1. A Brief Background

The Project Aim to Examine The Impact of The Pandemic and How Urban Designers Might Help Cities to Reconsider Ways of Balancing The Agenda of Healthy And Resilient Cities With The Issues of density And Quality Urban Living.

• We focus on the relationship between the impacts of the epidemic on the city and urban design, both historically and currently.

• proposed new recommendations in the field of healthy urban design.

2. Project Overview • How Urban Design Achieve Healthy City in Terms of High Density of The City After Covid19 ?

Over time, epidemics have always shaped cities.

Many health issues were reflected on Architecture and Urban Planning.

• Studied the most important city strategies that have proven effective in dealing with this global epidemic to guide future research.

• taking the issues of urban intensification in our daily life and its necessity to accommodate the continuous increase in the daily population of the world.

3. Design Studies Density of cities: How can cities make themselves stronger by reconsidering the nature of density and its vital relationship to public health, wellness, and resilience?

4. Strategic Approach:

street design: A key part of the solution is street redesigning.

It aims to create healthier and more social-sustainable cities .that affect citizens’ behavior in the time of pandemics .

Strategies: • Create gradations and paving the streets and use vegetation to attract residents to walk.

• Expanding the width of the streets to create social distancing, reducing vehicle use, and stimulating walking and cycling style to achieve a healthy city.

4. Strategic Approach: Integration of health perspectives in the city regarding the pandemic .

Strategies to be followed in city planning: Density of city: Over 20 years of research shows higher urban density is related to a lower risk of chronic diseases.

A better way of protecting health would be to provide people with more space.

Strategies: • Distribution of self-sufficiency areas across cities.

• Improving quality of life, enhancing walking and cycling.

• Provide space for other uses such as parks and gardens.

gardens and green spaces COVID-19 has caused us to develop a more nuanced appreciation of open space’s social and therapeutic potential.

Strategies: • Create open spaces and green spaces to reflect the sustainability of a healthier city.

• Reducing the horizontal expansion and using the vertical expansion to take advantage of the land area to be used in the creation of sky gardens, orchards and urban farms.

• Using the roofs of the buildings to design green spaces and every residence includes open or green spaces inside or outside the house.

Building design Strategies: • Providing the three conditions of housing (solarium, lighting and ventilation) as required by: The sun: that at least one of the facades of the residential building is directed in the direction of sunrise or sunset.

Lighting: respecting height - providing a back foyer for dwellings that have one facade, and using large double-glazed windows as a means of energy and sound insulation.

Ventilation: expanding the openings of the house, and that all components of the house have these openings. That the dwelling is suitable for the longest time inside it without feeling crowded and bored, and that it is sufficient for children to practice sports, study and play ... etc.

It is characterized by the most strategic location among the neighborhoods of Khartoum. it is the closest to a number of important government facilities.

Site located in Khartoum state. it located in the east of Khartoum(burri region).

Burri is the oldest and most ancient region of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

Flat land sloping towards the Nile.

The land tends and descends towards the north and is considered the highest level of the shore in the northern part of it.

The nature of the soil is agricultural, clay (agricultural land whose purpose has been converted to residential).

There are no requirements to change the engineering land data.
