With the holiday season upon us there’s lots of activity at Tamarack. This is a great time of year to be here at America’s only ski, golf, and lake resort—so many things are going on I can’t mention them all. I would like to highlight a few, however. The new Member’s Lounge has been eagerly anticipated and gives me great pleasure to announce that it is now open. It’s located in the heart of The Village and is already becoming a place to gather and have fun for Member families.

Holiday Activities – We have some great activities planned at the Member’s Lounge and other locations. We are putting on our inaugural holiday mixer and it will be open to the entire community of owners, not just Members.

The new Lounge facility demonstrates our commitment to deliver abundant, accessible experiences and modern amenities that continue to make Tamarack the premier resort community in the West.

Ski Season – Let’s not forget ski season either—the Discovery Chairlift carried riders to some freshly groomed slopes with some thrilling mini terrain park features during our Winter Preview Weekend. Daily lift operations are anticipated to start December 9 (weather permitting). Tamarack truly has some of the best runs in all of the West. In total, we offer 50 Alpine ski runs (with seven lifts) for the beginner and enthusiast alike. Boundless Passes are available for the season so be sure to go online and get yours so you can enjoy the powder on opening day.

In addition to skiing, we offer snowshoeing, cross country skiing, guided ice fishing, and fat-biking. Plus, the Boundless Pass lets you enjoy all four seasons of Tamarack’s outdoor amenities and recreational offerings at a reasonable expense compared to other resorts. The Boundless Pass grants access to lift-accessible hiking and downhill mountain biking in the warmer months—as well as free stand-up paddle boarding and kayak rentals.

Special Incentives & Offerings – I want to remind everyone that you have until December 31 to secure a Charter Membership: this Special Offering is only extended till the end of year. Charter Membership lets you and your family experience everything Tamarack has to offer at a great value. Additionally, I want to emphasize the reduced pricing and special incentives we have on our Move-In Ready Homes. Gregg is joining the Tam Fam from Texas where he was managing director for Woodlands Hotels, a trio of award-winning properties – The Woodlands Resort Curio Collection, The Westin at The Woodlands, and Embassy Suites by Hilton. But beyond his industry knowledge and success, Gregg is a real people person, as you will soon discover. He is approachable, sincere, and very proactive. Q. JEFF, I KNOW THIS IS AN EXCITING TIME, WITH THE OPENING OF THE MEMBER’S LOUNGE. THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF EXCITEMENT AND ANTICIPATION. TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT IT. A. It’s been busy! And it’s also been a lot of fun. Tamarack is such an incredible place for homeowners and their families and guests.

This is truly an all-season resort so each season brings its own distinct opportunities for recreation and fun. We really want to take advantage of those seasonal outdoor activities by creating memorable experiences for our Members. At the same time, we are going to establish ongoing programming and monthly events that Members can enjoy on a consistent basis.

Q. THAT SOUNDS GREAT. CAN MEMBERS COME BY AT ANY GIVEN TIME AND RELAX WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILIES? A. Absolutely. That is one of the great things about it—the Member’s Lounge is a place to hang out and spend time. It’s roughly 3,000 square feet and offers billiards, shuffleboard, a big-screen TV, and full bar. So, in addition to our curated events and programming, Members can look at this as their home away from home.

Q. WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION? A. The Member’s Lounge is open daily, from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. So come grab coffee in the morning, watch the news, read the paper, warm up with a beer or glass of wine after a day of skiing, basically it’s whatever you want to make it. We have two fire pits outside for people to gather around and roast marshmallows and meet other Members. We’re doing Friday By The Fire nights, and Wine-Down Wednesdays, and other scheduled events for everyone to participate and enjoy.

Q. YOU MENTIONED CLASSES, WHAT SORTS OF CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS ARE OFFERED? A. Well, this is ever-evolving but things like Wine Club, Christmas Cookie Decorating, Supper Club, and also things like scheduled card games or card nights, board game sign-ups, and anything else that might be fun or that our Members request. We are very eager to get feedback from people so we can make The Member’s Lounge a cornerstone of the community.

Q. WITH THE HOLIDAYS UPON US, WHAT DO YOU GUYS HAVE ON TAP? A. We have hosted a couple events already…with more to come. For Thanksgiving, we held a Floral Centerpiece workshop to help Members to bring their Thanksgiving tables to life. We also just had a December wreath-making class. We’re going to have a Christmas Holiday Mixer for all homeowners—not just Members. That will be a lot of fun for everyone. And we are currently planning a NYE Casino Night Celebration, so stay tuned for that too.

CLUB DIRECTOR UPDATE - NEW MEMBER’S LOUNGE

The new Member’s Lounge has arrived in time for the festive holiday season, offering a number of seasonal events, social programming, and activities for Members…and that’s just the beginning. Located in The Village—across from the new Fitness Center—the Member’s Lounge will be the social hub of Tamarack. We recently sat down with Jeff Kempthorne, Director of the Tamarack Club, to get the scoop.

A ROBERT TRENT JONES II MASTERPIECE With nine holes already completed and in play, it’s not too early to designate this championship golf course one of the finest in the West. Sculpted naturally into the landscape—in a stunning meadow, lined with Ponderosa pines—Osprey Meadows is a classic “everyday” course designed for players of all skill levels. The final nine holes will be completed in 2024, along with a 19th Gambler’s Hole. Bordering a bird sanctuary, the course gives linksters panoramic views of the mountains and lake.

The Pros are at your Service The Osprey Meadows Pro Shop is located at the bottom level of The Lodge at Osprey Meadows. And while the 2023 season is coming to a close, the course will reopen in the Spring of 2024. Players will be able to book tee times by calling the Osprey Matters Pro Shop at 208-325-1458. HOMEOWNER PROFILE: JORDAN & MATT FERRIS One of the great things about Tamarack is the variety of real estate offerings and year-round amenities that potential homeowners have. Every family is unique and has plenty of options to define the living experience that will best fit their lifestyle. That’s one reason we have homeowners and Members from all over the country: Tamarack appeals to everyone in different ways. This month’s Featured Homeowner is the Ferris family from Austin, Texas. We recently sat down with Jordan and Matt to learn more about their story.

1 . H O W D I D Y O U T W O F I R S T H E A R A B O U T TA M A R A C K ?

Matt: It was about two years before we decided to move to Eagle, Idaho—where my parents live.

There was a general buzz about Tamarack from the locals…about how great the skiing was and that it was a great year-round resort for families with kids. I’m a pretty enthusiastic skier, so one day I drove up to Tamarack with my oldest son to check it out. I loved it from that moment onward…I could see the potential at Tamarack and thought now was a great opportunity to get in.

2 . W H E N D I D YO U B E C O M E H O M E OW N E R S ?

Jordan: We bought our first piece of property here in 2020, while we were still living in Texas. We eventually bought another homesite, as well, but we built a home on the first one at Whitewater Estates. We immediately started the architectural and building process, broke ground in March 2021, and moved in this past May. Matt: I will say that the whole building process was fairly smooth and easy for us. No headaches. Our builder, Soigne Homes, and The Tamarack Team was fantastic, they worked together to help oversee everything at each step of the process. That was wonderful because living in Austin, Texas, at the time, we couldn’t be up here every week. Tamarack made sure everything stayed on schedule and on budget.

3 . W H AT AT T R A C T E D Y O U A L L T O TA M A R A C K V E R S U S O T H E R C O M M U N I T I E S ?

Matt: The skiing initially, it’s incredible. But also, the fact that it is a four-season resort. We have a boat, too, and love to get out on the lake. Our kids love it here as well - we have three, a son who is 8 and twins aged 6. I just saw that this was a great family resort community with so much to offer; we could have holidays here and invite extended family. We made sure our home was large enough to accommodate friends and family.

1. Jordan: The family aspect was huge. We have family all over and this is a great destination to get everyone together. Another thing about Tamarack is that it is a great value, especially when compared to other outdoor ski communities. We felt this would be a great family investment that we could enjoy for years to come.

5 . W H AT D O Y O U L I K E B E S T A B O U T TA M A R A C K ?

Jordan: I know Matt loves the skiing…and so do I. But I really love the Trailblazers ski program for kids.

It has been a wonderful experience for our children: ages 6 to 8. It’s basically a program to teach young kids to ski or become better skiers. They get to ski every weekend most weeks during the winter with great instructors, and it’s very reasonable cost-wise. They have one- and two-day programs from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and they even get a lunch.

Matt: It really is a great program. Our kids have become proficient little skiers pretty fast—even our 6-year-old twins. But to expand on what we love about Tamarack…it’s everything. Yes, I love skiing.

But I love the lake, too, and taking the boat out. I love all the varied activities and amenities they offer all year long. I’ve never seen a community with so much stuff to do, regardless of age or interest.

6 . H O W W O U L D Y O U D E S C R I B E TA M A R A C K T O S O M E O N E E L S E , L I K E A F R I E N D O R F A M I LY M E M B E R ?

Matt: I would say it’s the ultimate family resort in this great Alpine setting, that has skiing, golf, boating, hiking, and outdoor recreation all year long. You know, I was a tournament water skier back in my younger days and this lake is great. Some of the Tamarack guys have asked if I could help set up a tournament ski course. So, this is a true community that’s always open to new things and providing more and more amenities and activities for homeowners and Members.

Jordan: I would echo all of that and add that it’s a great value and it will only get better with age. We’re even considering buying another property as an investment, to put in the rental program, and to use it for overflow when we have all of our families up here for holidays.

I love the outdoors period, but favorite past time recreational sport is snowboarding.

I learned how to ski at the Little Ski Hill as a child. I then taught myself to snowboard at Brundage. I now ride with my two daughters and husband at Tamarack and am enjoying getting to know a new and beautiful mountain.

5 . W H AT A D V I C E D O Y O U H AV E F O R A N Y O N E L O O K I N G T O S E L L OR BUY RIGHT NOW? I would recommend paying attention to interest rates as analysts predict them starting to fall and people who have been on the sidelines are now going to be jumping in.

If they have a home they have been watching and like it’s time to make a move on it.

The name of my Autobiography would be, “The Life and Times of Yessica.”

I love macaroni and cheese.

I think it’s cool that people are really identifying with their design style ie: Industrial, Farmhouse, Traditional, Modern, and Rustic. As opposed to picking a house plan and using whatever is most common.
