A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
What a year! When I look back to early 2020 and the start of COVID-19, I am reminded of Allan Steinberg who was one of the nicest men at Tamarisk. Perpetually amiable and always with a light upbeat pattern; and then he was gone in a blink. I think of Elliott and Judith Cohen who went back to Atlanta to be with the “kids”, went to a funeral and were soon struck down by COVID-19. They were married many years and passed within hours of each other.
“I trust the next year will treat us better than this year and we will eventually have the luxury of spending more time with friends.”
We also lost a long-time member, Mary Werksman and at the end of this year, Fred Mardell. Yet there were many who contracted the virus and were able to fight it. This pandemic has delivered the unexpected on many different levels. Yet, we are residing in paradise and need to remind ourselves how fortunate we are and how fortunate we are to have each other. Tamarisk is like a giant switchboard connecting us together. I am proud to be part of it and I am grateful to be connected to all of you. In spite of the pandemic, we have also had our share of positive advances with Membership growth and welcoming our new and younger Members. The management team at Tamarisk has done a wonderful job in these tough times and I congratulate them. We need to stay close to home and hunker down for a little while longer. I trust the next year will treat us better than this year and we will eventually have the luxury of spending more time with friends. I look forward to that, now is the time to stay safe. On behalf of the entire staff at Tamarisk and myself, we hope you had the happiest of holidays and the warmest of New Years. I look forward to being with you in person soon!

Chad Johnson Chief Operating Officer
A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and wish you and your loved ones a safe and prosperous New Year. As I am writing this in late December, we are about to close out 2020 and look ahead to the new year with a renewed sense of appreciation for our Club, each other, and the promise of things to come. Over the past nine months, we have experienced a level of challenge and uncertainty beyond what anyone thought possible one year ago. We have learned much during that time and found new ways to ensure our members could still enjoy the Club in a safe environment. As we now look to 2021, I am very optimistic about things to come for Tamarisk. We have tremendous people working in many areas of the Club to ensure a strong future for this great Club. Whether it’s members who are volunteering their time to serve the Club, or our dedicated staff who always seem to have a smile on their faces, I can’t help but feel that no matter what the challenge is, we are going to be fine. The new year also represents, in many ways, a fresh start. A chance to meet new members, invite old and new friends for a round of golf or a game of tennis. I am encouraged when I walk around the Club and see our members enjoying their time at the Club. Regardless of the circumstances, we will continue to focus on what we can do vs. what we cannot. We will continue to find new ways to create memorable experiences, and we will continue to ensure, to the best of our ability, that our Club is a safe place for our members to enjoy. I look forward to seeing you all at the Club very soon!

L E T T H E C LU B D O T H E TA L K I N G To each and everyone of you, I would like to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! It is with great pleasure I introduce you to the participants of our Preview Program. With gratitude, I can say it is your personal invitations to your friends and colleagues that has enabled us to introduce these six new families to the club. Each, will have the opportunity to endulge in all of the perks of our Tamarisk Membership for a two-month period. Do as you do, extending invites to play golf, tennis, gaming, book clubs. Help connect one another to their areas of interest. This is the foundation for enduring relationships and a strong social comaraderie. Now that they are signed up, we have to let the Club speak for itself. These Preview Participants get to discover the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Tamarisk. They will fall in love with our attentive staff who always makes one feel at home. They will experience course conditions among the finest in the valley, they will be spoiled with our first-class culinary, and watch them as they too appreciate the full scope of becoming part of this close knit community. At the end of their Preview term, each should feel as though they belong and are are part of the Tamarisk Family. It is then they have the opportunity to convert to a full Membership.

E N J O Y T A M A R I S K I N E V E R Y W AY On behalf of the entire staff at golf course maintenance, I would like to thank you for your generous holiday bonus. The bonus is definitely a morale booster for everyone this year and we look forward to a great 2021! The golf course has been holding up remarkably well this year given the amount of golf cart traffic it has endured. Thank you to all who are parking on the paths around the greens. This helps keep the turf in much better condition. As we are in frost delay season I have had some questions regarding the length of delay or why there is a delay when the temperature on your phone is above freezing. The first reason is to protect your property from cart damage on frozen turf. Water freezes at different temperatures depending on humidity. The lower the humidity, the higher the temperature the freeze happens. Another factor is that golf course maintenance has to groom the golf course prior to play. It takes approximately 2.5 hours to prep the entire golf course. Please have patience during a delay as we only have the best interest of keeping your property in great condition for the entire season. ■
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Employees should be reconized for their excellence and the value they bring to our organization. Collectively, they work hard to create a product that all of us are proud of. Individually, they contribute and inspire - creating a ripple effect. A deserving recipient of this kind of recognition is our longest tenured employee, Adrian Rucoba. Adrian began his career at Tamarisk July nd 2 , 1979. He came to the United States at the young age of twenty from San Louis Potosi, Mexico. Adrian married his wife Hortencia 43 years ago. Together, they have two children and three grandchildren. Adrian followed in his father’s footsteps. He moved to the United States to have an opportunity at a better quality of life. He worked along side his father who was also a Tamarisk employee. Over the years, Adrian has done all jobs in the Golf Course Maintenance ranks until settling on Assistant Mechanic about 20 years ago. When it comes to loyalty, no one can beat him. We are honored to have Adrian as part of the Tamarisk Family. We hope he sticks around for many more years to come! ■

AROUND THE CLUBHOUSE The year 2020 ended on high note for the Club as our New Year’s Eve To-Go dinner set a new record with over 175 orders. Thank you to all for your support throughout this year. Our Clubhouse Staff has done an amazing job of stepping up and into different roles when called upon. I am so proud of each and every one of them. We are all blessed to be part of this amazing community at Tamarisk and as we move into a New Year I am confident better days lie ahead. Below is a quick summary of our current and future plans for Club operations. RE-OPENING PLAN – Our re-opening plan will mirror the California color coded tier system. For each color (Purple, Red, Orange & Yellow) members will have a clear outline of the areas of the club that are open and what amenities are provided. This will provide members and staff alike direction and allow everyone to safely get back to enjoying the Club. LOCKER ROOMS – Locker room attendants are available from 8 am to 4 pm daily for Members needing assistance, shoe service or access to their lockers. Unfortunately card rooms, showers, sauna and all toiletries are closed at this time per the States COVID-19 guidelines. VALET – Josh and his valet team are now providing delivery service for all of our to go offerings. If you would like any of your food delivered please let your Tamarisk staff member know when you place your order and we will bring it right to your front door. MAINTENANCE – Aldo and his team have done a wonderful job using this time of closure to get numerous projects completed. The Snack Shop patio project was recently completed and it looks great! We will continue to focus on preventative maintenance projects as we move into the New Year to keep your Club looking its best. FRONT DESK RECEPTION – Our Front Desk is operating under a modified schedule during the current stay-at-home order. Hours are from 8 am to 4:30 pm, daily. Please call 760-328-2141 to make an appointment for any Front Desk services such as bill review, check cashing, notary service, etc. We want to ensure your safety! Wake Up With Tamarisk Tent – Stop by the tent for complimentary coffee and light bites. Open daily from 7:30 to 11 am. The tent is located on the golf cart landing area by the first tee.

MAKE YOUR OWN
PISTACHIO BRITTLE
Peter Stau Executive Chef
This recipe will require a sugar thermometer and a Silpat mat, both are available on Amazon Ingredients: 2 cups of light corn syrup 4 cups granulated sugar 1 cup water 4 cups shelled unsalted pistachios 3 tsp salt 2 tsp Vanilla Extract 1.5 tsp Baking Soda 3 table spoons soft Butter Using a nonreactive pot (stainless steel), bring first three ingredients to a slow boil until the temperature reaches 250°. Stir occasionally, add pistachios and salt. Continue cooking until temperature reaches 295 degrees. Stirring constantly, add remaining ingredients and bring back to a boil. Pour mixture onto a baking sheet lined with the silpat mat. Using a metal spatula or wooden spoon, spread mix evenly. Once mixture has cooled enough to handle, pull sugar sheets to desire thickness. Let cool completely before storing, brittle can be stored in airtight container up to a month. WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH SUGAR MIXTURE WHILE STILL HOT
SPECIAL DELIVERY BUZZ ■ If you are wondering what the buzz is all about, Tamarisk wanted our neighbors to know we are here for them. Our team of experts came up with the idea of delivering care packages throughout the neighborood to non-member residences. These packages included Pistacho Brittle accompanied by a list of services and amenities that one would expect to recieve as a TCC Member. Pastry Chef, Oscar went to work making enough brittle to fill 100 packages. While we don’t have drone’s to do the drop, we do have golf carts! These residences will find a special treat at their door which will hopefully bring a smile to their face.
OUR FIRST WINEMAKER DINNER ■ Saturday, January 16th featuring David Tate, Winemaker and General Manager of Barnett Vineyards. David will be walking members through his process of wine making for Barnett and also for his own private label, Tate Vineyards. Chef Peter has created an amazing menu to accompany these vibrant wines. This is an interactive virtual event. You will have access to video footage created by David and his team, enjoy dinner from the comfort of your home, and then a live Q&A with David and his wife Susan on Zoom. RSVP to Food & Beverage Manager, Steve Santana at steve@tamariskcc.com. 9
