ART & DESIGN

Year 8 National Gallery Trip

8 & 10 September, National Gallery Singapore

In preparation for our Interpretations event later in the year, Year 8 students take a trip to the National Gallery to immerse themselves in South East Asian Art. They learn about the contextual aspects of the work and develop their analysis skills.

Year 12 Art Yogyakarta

Residential

13-17 September

Year 12 students are invited to take part in an immersive art experience in Yogyakarta. This trip is to provide a solid foundation for the students to build their coursework portfolios. A trip of this quality refines skills and provides a springboard for ideas and the direction that their coursework will take.

Year 9 Charles Fazzino Workshop

15 September

We are honoured to welcome Internationally renowned 3D pop artist Charles Fazzino to Tanglin for an exclusive launch of his new artwork “The Unbelievable Island of Singapore at 60.” This exclusive event offers Senior School students a unique opportunity to create their own artwork in Fazzino’s signature style, instructed by the master himself.

Year 12 Life Drawing Classes

We have the pleasure to invite practising artist Priscilia Kheng to work with our Year 12 students over consecutive evenings. Students have the chance to engage in life drawing - a fundamental experience in Art education.

GCSE and A Level Coursework Days

November

Art students have the chance to work for a sustained period of time on rounding off their coursework unit.

Chen Shitong – Collagraph Workshop

Chen Shitong will return to Tanglin for his annual printmaking workshop. This experience gives our Year 12 students the opportunity to work with the technique of collagraph printing.

ARTICULATION Singapore Public Speaking Competition

December

Co-organised by National Gallery Singapore (the Gallery) and the Singapore Art Museum (SAM), in conjunction with National Gallery, London, the competition is designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of art among youths. Year 10-13 students will engage in first round heats to present their speech to gain a place in the semi finals for Articulation Singapore.

DRAMA

James & Noel’s Workshop on Sister Act

2-4 October

Join West End stars James Bennett and Noel Sullivan for an electrifying 3-day workshop on our senior school musical, Sister Act! Dive into professional-level performance, vocals, and staging with industry legends. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to shine and bring the show to life.

Dance Show

3 November

This year’s Dance Showcase theme is ‘Connections’. Through movement, we express ties to music, culture, places, and one another— beyond words. The showcase is for everyone, beginner or experienced, boys and girls alike. Join us in celebrating the joy of dance and building your own connection with our community.

Year 10-13 PerformanceBrainstorm by Ned Glasier

26 November

Brainstorm is a dynamic, collaborative play exploring the teenage brain through science and personal stories. Created with neuroscientists and performed by teens, it blends raw emotion and insight to reveal the chaos, beauty, and transformation of adolescence. A powerful celebration of youth, identity, and understanding across generations.

Year 9 Performance - When This is Over by Ned Glasier

8 December

When This is Over is the story of real teenage lives in their own voice. At the heart of this place is a question about time, connections, and our shared futures in the face of world challenges. This is a part devised, part scripted play that allows our young students ownership over what they want to say in a performance format.

MUSIC

Music Tutors Concert

3 September, 5pm, BBPH

Our fabulous team of Instrumental Tutors will be taking to the stage to showcase the breadth of talent we have in our instrumental team. This hour-long event will be an inspiration for our student musicians and parents alike.

Centenary Music Scholars’

Concert

18 September, 6pm, CHIJMES Hall

An inaugural concert for the Tanglin Trust Centenary Music Scholars to showcase their talent. Tickets by invitation only.

Informal Concert

23 September, 5.30pm, Recital Room

An opportunity for musicians of all ages and abilities to perform in front of a small, supportive audience. These concerts are designed to support our musicians as they develop performance skills and confidence.

Senior Ensembles Concert

5 November, 6.30pm, SOTA Concert Hall

This exciting concert will feature a number of our Senior ensembles performing a broad range of musical genre in a prestigious concert hall. This will undoubtedly be one of the musical highlights of the term.

Remembrance Sunday

9 November, 7.30am, Kranji War Memorial

The annual Remembrance Service at Kranji War Memorial is a beautiful and poignant event in which Tanglin students will perform as part of a combined school choir.

Formal Solo & Chamber Music Concert

11 November, 6pm, Recital Room

This formal recital, held in the intimate setting of our Recital Room, will feature a mix of soloists and small chamber ensembles, presenting a varied programme of music.

Informal Concert

18 November, 5.30pm, Recital Room

An opportunity for musicians of all ages and abilities to perform in front of a small, supportive audience. These concerts are designed to support our musicians as they develop performance skills and confidence.

Junior Ensembles Concert

20 November, 6pm, BBPH

This concert will showcase some of our Junior ensembles in a varied evening of music making.

St George’s Festival of Music

5 December, 6.30pm. St George’s Church

For many in the Tanglin community, the Festival of Music at St. George’s Church marks the start of Christmas. Audience members will be treated to festive music performed by Infant, Junior and Senior students followed by mulled wine, mince pies and carol singing in the courtyard.

Christmas Jazz Night

8 December, 6pm, Chandran Studio

An opportunity to enjoy our fabulous jazz ensembles in a relaxed setting, rounding off a busy term. There will be old standards, modern tunes, and a few festive favourites thrown in for good measure!

FILM

Year 13 Film Production Day

26 September

Year 13 Film and Media students will engage in film production projects, developing technical film and media skills and participating in creative, real-world, and collaborative group activities.

Year 12/13 A-Level Film Production Weekend

28-30 November

A and AS Level Media Studies students will spend an intensive long weekend focusing on the principal photography for their courseworkthe opening to a thriller for Year 12 and a music video for Year 13. They will work collaboratively in production groups, with each student directing their own project.

Year 12 Hitchcock Production Day 31 October

Year 12 Film and Media students will engage in film production projects related to the work of the famous director, Alfred Hitchcock. They will develop technical film and media skills and participate in creative and collaborative group activities as they attempt to emulate the work of the great director.
