RESOLUTION NO. _18-______ A Resolution to Amend the FY 17/18 Authorization List and Operational Budget for the Police Department. WHEREAS, the City of Alexander City, Alabama, has agreed to close the City’s Jail and house inmates at the Tallapoosa County Jail (Resolution 18-48); and WHEREAS, currently there are four (4) jailer positions that can be utilized in other areas of the Police Department, WHEREAS, it is recommended to reclassify two (2) positions as Animal Control and one (1) position as an Assistant in Evidence from a paygrade of eight (8) to a paygrade of ten (10); and WHEREAS, it is recommended to reclassify the fourth unfilled position to an Administrative Assistant position with a paygrade of fourteen (14), but not fill the position until the FY 18/19 Budgets are adopted; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of Alexander City, Alabama hereby amends the FY 17/18 Authorization List by reclassifying the current four (4) jailer positions as the following: two (2) Animal Control (paygrade 10), one (1) Assistant in Evidence (paygrade 10) and one (1) Administrative Assistant (paygrade 14). FURTHER IT BE RESOLVED, the City Council of Alexander City, Alabama hereby amends the FY 17/18 Operational Budget for an additional amount of $6,441.12 to cover the costs of two (2) Animal Control and one (1) Assistant in Evidence. February 27, 2018 Reference: Correction Officer Positions As of March 1, 2018, Alexander City Police Department will close the operation of the city jail. We currently are approved for (4) four correction officer's positions. With the closure of the jail we would like to reclassify two of the correction officer's positions to animal control positions. The two reclassified positions would allow the city to have animal control coverage for more hours and more days of the week (complete coverage). Currently operating with (2) two animal control officers the Alexander City area drastically lacks full coverage and the (2} two animal control officers at times have to work overtime, weekends just to stay semi caught up. Currently the Correction Officers are at a grade 8 pay scale; the reclassification would move them to a grade 10 on the pay scale. 1. Move jailer David Mcclanahan to Animal Control 2. Move jailer Daniel Lewis to Animal Control We have an immense need to reduce and organize our evidence room and maintain it in an efficient manner. This new position would provide for the administrative assistance in accomplishing this. Nancy would move from an8 paygrade to a 10 pay grade. 1. Move the current jailer, Nancy Mcclanahan, to a reclassified position of Assistant Evidence Custodian. The fourth correction position has been vacant for a majority of 2017 - 2018; I would like to ask to keep this position and reclassify the position to that of administrative assistant. Alexander City Police Department has (5) commanders and we currently share one administrative assistant whom also has the responsibilities of our records division. With the reclassifying the vacant correction officer position to that of administrative assistant it will assist in the productivity of our command staff and lessen the burdens / responsibilities placed on our current sole administrative assistant.

RESOLUTION NO. _18-______ A Resolution to Amend the 17/18 Capital Budget for an Additional $100,000 to Complete Phase Two of the Central Blvd. Project. WHEREAS, the City of Alexander City, Alabama, has a vested interest in improving its infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the City applied for a $574,498.45 Industrial Access Grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation to improve Central Boulevard from Joseph Street to Russell Road; and WHEREAS, ALDOT awarded Project IAR-062-000-008 for the reduced amount of $491,478.26 for construction activities; and WHEREAS, the low bid for construction on this project was $597,841.93 leaving a funding shortfall of $106,363.26; and WHEREAS, certain minimal changes to construction requirements will reduce the funding shortfall; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Alexander City that the Fiscal Year 2017/2018 Capital Budget be amended in the amount of $100,000 to complete this project. WHEREAS, the following bids are results of Bid 18-08 for ACRIP Street Rehabilitation Project; and WHEREAS, all bids were opened and read aloud by the City Clerk’s office on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at City Hall, with the results as follows: Gary Ingram Grading & Paving, Inc., Dadeville, Alabama:
