Touch Calendar Highlight: Queensland All Schools Touch Tournament Shines Again!

The Queensland All Schools Touch Tournament never fails to deliver and this year was no exception! Three Tanglin teams and five staff members headed to the Gold Coast for the world’s biggest schools touch tournament, competing in the U13, U15, and U18 categories.

The spirit and camaraderie across all teams were outstanding. Players not only competed fiercely but also supported, coached, and cheered for one another throughout the week. The standard of play was exceptional, and the development across all teams — especially the U13s, many of whom were making their tournament debut was inspiring to watch.

Tanglin Volleyball Teams in Ho Chi Minh

Senior Tanglin volleyball teams traveled to Ho Chi Minh City to compete in the SSIS Dragons Classic Invitational Volleyball Tournament, alongside schools from Vietnam and Cambodia. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable tournament experience and strengthen teamwork ahead of the SEASAC Division 1 Tournament next week.

In a series of tightly contested matches, the girls’ team were crowned champions after a thrilling sudden-death finish against Northbridge International School Cambodia from Phnom Penh, with both teams having multiple match points. The boys’ team began and ended the tournament with victories, but tough matches in between saw them finish in 7th place.

Beyond the court, students explored the city, enjoying local cuisine near the Independence Palace and practicing their bartering skills at Ben Thanh Market. It was a fantastic trip combining competition, learning, and cultural experiences for our young athletes.

Gymnastics Holiday Camps

Our October Camps were a huge success, bringing together students from our youngest nursery gymnasts (as young as 3 years old) to our competitive athletes who spent the break working hard on upgrades, new skills, and continued progress.

Over two exciting weeks, the gym was buzzing with energy and activity! Each day was filled to capacity with enthusiastic participants dancing, learning, and having fun. A special highlight was the visit from our male and female swimmers, led by Coach Bobby and Coach Mylene, who joined us on Friday for a fun-filled gymnastics crossover session.

To wrap up camp, our little ones enjoyed a themed dress-up day and a lively fashion show to celebrate the season’s festivities. Smiles, laughter, and great memories filled the gym - what a fantastic way to end October and enter into our second half of Term 2!
