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro with the Prague Summer Nights Festival. Other recent credits include Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Nancy in Albert Herring, Fidalma in Il matrimonio segreto, and Zandra in the world premiere of Dunphy and Gold nger’s Alice Tierney. She is a graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory, where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Guest Artists (cont.) Joshua Miller, baritone, is a Maine native hailing from Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert Island. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine's Osher School of Music, where he studied vocal performance with Ellen Chickering. After graduation, Mr. Miller moved to New York City where he sang Harasta in Janáöek's Prihody Lisky Bystrousky with Dell'arte Opera Ensemble, PishTush in New York Gilbert & Sullivan Player's reimagined Gilbert and Sullivan classic The Mikado, and Sam in Metro West Opera's staging of Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti. In recent years, Joshua has turned his attention to oratorio, performing as the baritone soloist in Mendelssohn's Elijah, Vaughan-Williams' Five Mystical Songs, Handel's Messiah and Israel in Egypt. Joshua is a keen outdoorsman, an amateur naturalist, and an International Society of Arboriculturecerti ed arborist, all of which brought him back to Maine in early 2022 to live permanently. Jonas Rimkunas, tenor, is a native Mainer and graduate of the University of Southern Maine's Osher School of Music (Bachelor of Music) and the Maryland Opera Studio (Master of Music). In his mid 20s, he was planning to pursue a career in wooden boat building but shifted course when singing with a barbershop quartet inspired him to seek a degree in music performance. Mr. Rimkunas has had the privilege to sing multiple operatic roles with Opera Maine, Opera in the Pines, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and The Miami Music Festival. Utilizing singing technique in a multitude of styles, he enjoys singing regularly with the Amethyst Ensemble, The Downeasters Barbershop Chorus, as well as his barbershop quartets Constellation and Flower Power. Mr. Rimkunas currently holds a position at USM as Artist Faculty In Voice, and was recently appointed Vocal Development Lead with The Downeasters Chorus. When not surrounding himself with music, he can be found on his sailboat or in his wood shop.

Guest Artists (continued) John Mehrmann is a composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music for the lm Honeydew (2021) was called “one of the best lm scores of the year” (“Movies in Focus”), though it was also called “unnerving” by The New York Times and “truly disturbing” by The Guardian, which is perhaps a rst for a composer of pleasant choral music. His scores have been heard at the Tribeca Film Festival, the Palm Springs International Film Festival and many others. Among his recent works is a new kinderkonzert commission for the Portland Symphony titled “Lost in Space: A Percussion Adventure,” to be premiered this spring, and an upcoming feature lm by director Kristen Buckels. He is music director of the a cappella choral ensemble VoXX: Voice of Twenty, a percussionist with the Bangor Symphony, and music director at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle. He teaches at Bay Chamber Music School and the University of Maine at Augusta.

Stepping Stone Housing Inc. is a 501c (3) non-profit corporation that has been providing affordable, transitional, and permanent housing for individuals and families in Lincoln County Maine since 2013. We are a local, volunteer run, grassroots program dedicated to helping those who earn less than a living wage find housing as a "stepping stone" to a better life. SSHI, Inc. owns several properties in Bremen, Bristol, and Damariscotta, with the intention of expanding the number of housing units in the years to come. We currently serve over a dozen individuals.
