o I ve given many lessons in my career, and I have asked every one of them, What s your target?”. Most of the time, they say “Oh, I’m not real sure”

o Make sure you have a target!!!

· Are you using alignment rods or a club on the ground to check your alignment to your target?

o Many times, golfers think they are hitting a bad shot, but in actuality, their alignment is off and they’re hitting a better shot than they think.

o If a golfer thinks they’ve missed a shot to the right, they’re going to make an unnecessary adjustment to hit the ball to the left more (over-the-top)

o Ensure your alignment is correct before making swing changes

· When finishing your warm-up, are you playing the first hole in your head while you are hitting shots (hit Driver, then a 5-iron, then a wedge)?

o Many golfers hit the ball great on the range, but they struggle to transition to the golf course

o Getting the mental side of the game ready for the course could be the key

· Do you envision the tee shot of a hole that gives you trouble on a regular basis?

o This helps keep yourself from simply hitting ball after ball

· Are you stretching before hitting range balls?

o This isn’t only to prevent injuries, but to ensure you can make a full turn

o Core strength and flexibility is vital to better performance in the game of golf You can make your practice time much more effective and efficient by having a purpose for each and every shot instead of just hitting ball-after-ball.

Forks Designs, a successful women’s boutique with products that are carried in more than 450 stores across the country. She is an author of “Braving it with Faith Alone,” a book about teen-age biases for young mothers, which she was one. This is a good read about hard work and success.
