While all this was happening, however, the three biggest old-line media companies — Disney, NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia — largely stayed on the sidelines.

LOS ANGELES — Every three decades, or roughly once a generation, Hollywood experiences a seismic shift. The transition from silent films to talkies in the 1920s. The rise of broadcast television in the 1950s. The raucous “I Want My MTV” cable boom of the 1980s.

When it became clear that protecting their existing business model was more perilous than embracing the future, no matter now disruptive in the near term, they would act.

It is happening again. The long-promised streaming revolution — the next great leap in how the world gets its entertainment — is finally here.

That time is now. And everything is changing.

Richard Greenfield, a founder of the LightShed Partners research firm, wrote in a client note. “Virtually every ambitious, must-see TV show is headed for a direct-to-consumer platform, with TV/basic cable taking the proverbial leftovers.”

Streaming services, of course, have been challenging the Hollywood status quo for years. Netflix has grown into a giant, spending $12 billion on programming this year to entertain 166 million subscribers worldwide. There are 271 online video services available in the United States, according to the research firm Parks Associates, one for seemingly every predilection — Pongalo

CONCEPT Playing off the new streaming services being launched this year like Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus, create the sitcom - Dick Apple’s Supper Club - for direct-to-consumer distribution at arbys.com a.k.a. Arby’s Plus.

What we love about it is that Arby’s can not only play a role in shaping the original comedy content from the beginning with creator Erik Stolhanske (Super Troopers, Beerfest) and the creative geniuses at Fallon, but Arby’s (or any Inspire brand of choice) can be a character in the half hour sitcom. Perhaps Arby’s is trying to start a new line of ‘Lakeside Restaurants’ and wants to buy Dick Apple’s Supper Club and turn it into an Arby’s or Buffalo Wild Wings? Arby’s or BWW then becomes a character in the plot line over the course of the season.

AN ESTABLISHED BR AND. CREATOR, ERIK STOLHANSKE Stolhanske is an actor, writer, producer, and member of the comedy group Broken Lizard.

He has co-written, produced, and starred in all of Broken Lizards’ films – including Beerfest, Puddle Cruiser, Super Troopers, Club Dread, The Slammin’ Salmon, and Super Troopers 2. He is best known for his role as “Rabbit” in the hit cop-comedy, Super Troopers.

Using the crowd-sourcing site Indiegogo, Broken Lizard raised more than $4.5m from fans to make Super Troopers 2 – the sequel to Super Troopers. The movie was released

by Fox Searchlight in theaters nationwide on April 20th, 2018. And, on Friday, April 20th, 2018 Super Troopers 2 was the #1 movie in America.

What’s exciting about this opportunity is that if we launched Dick Apple’s Supper Club on Arby’s Plus (or BWW Plus) it would be a unique singular event which press would want to cover.

Product placement in the show. A good example is the new Apple TV Plus original show ‘The Morning Show’. The show also, it turns out, doubles as an extended commercial for the gadgets that drive the company’s business. Apple products are visible in an average of 32 camera shots per episode, and an Apple logo is visible in a third of those shots, according to a Wall Street Journal tally from viewing all 10 episodes of the first season.”

But all that changed when inspiration hit the Midwest’s own Lawrence Frank.

“I’ve got it!” said Larry. “I’ll combine live entertainment with a place that serves food!”

And a new Friday night tradition was born.
