Hello Tapatio Members!

The GPS system on the Club’s fleet of carts is enabled with car control that enforces the cart path only rule. For those with legitimate physical limitations, we did make exceptions and allowed the carts to use the 90 degree rule and take the carts off the fairway on a limited basis. We also have many private golf carts that aren’t controlled by our GPS System. As you’ll see by the photos below (taken just a couple of weeks ago), some of these private carts or exception carts didn’t abide by the 90 degree rule and left tracks of damaged turf all the way down the fairway and rough These areas will take longer to recover when we get more rain and we get some re growth. When we ask for your cooperation with cart restrictions, it’s intended to give you, other members, and guests the best playing conditions possible. (14 Fairway – Literally 10 feet from the cart path) I’ve also found this video on the USGA website that further explains the need for these controls and shows the damage that golf carts can cause to the turf, making your playing conditions less than ideal: (13 Fairway Several carts driving straight down the fairway) WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

As of Friday, September 2nd, we will return to allowing golf carts to enter fairways using the 90 degree rule. ( I wanted to remind everyone of the importance of the 90 degree rule on our fairways. For those unfamiliar with the 90 degree rule, you are supposed to drive on the cart path until you reach a point where you are even with your golf ball in the fairway At that point, you drive to your ball, play your shot, then drive back to the cart path. At no point should you be driving straight up the middle of the fairway or the rough.

What little bit of rain we had in August has sure made a big impact on the fairways The grass is getting greener, finally! Something else that has made an impact is the majority if y’all’s cooperation with our Cart Path Only status during the extreme drought conditions so far this year.I know it’s not convenient, and with the high temperatures we’ve had this summer, it’s exhausting walking back and forth. However, golf is a form of exercise for a lot of people, so I hope you all appreciated that aspect!
