As the kid's head back off to school this month and as summer starts winding down, things at the Club are just heating up! This month at the Club brings some exciting changes, including the arrival of a new Executive Chef. We're excited to see the changes he brings to the dining experience, and we hope you are too! August events include our Back to School Bash, a Murder Mystery Dinner, Our first Casino Night, A Margarita Competition, Kid's Nights Out and MORE! Sky is a staff and guest favorite, always willing to lend a hand when needed and rarely without a smile on her face. In her free time she likes to read books, go swimming and explore the local area. If you see Sky around the Club, please give her a high five for this well deserved achievement!

PRoper Way A WORD FROM THE PRO...
Hello Tapatio Members!
So, my prayers and endless Rain Dances have not worked quite yet unfortunately. As you know, our region is in Extreme Drought and the weather forecasts have not shown any relief in sight. Since the beginning of January, we have only had 6.4” of rain, and high temperatures at or near 100 degrees nearly every day since the start of June. I wanted to take this opportunity to update everyone on our conservation plan moving forward. For those that are new to Tapatio Springs, our irrigation water comes from the lake on hole #2 which is heavily dependent on rainfall to remain full. There are wells on property that contribute to the capacity, as well as purchased water from the local utility. But without rainfall, it’s not enough to keep up with the demand. If you’ve been on the course recently, you’ve seen that the lake is extremely low. In an ideal world, with a full irrigation lake, we would use approximately 350,000 gallons per day to this time of year. Obviously, we can’t use nearly that much and need to do our best to conserve wherever possible. We have been forced to focus our irrigation to the greens and tee boxes for the most part, while cutting back drastically on the amount of water applied to the fairways. As we move forward, if there isn’t a significant amount of rain, we will move to other phases of conservation, to include hand-watering tees and greens and cart path only restrictions on all 18 holes. Over the last few weeks, we have asked members and guests to remain on the cart paths on nine holes at a time, and we appreciate the cooperation. If we allowed golf carts to drive on the “summer-dormant” grass, it would damage the plant to the point where nothing will grow back when precipitation does return. We also continue to have to remind members to pair up on golf carts. Please take it upon yourself to pair up, even when there isn’t a starter at the first tee box. The fewer tires on the dormant grass, the better! We appreciate everyone’s cooperation keeping your golf course as good as possible. Some of you may have seen this video on YouTube already, but I came across this today and it really put things in perspective and demonstrates just how cyclical the weather is in this region. We all hope that it doesn’t get to the point that it was in 2007.

It’s easy to go out to the driving range and beat balls. Make sure you have goals that you want to accomplish regardless of the setting. Practice with a purpose and focus on getting better. The last thing we want to do is ingrain bad habits so focusing on fundamentals is key.
Play the Right Equipment Sometimes it IS the arrow and not the Indian. Making sure you are fit for your golf clubs is an investment that will pay off and translate to the golf course. Think of it like getting clothes tailored to your figure. It’s the same with your golf clubs!
