ASSOCIATION "MI" - SPLIT

When?

From November 4th 2024 to May 31st 2025

Get to know us Association “MI” – Split is an NGO located in Split (Croatia) that has been active since 1996.

We are working intensively on promoting social solidarity, volunteering, active citizenship, civic participation and also in reducing the risk of discrimination against vulnerable groups, and raising the quality of life and work of its target groups (volunteers, the elderly, organisations in civil society, etc.).

What are we expecting from you?

If you are between the ages of 18 and 30 and from the country covered by the program, you can apply!

We are expecting you to participate in volunteering activities for up to 6 hours a day (mostly from Monday to Friday, with a few exceptions) from November 4th 2024 to May 31st 2025, with a short break during Christmas time :) You are free to organize you free time outside volunteering as you like - take up a hobby, socialize with other ESC volunteer (there will be two of you in our program), explore the city with other foreigners in Split, go to the beach if the weather is nice, etc.

Based on your wishes and interests, you will volunteer in various activities with our target groups (youth and elderly) and we are open to your suggestions!

Activities We would like your help in conducting activities in our Golden Age Centre, with our seniors. You'd be there to assist them during activities and organize your activity.

For example, you love to cook? Do you have your favourite dish that you love to cook for others? Great! You can organize a culinary workshop and prepare your favourite local dishes!

Or you play an instrument or you like to sing? Join our seniors in a music workshop and maybe teach them a song in your language :) You can see the activities conducted by previous volunteers HERE.

Activities

We will also need your help in organizing public events around various important dates (International Day of Older Persons, celebration of International volunteer Day, etc.) and also in organizing educational activities for youth.

With youth you can organize various workshops and educational activities for example on active participation in the society, solidarity or maybe you can share your experience in volunteering!

City of Split All volunteer activities take place in Split, which is the second largest city in Croatia and is located along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, which means that you should bring your swimsuit and take advantage of the sunny days and your free time!

Social life in Split is very good and adjusted to young people. Many cultural, sports and entertainment events take place throughout the year.

Practical information Volunteering locations are both in the city centre: Sinjska 7 (main office, where you'll be most of the time) and Branimirova obala 1 (Golden Age Centre).

Accomodation: you will have a private room (not shared!) near the city centre (pictured on the left). Amenities: double bed with bathroom, air conditioning, table and a TV. The kitchen and living area are shared.

Getting around: There’s a short 10 minute walk to our office and city centre. :)

What expenses will we cover?

You will not receive a salary for your volunteer engagement, but in addition to travel and accommodation costs, once a week you will be able to go shopping for basic ingredients from which you will prepare meals. Each volunteer will receive around 240 € per month for living expenses, which is approximately the price of a consumer basket in Croatia.

For all additional expenses, you will have a guaranteed allowance of 10 € per day. Also, all volunteers who come to our organization will have a health insurance.
