The April/May 2023 issue of Canadian Cowboy Country launches our three-issue
salute (!) to the RCMP on their 150th anniversary — beginning with the
creation of the legends.
Sticking with the legend theme, our Trailblazer is Walt Ostin, a prairie
farm boy who became one of the top master holster makers in the world.
And still with legends, we tell the heartwrenching story of a legend in the
making, aptly titled True Grit, about Sandy Cooper-Black, a young bronc
rider who suffered a catastrophic wreck, and the aftermath (so far.)
Our ranch coverage in What Works For Us is on the native grass management of
the MacDougald Ranch, which started as a national park and has morphed into
one of the finest stands of native grass on the Great Plains.
Our cover story, Managing Ranch Risk, was written by former Mountie and top
hand Reg Steward — who also appears on our cover, plus our new column,
Western Collector!
All this and more in the Apr/May issue of Canadian Cowboy Country.
