Our historic feature is part one exploring the devastating 1906-’07 winter, written by a cowboy who lived through it, Harry Otterson. That winter saw unending cold and storms, leading to a near wipeout of cattle and wildlife on the Canadian side of the Great Plains.
We also feature the Vance family of Grassy Butte Ranch, founded in 1898 in southern Alberta, and we celebrate the deceptively simple, clean lines of Jennifer Mack's glorious “horse-centric” artwork.
