The Co-Curriculum is central to our mission of providing a holistic education, enabling our Tanglin students to fulfil their potential and leave school future ready. Whether your child’s passions lie in Sports, the Arts, the outdoors or in academia, there really is something for everyone here at Tanglin and I hope that what you find in this booklet proves exciting, motivating and challenging for your child. Beyond the skills and knowledge they will acquire in the Co-Curriculum, the different learning experiences, whether on the sports field, in a rehearsal room, on the stage or on a school trip, help the children in our care to flourish as people, determining who they are and what their hobbies for life might be. Co-curricular endeavour also provides students the space and experience of handling adversity and challenge, making them more able to navigate life’s bumps with confidence and good humour. WEDNESDAY P5 Advanced Chemistry Society
ARTiculation: Public Speaking
Year: 12-13 Do you have a love for Chemistry? Are you interested in expanding your knowledge and understanding beyond the classroom, and to put it to the test? If yes, then this Society is for you. The Society will provide opportunities to study advanced concepts in chemistry such as quantum and molecular orbital theories, symmetry operations and photochemistry. This Society is aimed at students who want to prepare for undergraduate studies in the chemical sciences, build confidence when speaking about scientific concepts and who enjoy discussing pertinent scientific issues. This Society will also provide preparation for the Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad, and give you the opportunity to take part in this challenging event!

Essential Cooking Club: University and Beyond Year: 13 Started thinking about life beyond Tanglin yet? One of the necessities is to know how to cook! Let your inner chef out in our Essential Cooking Skills CCA. This course is designed for beginner Sixth Form students. You will learn some basic kitchen skills and techniques as you cook a new dish every week. Dishes will vary between sweet and savoury. You will need to bring your own container every week to take your dishes home. We cook in the Lifeskills kitchen, so class size is limited to 24. Get your apron on and let’s start cooking!

This CCA allows you to prepare a speech for Articulation SG, a nationwide public speaking competition. Co-organised by National Gallery Singapore (the Gallery) and the Singapore Art Museum (SAM), in conjunction with National Gallery, London, the competition is designed, the competition is designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of art among youths. Articulation invites leading arts experts and practitioners to adjudicate the Semi-finals and Grand Finals, where students deliver their presentations to them and an audience. Emphasis is placed on research, presentation skills, original thought, and evidence of each speaker’s unique potential.
Galileo Galilei Advanced Physics Society Year: 12-13 This society will allow students who have a deep interest in Physics to challenge themselves by learning about some of the more advanced areas of Physics that they are unable to learn about in the classroom. Through a mixture of lectures, projects, guided research, scientific investigation and hopefully guest speakers students will be able to learn about fascinating areas of Physics including Special Relativity, General Relativity, Field Theory, The Higgs Boson, Dark Energy and Dark Matter, Cosmology as well as discovering some of the amazing breakthroughs in the field of Physics from history. Perfect for anyone with an interest in Physics and ideal for those wishing to pursue Physics or Engineering at university.
WEDNESDAY P5 Gardner’s World: Maths Society Year: 12-13 Gardner's World is the Senior Maths Society, an opportunity for pupils across the Upper School and Sixth Form to find out more about the beauty of mathematics. There will be puzzles, lectures, guest speakers and opportunities to work together on projects to gain a deep understanding of different areas of the subject. This society will also include maths competition preparation sessions.
Law Society Year: 13 Are you interested in law? Do legal trials in the news frequently grab your eye? Do you find yourself watching true crime shows and movies on the daily? If so, then the Tanglin Law Society is the place for you! TLS is a forum of discovery and inspiration perfect for aspiring lawyers, academics or those simply interested in the legal profession. Entirely student-led, this Society centres around legal discussions, debates, and mock trials in which members can realise their legal dreams in a quasi-court setting, while engaging with students across the Senior School. If you’re thinking about law for the future, this is the perfect extracurricular to flesh out your application and demonstrate a passion and experience in the subject.
MedSoc Year: 13 Are you interested in going to medical school and pursuing a career as a Doctor or Vet? At Medsoc we will discuss all manner of things medical from recent medical breakthroughs and medicine in the news to helping you prepare for the interviews. You will even get the opportunity to do some suturing!
French Debate Club (Joutes Oratoires) Year: 12-13 The French Debate Club runs in Term 1 only. It is aimed mainly at Year 12 IB French Language B and French mother tongue students preparing for the annual “Joutes Oratoires” competition. This CCA helps participants develop their debating skills, build confidence in spoken French, and practise arguing ideas clearly and convincingly. It is also open to Year 11 French students interested in debating and improving their oral skills, as well as Year 13 French Language B students who have previously taken part in the competition and would like to help train this year’s team.
Motomami: Rosalia & the Remix of Culture (Spanish) Year: 12-13 What happens when flamenco meets reggaeton, classical music meets TikTok, and one artist reshapes global culture? In this Spanish activity, we place Rosalía at the heart of an exciting, inquiry-led exploration into music, art, and identity in the modern world. Using her work as a starting point, we will examine how she blends tradition and innovation, sparking conversations about authenticity, cultural appropriation, feminism, religion, and visual storytelling. Along the way, we’ll connect her influence on the wider rise of Spanish-language music, exploring artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G, and asking what it means for politics, representation, and power. Through discussion, debate, and creative experimentation, you’ll create your own project. At the end of the programme, your work will be showcased in a live exhibition evening: a gallery-style event with performances, student-led displays, music, and tapas, where you present your ideas to a real audience.

Year: 12-13 Economics Society has a focus on sharpening your talents for Higher Education. In practice, this includes guided journeys through the latest academic research and debate alongside providing activities to apply your growing knowledge to achieve commercial and academic outcomes. You should choose this Society if you are looking for support in your inquiry of Economics and you would like opportunities to apply your Economic thought.
STEM Racing is a competitive programme, and selected students must be prepared to make a sustained commitment to the project throughout the season. Entry into the STEM Racing CCA requires prior completion of the CAD/CAM CCA, demonstrating both a high level of technical skill and a strong commitment to Design & Technology activities. Tanglin Literary Society Year: 10-13 TLC is a space to share your passion for literature, develop your thinking, and explore a world of writing beyond the classroom. Through lectures and seminars, you will engage with a wide range of literary works, movements, and critical perspectives, developing a rich understanding of how literature reflects and shapes the world around us. Whether discussing poetry, prose or drama, you will be challenged to think critically, analyse closely, and engage with diverse interpretations. TLC members will also have the opportunity to lead the annual TTS Eliot Poetry Symposium, bringing together students from schools across Singapore to celebrate poetry and take part in wider literary conversations. TLC is particularly suited to students considering studying English Literature at Sixth Form and university, as well as any student who wants to cultivate a lifelong appreciation of literature.
WEDNESDAY P5 The Institute Entrepreneurship Programme Year: 12 Selective Year 12 programme for students who want to become the intern, graduate, founder or team member organisations seek: someone who can take an idea from discussion, test if solves a real problem, build it into a business model and pitch confidently to leaders from Standard Chartered, Novo Tellus Capital Partners and HSBC. You develop skills valuable in any future industry: leadership, resilience, communication, rapid problem-solving, teamwork and strategic thinking, shaping business or social enterprise ideas that address real problems. The Institute Research Programme Year: 12 The Institute Research Programme is a selective opportunity for Year 12 students who are passionate about STEM research and want to experience what real research requires. Students selected for the programme in Year 12 will work with the Institute Fellow and university researchers on a one-year programme. Students will extend their learning beyond the taught curriculum, ask research questions, engage with academic literature, analyse evidence and communicate their findings through a research paper and poster presentation.To sign up and for more information please see Dr Hidden.
Senior Play: Antigone Day/Time: Wednesday P5-5pm Year: 10+ The Senior Play is an exciting opportunity for students to get involved in some acting that is going to extend their experience as performers. Students will collaborate and be part of a creative team while working towards a final public performance on the 3rd December, so this is a single term commitment. It’s a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills and challenge yourself. If you’re passionate about theatre or keen to try something new, the Senior Play is the perfect chance to get involved. Antigone: It’s party time in Thebes! The war is over, the city has a new ruler, and the future looks bright... what could possibly go wrong? The stage is set for the tragedy of Antigone, the devoted yet defiant princess determined to honour her dead brother, whatever the cost. Standing in her way is her uncle Creon, king and lawmaker. This inventive retelling of Sophocles' 2,500-year-old masterpiece combines humour, energy and dynamic staging to place the audience at the heart of the action. As family loyalty collides with the rule of law, one question remains: Who is right... state or family?

In the Debate Society, students will be tackling some of the greatest issues that face us today. Through debate, students will challenge each other on such topics as climate change, water scarcity and food shortages and try to find solutions to these important problems. They will also develop important skills in research, expressing ideas and engaging with the ideas of others. Students can also use this CCA to train for the World Scholar's Cup, for which the Singapore Round will take place in early Term 3.
The Debate Squad is selected from our most able Debaters. Anyone interested should consider signing up for the Debate Society, and contact Mr Sheppard to discuss.

E-Sports Club Day/Time: Year: 7-13 The E-Sports CCA provides students with a structured and engaging environment to develop their passion for competitive gaming. Through regular training sessions, students build teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking skills while competing in a range of popular titles. The programme promotes good sportsmanship, resilience, and digital literacy, with opportunities to represent the school in competitions.
Interested in the politics of global issues such as the environment, human rights and conflict resolution? Model United Nations (MUN) is a student-led Club that will allow you to explore these issues, and more besides. In MUN, you will take on roles as diplomats, research issues, debate and deliberate with other delegates, and try to find solutions to real world problems. There are also student leadership opportunities for committed delegates. Absolutely no prior experience is required, and all ability levels are welcome.

Day/Time: Wednesday, P6-5pm Year: 12 Join our 10-week Big Data in Medicine cocurricular programme, where students collaborate with a leading Oxford professor to explore how large-scale, open-access biomedical datasets can answer real-world medical questions. Through hands-on investigation and guided mentorship, participants will learn to analyse authentic health data, identify patterns, and generate meaningful insights across areas such as disease trends, treatment outcomes, and public health challenges. This programme develops critical thinking, data literacy, and research skills, empowering students to engage with the future of evidence-based medicine while contributing to impactful, realworld scientific inquiry.
Day/Time: Tuesday, 4-5pm Year: 10-13 This student-led Society is for students looking to strengthen their interest in a multitude of topics in the field of engineering, and get started on their journey as a future engineer. In Term 1, sessions will cover theory lessons , guest presentations, and practical projects. Throughout the term, we invite students and professors from top institutions like Cambridge and Stanford to share their knowledge and experience to help you better understand your career pathway. Students apply these new skills by working in teams to explore aerodynamic optimization of a remote controlled car, while learning about fluid analysis software used by professionals. Later in the term, students will move into the design and manufacturing phase, by shaping a custom shell for the high speed car. A final race and presentation will determine the winning team, with prizes to be won. We will also explore options for engineering-oriented field trips as well as opportunities to represent the school in prestigious competitions, making this the perfect opportunity for any students interested in building their university profile for engineering, or any STEM related field.
Science: Gold CREST Award Day/Time: Tuesday, 4-5pm Year: 12-13 Curious about how science and technology are shaping the world of tomorrow? The GOLD CREST Award Club offers students the opportunity to design and carry out their own independent research projects, while exploring real-world challenges at the cutting edge of innovation. With a strong focus on Aviation, Sustainability and Climate Science, and Future Healthcare, students will investigate topics such as greener flight technologies, renewable energy solutions, climate resilience, medical breakthroughs, and emerging health technologies. This programme encourages creativity, critical thinking, and resilience, empowering students to become future-ready innovators who can contribute meaningfully to solving global challenges. Theory Club Day/Time: Monday P6 Year: 7-13 Music Theory and Aural Club is only for students working towards ABRSM theory exams and for those that have already completed Grade 1 Theory. We will cover a range of Theory including scales and key signatures, intervals, chords and harmony, technical terms, musical devices and much more. Symphonic Wind Ensemble Day/Time: Wednesday, 4-5pm Year Group: 7-13 Open to students who play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. This group will play standard band repertoire as well as tackle more popular pieces.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards Day/Time: Various Year Group: 10-13 The Duke of Edinburgh International Award is a renowned and internationally-recognised programme that empowers young individuals to challenge themselves, discover their potential, and contribute to their communities. Founded by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, this award offers a unique framework for personal development and self-improvement. Participants of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award engage in a variety of activities of their choosing across four key areas: voluntary service, physical recreation, skill development, and the adventurous journey. By volunteering, they learn the importance of giving back and making a positive impact on society. Through physical recreation, they prioritize their health and wellbeing while fostering discipline and perseverance. Skills development encourages them to explore their interests and talents, whether it be learning an instrument, mastering a new language, or honing their artistic abilities. Lastly, participants embark on adventurous journeys, which challenge them both mentally and physically, fostering resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. At Tanglin, we will develop their outdoor education skills and provide opportunities to practice the adventurous journey section of the award. EXPLORATION SOCIETY Outdoor Core Skills 3

Outdoor Core Skills:3 is part 3 in a progressive skills series in senior school. it is designed for students undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and forms a core part of the expedition section of the programme. Open to students completing their Bronze Award in Term 1, this course develops the essential skills required for successful expeditions, including navigation, route planning, campcraft, risk management, teamwork, and outdoor safety.
*Term 2* This series offers students the opportunity to develop foundational sailing skills while building leadership qualities in a teamoriented environment. Students learn core competencies such as sail handling, boat balance, and teamwork on the water, alongside essential maritime knowledge including right of way rules, tidal awareness, navigation maps, and sea charts. Through shared challenges, students build resilience, communication, and decisionmaking skills. As part of the program, students take part in a school regatta, gaining first-hand experience in a friendly racing environment. They also have the option to complete their sailing proficiency test and work towards recognised Personal Skills Awards, providing tangible milestones for their progress. The series concludes with a sailing expedition, where students put their skills and teamwork to the test on open water.
The emphasis is on making informed decisions, managing risk, solving problems and adapting when conditions change, providing a pathway towards larger, longer and more technically challenging expeditions.

Tanglin Merlions is a competitive swim programme that has squads for different levels and abilities including Development, Competitive and Performance. All swimmers have the opportunity to race in the Merlions Gala each term, and competitive swimmers are selected to represent the school at ACSIS and SEASAC competitions, and international meets such as Feeding Frenzy, Western Australia State Championships and the prestigious Australian Age Championships.
Tanglin Lions gymnastics offers classes for all levels and abilities within our club programme. Through our competitive to performance pathway, gymnasts also have the opportunity to represent the school in national and international competitions.
New students who are interested in joining the Merlions can contact Merlions@tts.edu.sg to arrange for an assessment and meet the coaching staff. Merlions Swimming is a paid programme that primarily uses the weather proof 50m pool at the Tanglin Centenary Building Aquatic Centre, as well as the Athletic Development Gym.
All students Year 7+ who are interested in joining gymnastics must email: gymnastics@tts.edu.sg to arrange for an open assessment regardless of previous experience. The Gymnastics Programme is a paid, year-round programme that runs Monday to Friday, and Saturday morning.
SPORT Climbing Day/Time: Tuesdays/Wednesday/Thursdays, 4-6pm Year Group: 7-13 Cost: $650 per term The Tanglin Climbing Team sessions are designed to challenge and stretch our most able climbers with sessions that utilise both the Centenary Climbing Wall and Lighthouse Climbing Gym. All students are welcomed to join, with the opportunity to be selected for a number of competitions both in Singapore and overseas.

LAMDA Acting - Year 9-10 Day/Time: Monday, 4.15-5.45pm Year Group: 9-10 Cost: $55/session Students work towards their Grade 5 in Year 9 and or their first ‘medal’ Grade 6 (Bronze) in Year 10. While making new friends and working towards their exams in either solo acting or with a partner in a combined duologue. Students not only look at performance skills but also begin building their own technical expertise and are introduced to the technicalities of professional theatre. Acting - Examination Duologues/Combination. Term 3 is our examination term. Exams are optional and exam fees will be administered closer to the exam. UCAS points are awarded to Year 10 students taking their Bronze level exam. Acting - Year 7-8 Day/Time: Tuesday, 4.15-5.45pm Year Group: 7-8 Cost: $55/session Students work towards Grade 3 in Year 7 and Grade 4 in Year 8 building in the previous year’s work and gaining further confidence and boosting their own self-esteem. Acting Medals - Year 11-13 Day/Time: Wednesday, 4.15-5.45pm Year Group: 11-13 Cost: $65/session Students work at a more mature level and are expected to do more of their own research, including self selection of 3 contrasting pieces and further insight into the technical aspects of theatre, such as breath control, writing styles and study of theatre practitioners. These result in Bronze, Silver and Gold medals and each grade comes with UCAS points for UK university entry, are also eligible for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and can be used towards the American College Application forms. THE MOVEMENT STUDIO Ballet Day/Time: Monday, 4:15-5:15pm Year Group: 8-11 Cost: $34/session Our classes incorporate both ATOD (Australian Teacher of Dancing), an internationally recognised syllabus and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), one of the most influential dance education. Both professional membership organisations will giving them a strong foundation for technique. Classes are designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement in dance. Students will get the opportunity to be recommended by the teachers for exams yearly. We hope to inspire the children to appreciate ballet and develop coordination, poise, musicality, confidence and a lifelong love of the performing arts.
Jazz Day/Time: Monday, 5:15-6:15pm Year Group: 7-11 Cost: $34/session We will take great care to hone the students’ flexibility and strength through a variety of conditioning work and stretching exercises. Students can expect different dynamic and energetic/flowy movements filled with jumps, turns, and kicks in this class! Music can vary from fast pop music to slow pop music, introducing them to different textures and therefore different ways and styles to move! Free expression and improvisation is also explored in this class.
Lyrical Contemporary Day/Time: Wednesday, 4-5pm Year Group: 7-9 Cost: $34/session Contemporary dance is expressive, subtle and dynamic, expressing emotions through movement. Students can expect to learn different dynamics of movements and Release technique. Release is a very different dance technique in comparison to ballet but they both have the same sense of musicality & ensemble. We will introduce them to different textures and therefore different ways and styles to move! Free expression, improvisation and contact improvisation is also explored in this class. It’s about sharing the weight, rolling, suspending, falling, passive & active energy & awareness.
SPORT Goju Ryu Karate Day/Time: Thursday, 4-5pm Year Group: 7-11 Cost: $40/session Our Programme is about incorporating karate-do into a fun and fitness training of karate and selfdefence skills. The physical training will improve one’s agility, flexibility, strength, coordination and motor skills development. The mental training enhances self-discipline, self-esteem, humility, respect for others and resilience. The programme will cover the following aspects. Basic and advance karate-do techniques and movements. Physical coordination training. Self defense techniques and awareness. Group activities and games. During practice all karatekas will have to wear the karate gi/uniform of which is to be purchased from us. The cost of the karate gi uniform will be from $85 depending on the size needed. Registration fee of $50. The Golf Collective - Just Golf Day/Time: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 4-5pm Year Group: 7-13 Cost: $60/session Just-Golf classes are designed to be fun and engaging whilst learning about all aspects of the game. Students will learn the basic fundamentals to get started as well as all of the different skills needed to play out on the course. Classes are open to students with different ability levels. The Just-Golf Junior Programme has a 5-level Passport curriculum. Students will work through the Passport levels, progressing from complete beginner to accomplished golfer over time through instruction and practice. The indoor golf facility on level 6 of the Centenary Building has golf simulators and a large artificial putting green. Students will be able to practice on a virtual range as well as on-course practice and playing rounds on a variety of top courses from around the world.
SPORT Tennis Club Day/Time: Wednesday, 3-5.30pm Year Group: 7-10 Cost: $390 per term This activity is suitable for beginner and intermediate-level tennis players. Pupils will have the opportunity to develop their core tennis skills, including movement, racket control, consistency, and basic game understanding, in a supportive and engaging environment.
