WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS MONTH...
Hello Fall... October has arrived and with cooler weather!
This month at the Club brings many festive events such as National Taco Day, Fall Festival, Pumpkin Carving, Dale Watson, and Golf Yoga!
Don't forget that Happy Hour is everyday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm everyday of the week! As well as with football season in full throttle, La Cascada Table & Bar is offering Every Sunday (all day) and Monday Night NFL games with Happy Hour specials and Bar Bites.
For our golfers, don't miss out on No Net Thursday, Grip it & Sip it Ladies Clinic(s), Couples golf, and the various tournaments that are going on this month!
We also would like to inform you that Vaqueros Del Mar is happening on October 16 October 19th and the Club will be closed on those days.
Make sure to sign up for all the fun things we have planned for this month and we can't wait to see you around the Club!

October has arrived and once again Tapatio Springs is proud to host the annual Vaqueros Del Mar Charity Golf Tournament.
Vaqueros Del Mar is a sold out event happening from Sunday, October 16th through to the morning of Thursday, October 20th.
All facilities will be closed to both Members and public throughout this time.
For our neighbors who live close by, there will be a small fireworks display happening sometime between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM on Wednesday, October 19th. While you are welcome to enjoy the show from the comfort of your patios, please be sure to put your pets inside during this time
*VDM has asked us to provide Hole-In-One witnesses again this year. If you would like to work a shift as a witness, please see Kyle in the golf shop to register as a volunteer and sign our witness agreement. A box lunch will be provided*

Hello Tapatio Members!
Our MGA and LGA Tournament season is winding down for the year, so I wanted to address some of the rules questions that have come up on occasion and may be confusing to some. I will feature one or two of these each month moving forward. If there are any rules that are confusing to you (or questioned by your playing competitors LOL), feel free to let us know and we’ll add them to the series. The USGA provides many excellent videos that explain the rules very clearly, so feel free to browse them at USGA.org.
This month’s featured rule is one that I wasn’t perfectly clear on until recently. For my whole golf career, a ball lost or out-of-bounds meant only one option….replay from the tee or wherever you hit the shot (Stroke and Distance) with a penalty stroke:

In 2019, the USGA and R&A provided a new “local rule” option called “Alternative to Stroke and Distance”. In the interest of pace-of-play, you have the option to drop near the edge of the fairway, at a point no closer to the hole, in line with the hole.

This is considered a “local rule” meaning that not every golf course allows this option. There may also be some tournaments and competitions that don’t offer this as an option. However, with casual everyday play, this is a great idea to keep the pace-of-play moving along so everyone can enjoy their round.
