

With March upon us, we’re entering the enjoyable days of Spring Skiing, where the snow is softer and the post-run beverages can be enjoyed under the warming glow of the sun. We’re already three months into 2024 and the year could not be off to a more exciting start. Championship Golf - As most of you know, the first nine holes of the Signature Robert Trent Jones II Championship golf course are open and all 18 will be open for play in July 2024.

Compete for the title of Idaho State Pond Skim Champion! We’ll be having a party and getting wet. There will be prizes for three judged categories. Make sure to wear a crazy outfit and have fun with it! There will be prizes for best costume, best crash and best overall. Must be 13 to enter and compete.
Dustin’s history at Tamarack started way back in 2006. He eventually left Tamarack to start a Golf Academy in Las Vegas in 2009, came back to Tamarack briefly, and left to open another Golf Academy in Guam in 2013. Dustin eventually came back to Tamarack in September 2013 and has been with us ever since. In fact, some of you might recognize Dustin as he ran the Marina and Base Operations while waiting for the Golf Course to come back.
Today, as Director of Golf, Dustin is tasked with overseeing all golf operations and programming/events for the resort. He is also the Head Golf Pro, and a great resource for members and families, regardless of age or ability. With the Osprey Meadows Golf Course slated for it’s official grand opening this July, there is much to be excited about for Dustin and his team.
Q: SO, TELL US ABOUT THIS NEW COURSE, DUSTIN. WHAT MAKES IT SO SPECIAL?
D: First of all, it’s just a beautiful layout on a gorgeous piece of land. Robert Trent Jones II has completely overhauled his original design and has come up with a remarkable, player-friendly layout designed to appeal to all levels of golfers. The weekender will have fun and find it a challenge, and the scratch golfer will find different nuances and subtleties to the greens and fairways every round. This is a course that is meant to be played over and over.
Q: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HOLES THUS FAR? WHICH ONES STAND OUT TO YOU?
D: That’s tough, because I view the course as a whole—the way it plays and flows so naturally along the landscape. But for particular holes, the ones that are playable right now, I really like the first. It’s a short, downhill Par 5 and gives you the opportunity to make a good score. It also can cause you problems if you don’t approach it cautiously. I also really like the 18th. It’s a great finishing hole with a three-tiered green. It has strategic bunkers around the green and a stream on the right. It really sets up nicely for multiple approaches and iron play.
Q: YOU MENTIONED WATER, HOW MUCH WILL THAT COME INTO PLAY?
D: About 60-70% of the fairways and greens will have a water feature in the form of ponds, creeks, or wetlands. Some are primarily scenic, while others factor into shot-making, making them true water hazards. I think it’s a perfect balance and they will appeal to all levels of golfers. Plus, the water features just add so much to this beautiful mountain layout, both aesthetically and functionally.
Q: SO, THE GOAL IS TO HAVE THE FULL COURSE PLAYABLE BY JULY, CORRECT?
D: Yes, that is our goal, July 4th weekend. Everything seems to be on schedule. We seeded everything as of September 2023, so the grass should be growing in nicely this spring. Other than that, it just depends on the weather and finishing up the remaining holes. I think everyone is going to love it— especially based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve already received on the initial nine holes playable now.

Aimee and McKay Bodily live in Melba, Idaho, an easy commute to Tamarack. Unlike many of our residents who first discovered Tamarack for the winter skiing, the Bodilys were drawn to the area for the summer lake activities in and around McCall. Of course, it didn’t take long before they began to relish the winter skiing and snowboarding, as well. Like so many others, they realized this was the four-season resort community for them. Check out their story.
Q: SO WHAT BROUGHT YOU TAMARACK ORIGINALLY ?
AIMEE: We are in the Treasure Valley area, Melba, specifically, and we were coming up to the mountains in the summer for the lake and golf activities around McCall. We’d heard a lot about Tamarack from friends and decided to go see it—see what they offered.
MCKAY: I think we first started looking at Tamarack around 2014-2015, somewhere in there. And we ended up buying a residence at the Lodge at Osprey Meadows in 2017.
Q: WHAT DREW YOU TO THE LODGE AT OSPREY MEADOWS?
AIMEE: We loved the location within Tamarack, secluded but within an easy walk to the pool, the Village, and the Ski-in, Ski-out area. We feel like we have access to everything, each season, all year round.
MCKAY: It’s perfect for us. A lock-and-leave home that is ready when we are. Tamarack did a great job with the buying process, everyone was so helpful at every step of the way. And they have a buttoned-up property management program so it’s stress free.
Q: HOW DO THE KIDS LIKE TAMARACK?
AIMEE: Oh, they love it. They all snowboard now, and our three sons are all avid golfers. Our daughter has spent summers up here working at the lakefront, as a Liftee, and as a nanny. They love every season just like McKay and I do.
Q: WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT TAMARACK? WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?
MCKAY: It’s everything, the whole package, it’s the best value for a resort mountain community that we could find. First of all, we love the proximity to Melba, secondly, we love the year-round activities and amenities. Thirdly, we like the facilities and assets here and like how it continues to grow. Fourthly, we love this Alpine setting and the land all around us. It’s a true mountain paradise.
AIMEE: We actually own a lot here, as well, at Tappan Falls. So, we are all in you might say.
Q: WHAT ARE YOUR LONG-TERM PLANS HERE AT TAMARACK?
MCKAY: Well, after the kids are all out of the house, doing their own thing, we’d like to move up here full time. That’s kind of the distant goal. But as it is, we are trying to come up here 60 – 90 nights per year and enjoy this place as much as we can. Again, the flexibility and turn-key maintenance that Tamarack provides allows us to do that.

1. CAN YOU TELL US A HIDDEN GEM IN VALLEY COUNTY THAT ONLY LOCALS KNOW ABOUT?
The Little Ski hill just outside of town on HWY 55. With amazing afterschool ski programs coupled with the only night skiing within 100+ miles makes this little hidden gem a lot of fun.
2. IN THREE SENTENCES OR LESS TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
My wife Kaila and I have two amazing kids who grew up here in McCall. We enjoy all outdoor recreation activities all year long. I truly enjoy snowboarding, skiing, hockey, surfing, mountain biking and hiking all of the public land surrounding us the most. I grew up in Sun Valley Idaho where my family was involved in real estate, development, construction, title and escrow. I was raised in a resort community in the real estate side of life and loved every minute of it.
3. WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOUR FAVORITE VIEW POINT IN TAMARACK?
My favorite view of Tamarack has to be from the summit just as I am about to head down the mountain with Cascade Lake and the Needles Range as a backdrop.
4. DONNELLY IS KNOWN AS THE CROSSROADS TO RECREATION, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO RECREATE?
In the winter hands down skiing and snowboarding at Tamarack Resort. Great terrain park, tree riding, and smooth flowing groomers, ideal for any rider from beginner to expert. And then jumping on a snowmobile and hitting the hundreds of miles of trails with unparalleled panoramic views of the entire area.
5. IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Fly, my grandfather, father and brother all had pilots licenses and I would love to learn to fly one day.
6. WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT LIVING IN TAMARACK RESORT?
The direct access to all of the recreation that we love the most. Followed closely by the great aprés mountain food, drinks and entertainment. There is not a single day that we cannot find something fun and exciting to do.
7. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO SELL OR BUY RIGHT NOW?
My best advice (coming from someone who’s daughter moved away her senior year and son moved away his freshman year to pursue their hockey dreams) is that NOW is the time to buy to start making memories that will last lifetimes and generations. I did not expect my kids to move away so soon and thankful and glad for every memory we made in Valley County. A person can think they have “more time” however we truly never know and the memories we made with them throughout the years while they lived here stick with them the most as they are away at school. Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

“We are here for a good time, not a long time” so make the most out of every day!
