Thesis

The World Trade Center is aimed at providing investment opportunities in commercial sector, such as luxury offices, retail stores, exhibition spaces, food courts and serviced apartments. This project is going to act as a major catalyst for the Tri City region (Chandigarh, Panchkula & Mohali) economic growth and financial evolution. The development of a World Trade Centre, through the promotion of foreign multinational and corporate companies to the tricity region, will further strengthen regional strategies to develop export-oriented economic zones. Moreover, WTC services will increase competition between local businesses and foreign investment.

The area of the site is approximately 8 acres. The site is located in Sector 82 Mohali, close to the Chandigarh International Airport. World Trade Centre will serve as the first point of view for the travelers arriving from the International Airport. It will be proposed to be the new landmark of the Tricity.

The site can be approached by two sides. One from the 15 m wide Service Road and the other from the 10 m wide Internal Road network. The site has a separate service route that will help to ensure a smooth traffic flow for multiple entries.

The Signature Tower entry opens up to a double height waiting lounge connected to the reception area and the main vertical circulation core. The two staircases leads to the upper floor with two exhibition hall with a temporary partition that can also act as one depending on the number of users attending the event. The second floor gets recessed to form a terrace that serves as the open dining space for the two restaurants with common dining.

Signature tower gets rotated at every 3 floors at an angle of 45 degrees. As the floor plate rotates, the corner pockets of the floor forms up as the triangular terraces which can also serve as refuge areas. These green terraces formed can also be used as the breakout zones for the office employees. The office rooms are designed in such a way that each room has access to the green terraces.

The Shopping complex is designed to connect indoor and outdoor functions. This is achieved by recessing the floor plate of the shopping complex at each level, thus forming cascading terraces at each floor which can be accessed by the stairs at every floor. The idea is to design a huge plaza for the public with cascading levels as if it seems like an elevated ground at each level. The main Plaza is kept free of any vehicular circulation.

The two Identical Office Towers can be accessed by the lift core on the ground floor of the podium/ complex that directly opens up to the 4th level where the office tower begins. The central section includes the circulation area and all the required services while the offsets of the floor is occupied by different office room layouts.

of the corridor, I proposed the main lift cores at the center which breaks the long continous corridor to avoid the claustrophoic effect. Such an arrangement allows the users to explore the spaces creating an interesting and unique feature overall.

The whole complex is designed as a single entity yet each building has its own special features and identity that separates the functions and user access. It seems like an elevated ground at each level.

The verticality of the towers is broken down by creating terraces at different floors so as to compare it to the humanscale to deal with ease of access and function divisions.

As the complex is the first view point for the travelers coming from the international airport, the form and facade treatment makes it an inviting view and will serve as the best mixed use building for the travelers to reside in the Service Apartment and enjoy the Food Court at the Shopping Complex.

The housing industry of India is one of the fastest growing sectors.

A large population base, rising income level and rapid urbanization leads to growth in this sector. The Union government responsible for formulation and implementation of social housing schemes highlights various initiatives and schemes implemented by the government for rural, urban and EWS housing. Main focus for the development of this project is on incorporating various sustainable approaches in planning, structural systems and energy conservation to make this project an ideal example of futuristic housing. This is a ninth semester academic project designed individually.

The Brief asked to design a high rise group housing complex for which the site is located within the Gated community. Required spaces were 1 Bhk, 2 Bhk, 3 Bhk and EWS typologies, in addition to all social and physical infrastructure necessary for the area.

on the speed and purpose of the users: a wide, straight road for vehicular circulation, a narrower walking path accommodates residents who want to quickly arrive at their apartments. Users won’t be restricted to just got to their individual apartments but the complete site will be well accessible and utilized.

The building is placed in a natural garden, which connects to the verticality of the tower to stretch a green ribbon over the building.

The concept of Vertical Gardens that allows users to have their own garden giving each residential unit a spacious green space. A modular planter system that can be installed as an extension for the balconies of each unit. Each planter can be filled with different kinds and sizes of plants and serve as a natural barrier to the surrounding. The balcony can be designed as a grass-surface.

The gardens also work as an effective passive cooling system for the building, providing natural ventilation throughout the complex and shielding residents from the hot climate.

This in turn saves up to 60% of the energy consumed by the building, reducing the project’s overall carbon footprint. This organic division to their neighbouring units is a healthy alternative to common mechanical cooling minimizing the

The hotel industry is a form of business which relates to providing accommodations in lodging, food and beverages and a host of interrelated organised services which are intended for public good. This is a eigth semester academic project designed individually.

There are more than 370 approved hotels under the category of 5-star rating listed under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Panchkula is a well planned city of Haryana. Panchkula and Mohali are satellite cities of Chandigarh. These three cities are collectively known as Chandigarh Tricity. A Five star hotel is proposed in Panchkula to develop tourism infrastructure in the tricity.

Site Plan

This Luxurious hotel in Panchkula offers contemporary accommodation for the business class. It will serve as the meeting point for the business associates travelling to the tricity area, Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali.

The Hotel goes upto 15 stories offering panoramic views of Shivalik Hills towards North east. The brief asked to propose a Luxurious Business Hotel that will offer 500 guest rooms with food and beverage facilities and Multipurpose Hall. This multipurpose area will be used as ballroom, banqueting room, conferences, exhibitions or wedding receptions.

In the Mäntymäki area of Turku, ​​ a residential project of 40,000 square meters was proposed to replace the existing demolished residential buildings. To lead with this project, green and sustainable designs were given priority which is typical in Modern Finnish Architecture nowadays.

The main focus is on how to prioritize the green element in our design.

This aspect is reflected in the following project and it has been the major concept leading to the Development of the whole complex. This is a competition entry worked with a firm during Academic Internship.

I mainly deliberated on the facade details and material study, along with some floor plan drafting.

The Site is located in Turku, a city on the southwest coast of Finland, 150 kms from the Capital. It stretches along the Aura River with medieval cobblestone streets , which is referred to as the heart of the city.

During the summer, the riverbanks come to life when people gather here to eat and drink and the city overflows with events and festivals: tango, middle age, music, theatre, art, design and much more.

Site for the Residential Complex is a very prime location, as it is placed at the hillside of the contoured city which directly overlooks to the Turku Castle, Turku Cathedral and the Great Old Square.

This tree is joined in such a way that it could be repeated and rotated in a specific angular direction and number, resulting in a good combination of a 3d Structure which

Public-Centric theme to the architecture of Mantymaki’s Cityscape. These Star Systems of cube serves as the entry gates for the courtyards.

The Star Systems are created within a simple 1.5m x 1.5m wooden cubic frames, which are mounted on top of each other to form a desired composition.

Each Module at the end of each apartment block contains a simple series of wooden sculptures. These cubes can be attached in six different directions like a dice, which can result in unlimited variations of combination.

The lower layer made up of steel is slighlty higher that the dimensions of the Cube , so Wooden Frame

as to prevent rot, vandalism and climbing.

The Structure is rigidly supported on metal cubes, which serves as the strong base.

Wooden Sculpture

All the Modules are similar in size and design so as to make it inexpensive and easy to install.

These modiles are completely independed in structure, it can be separated or repaired easily.

Set on a sloping site in the coastal city of North County region of San Diego, this private residence for a young family was designed to create a family home. This house is designed as a place to escape to in the weekends and holidays. The homeowners, therefore, wanted the building to be as unobtrusive as possible while maintaining a connection to the outside and allowing for a view across to the grand lawn in front.

This a freelance work worked remotely on digital means. I worked on the illustration and visualisations for this project.

The site is located 2.5kms from the famous Windansea Beach, This beach has been popular with surfers for decades & features an iconic palm-covered surf shack.

The White House project considers comfort and building maintenance in its tropical context. The project was made as a raw and honest dwelling with contours that follow the site ridgeline.

The backyard patio is a two-tier design constructed with flagstone. The smooth white swimming is the central focal point with outdoor chairs set up to enjoy the area day or night under a small wood pergola bordered by Italian cypress trees on the edge. There is much more to the mesmerizing project than just the landscape that surrounds it, as its cantilevered structure sits on a sloped lot and drastically reduces the environmental impact of the construction in a beachy region. The volume of the house was elevated above the ground and built into the lawn, designed to intensify connections between nature and architecture. A night view showing dispersed light through sunscreen making it a “LightBox” in the locality.

Beach house is designed with the intent of blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces to achieve a warm, tranquil home. Almost every space is connected with a sister outdoor space to further blur the distinction between in and out. The house clings to the side of a steep cliff; it is suspended to take on the panoramic views of beach at the backside. The lower level of the house, the living room, follows an open plan that leads out to the patio and swimming pool at the backside

The design of the barbeque is a bit different from the usual backyard patio which creates more hominess because of subtle and modern feel. The lighting treatment for this area is well-thought, which completes the comtemporary look. The lower level of the house, the living room, follows an open plan that leads out to the patio and swimming pool at the backside. The general sense of warmth throughout the home is driven by the use of natural materials like wood. By contrast, the concrete walls and glass clearly creats a dialogue with the wood and other earth tones.

PIERRE JEANNERET - SOUVINER DESIGN COMPETITION POST CARD DESIGN The Swiss-born architect Pierre Jeanneret, a cousin of Le Corbusier, was instrumental in the design and development of the capital city of Chandigarh.

He remained in Chandigarh from February 1951 to August 1965, and designed most of the government housing, schools, colleges,

shopping centres, Gandhi

Bhawan, Panjab University, and other infrastructure besides supervising the implementation of Le Corbusier’s designs of the Capitol Complex, Museum and Art Gallery, College of Art, City Centre, etc.

This competition was held on 125th birth anniversary of Pierre Jeanneret conducted by the M N Sharma Architectural Society.

The brief was to design a Postcard, Notebook, T-shirt, Mouespad, Puzzles, miniatures or any such product inspired by the works of the lesser known architect.

The Postcard design is inspired by the doors at Maison Pierre Jeanneret. The color palatte used in the postcard design is inspired by the the works of Pierre Jeanneret & Le Corbusier. Size of the postcard is 6” x 4”

MISCELLANEOUS NOTEBOOK DESIGN

The deisign of Notebook represents a pictorial sketch of the swiss architect Le corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret on a paddle boat designed by Jeanneret at Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh.

In 1954, Le Corbusier and the town planner P.L. Verma build Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, a large artificial lake on the north-eastern part of the city. Le Corbusier insisted on the prohibition of motorboats and Pierre Jeanneret designed a paddle boat specifically designed for the lake.

The size of the Notebook is A4 with hard bound cover and 100 gsm lined pages.
