Bold Designs that Redefine the Work Surface
Client: Hines
Solution: Custom Live-Edge Table Sourced from Portland, Oregon
Architecture + Design Firm: Rapt Studio
Working with our live slab vendor, we hand-selected a raw live-edge slab cut from a 100-year-old log salvaged from a family farm in Portland, Oregon. We chose this particular slab for its
size, but the client fell in love with the backstory. We worked with the vendor to test out several types of resin to fill in cracks and holes to make the tabletop smooth to the touch. The
finished tabletop is 192 inches in length and seats up to 20 people. Allowing the live-edge slab to take its rightful spotlight, we completed the table with metal legs.
Client: Moroch
Solution: An approachable and ergonomic boardroom table that doesn’t dominate the space
We designed a cantilevered table for a client needing a table for over 20 people without it feeling massive. The base has a laser-cut top and bottom loop with vertical steel tubes and large gusset brackets supporting a 36” D surface. The angled vertical tubes allow light to pass through while providing structure. This design eliminates extra legs, enhancing leg space for users.

Client: Confidential Entertainment Client
Solution: Replacing individual desks with a dynamic and communal library table touchdown space.
For over a decade, a confidential entertainment client has trusted Studio Other to design and deliver custom workstations, but after COVID, the traditional office setup no longer fit how employees wanted to work. Entire floors remained empty as people resisted returning to one-to-one assigned desks. Instead, employees gravitated toward communal areas
like kitchens and bars—places that felt more dynamic and inviting. To reimagine the workspace, we introduced a library table concept: a touchdown space that felt less formal yet aligned with the company’s industrial aesthetic. Designed for shorter stays of 4–6 hours rather than a full workday, the table encourages collaboration and movement. To
elevate the experience, we wrapped the surface in leather for a refined touch, added warm globe lighting, discreet bag hooks, and a central trough for pens and accessories. Even when unoccupied, the table maintains a polished and intentional presence, ensuring the space never feels empty or lifeless.
Repurposing leftover project scraps for personal creative endeavors
From leather scraps to wearable art.
Studio Other Industrial Engineer Verenice Macedo’s interest in sustainable practices and design led her to craft wearable accessories from recycled leather scraps. Inspired by Steampunk design, the leather rings and bracelets she makes blend retro and futuristic aesthetic elements.
Meet Jason, he’s got music in his blood.
Jason Doerr, Studio Other Industrial Engineer, has been perfecting his Luthiery (the construction of stringed instruments) and amp building craft since before he can remember. With a dual love of building and music, he began Kraken Music in partnership with his Uncle Fernando, a retired Aerospace Engineer. Together, they meticulously hand-build wood guitar bodies and amps using locally sourced materials, each piece created with an attention to detail that can only be administered by one with a love for the craft.
Giving wood a second life in her home.
Studio Other Operations Manager Stephanie Bonilla saw an opportunity to give leftover wood from the office reconfiguration another chance at life through some home projects -- including an arbor and bar for a wedding, and a new laundry room cabinet with storage and a folding table.
String art meets custom cutting boards.
From hand-strung art to custom cutting boards, Jason Betty repurposes leftover recycled materials from Studio Other projects, blending color with functionality.
A Study of Form & Branding in Design for Confidential Clothing Brand.
When our confidential clothing brand client moved into their new 116,000-square-foot, 7-floor building in the heart of Hollywood, Studio Other was engaged through architecture and design ODAA to outfit the entire space with all ancillary and custom furniture. The scope of custom furniture included: 500+ workstations, 60 private offices, planters, banquettes, kitchen islands, all meeting room & boardroom tables, a reception desk, and two executive desks for the company’s co-owners.
Because we provided the entire furniture scope for this space, we had the opportunity to carry an overarching theme through all pieces to create a cohesive story. The client wanted a space that exemplified their brand in every way with a neutral palette, rounded edges, textural and soft forms, and a residential feel – while solving problems encountered during their time in their previous space.
Drawing inspiration from the female form, desks in private offices have an hourglass shape while workstations feature an edge detail with a soft rounded radius edge on the bottom and soft touch laminate. Additionally, storage was vital to the client because they stored archives of old product, new product, and pieces they’re inspired by, so curved shelving units were incorporated.
We also came up with a millwork solution, saving them a significant amount of money with a furniturebased solution. In doing that, we had more control over materiality and were able to tie in even the smallest millwork detailing into the overarching theme of the space we were adhering to. We provided islands, receptions, planter dividers, and curved top-desk shelving – all with a soft curved form. The planters were made of powdercoated steel with embedded magnets to allow for easy access to the surrounding felt panels.
The brand’s technical design team works with textiles, handling samples, and sewing. Their previous setup involved many sets of rolling racks, which created a chaotic and disorganized environment. Therefore, we created counter height units with hanging rods on top, and end caps with powder-coated shelving storage to allow for cleaner display and organization. We coordinated the millwork to perfectly match the racks that surround the entire space.
The ancillary furniture we selected worked together with the custom furniture to weave the brand’s narrative and brand throughout every corner. Organic rounded shapes, lush textured fabrics, and warm neutrals established a high-end yet tranquil feel.
