LOWER SCHOOL a place to be curious
What happens when students are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and make connections? They become confident learners who are ready for what comes next. Our students learn through conversation, hands-on experiences, and meaningful relationships with their teachers and classmates. Small classes give our students room to think deeply, solve problems, and fully engage. Learning happens everywhere. Students work at a food bank as part of a service project, explore native habitats, hike with llamas, attend a play, or cut out coupons incorporated into a math lesson. Each experience gives them another way to connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them. Lower school students discover their interests, build character, and develop the bravery to try something new. Learning starts with curiosity. They have plenty of reasons to keep asking, exploring, and discovering.

Walk into any middle school moment and our teachers are with the students: thinking through an economics problem, serving our neighbors alongside a local ministry, deciding on a tool to use in Photoshop, digging into the past at an archaeological dig, identifying flora and fauna on the campus trails, or deciding to make fudge because they can use their new knowledge to convert measurements for the ingredients. Through collaboration, experimentation, and real-world experiences, students begin to think like scientists, historians, writers, and mathematicians, mastering core skills. Our small classes give teachers and students space to discover together, take on challenges, and build trust. Teamwork, leadership, and character development are woven throughout clubs, fine arts, athletics, and daily life. Teachers empower and inspire wonder to guide their futures. Because middle school matters.

UPPER SCHOOL inspiring purpose 8
Our mission is woven into every part of the experience, from academics and athletics to fine arts, clubs, service, and social events. Students are challenged by our collegepreparatory program that encourages critical thinking, inquiry, and meaningful exploration. Through dual enrollment courses taught on campus and Advanced Placement courses, students have plenty of opportunities to stretch themselves academically while earning college credits along the way. Beyond the classroom, students become part of a thriving learning community. On any given day, they may gather for a club meeting, work with peers in a tutorial group, compete or cheer at an athletic event, perform on stage, serve their community, or connect with friends at a campus gathering. Students discover their strengths, find their purpose, and cultivate a leader’s mindset.

TFS students can get a head start on college through 22 college-level courses offered on our campus, earning credit toward both high school and college degrees. Many of our students graduate with enough college credits to begin their college experience with a sophomore standing. Students can also challenge themselves with a selection of AP courses, offered both on campus and online. Students have more flexibility and a strong foundation for their course of study.

Performances, showcases, and exhibitions give our students the chance to share their art with the community and celebrate their craft. In every classroom, stage, kitchen, or studio, songs, instruments, cupcake wars, clay, glue, paint, costumes, and stage design become a collection of students’ artistic identities while they develop a personal lifelong appreciation for the arts. FIND YOUR WORLD At TFS, learning happens everywhere. Students fish, kayak on our nearby lake, identify trees on local trails, attend a play, serve the community, or travel to places like Costa Rica or New York City. From fourth grade through graduation, students learn by doing alongside their peers and teachers. Each experience broadens their perspectives, and helps them find their place in the world. They return to their classrooms with new questions and a deeper understanding of what they have learned. Most importantly, students leave TFS prepared to boldly step into the world with purpose. They are ready for their futures in an ever-changing world. Explore, dig deeper, and discover learning beyond the classroom.

C LU B S Learning does not stop when the bell rings. Across our campus, students can explore their interests, find their people, and develop the courage to try new things. Clubs range from fly fishing, skateboarding, robotics club, Spanish club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the competitive pony program to Science Olympiad, the school newspaper, recycling, service clubs, math club, and many honor societies. With time built into the school day for club meetings, even busy students can find a place to belong. Along the way, our students build friendships and find new passions.

FIND YOUR IMPACT At TFS, service is a part of daily life. Imagine visiting residents in local nursing homes, tutoring, or leading a food drive. We love finding ways to help our community.
Students collect coats and shoes, maintain walking trails in nearby parks, create holiday cards for hospitalized children, and spend time serving our area’s veterans. School clubs, student-led initiatives, churches, and civic groups open up avenues for students to learn that service isn’t about checking a box. It is about recognizing a need, stepping in, and understanding that even small acts of kindness can make someone’s day, strengthen a community, and change lives.
