Preparation Photocopy the worksheet. Make one copy for each pair of students in the class.

3 Explain how to play the game. Student A should think of a famous person who is alive and write that name on a piece of paper. Student B should not know who student A has chosen. Student B must ask yes / no questions and try to discover the name of the person student A has chosen. Student A can answer only with yes or no and short answers (Yes, he is. / No, she doesn’t.) 4 Student B is allowed only 20 questions to discover who student A has chosen. If he / she does not succeed with 20 questions or less, student A wins and can reveal who his / her person is. Student B then thinks of a famous person who is alive and student A asks questions.

Option This can be played as a group. One student (or you) should think of a famous person who is alive and the class members take turns asking questions. To make sure all students participate, suggest that they ask in order of where they are seated. Students must wait their turn to ask a question, even if they know the answer. The person who guesses correctly gets to think of a famous person for the next round.
