Front Desk
Our Villa Management office is open seven days a week. If you have a question during our normal business hours, please call (910) 692-5884, option 2. Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm Saturday-Sunday, 9:00am-5:00pm *Subject to seasonal hours
Housekeeping
SHORT TERM STAYS – Any stay less than 14 consecutive nights includes light daily housekeeping. As part of your stay, our maid service will come in each day and change your towels out for fresh ones, make the beds, take out the trash and do a light cleaning service around the rest of the unit. LONG TERM STAYS – Any stay of 14 consecutive nights or more does not include daily housekeeping. For our lengthier stays, we do offer Mid Stay Cleans for our guests at an additional charge. Prices vary, so please contact someone in the Villa Management Office for details. If at any time, you have questions or concerns about housekeeping, please contact the Villa Office at (910) 692-5884, option 2, and someone there will be happy to help you.
Lost & Found – All lost and found items can be turned in to or located at the Villa Management
Office. If you are missing something or would like to turn something in, please visit the Villa Management office located on the back side of Building 12 in the Talamore Villa Complex.
Mail – Complimentary mailboxes are available for our month long renters. Please see the Villa Management Office to get your mailing address and corresponding mailbox.
Laundry – All of our accommodations come with a stacked washer and dryer. No laundry supplies (i.e., laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc.) are provided.
Internet Service – To access the wi-fi at the Talamore Villas, the wi-fi network name is
‘Talamore Wi-fi’ the passcode is: talamorewifi2016 To access the wi-fi at the Mid South Lodges, the wi-fi network name will be ‘Mid South Wifi’ then your Lodge number (for example: Mid South Wifi 11). The passcode for all Lodges is: talamorewifi2016.
Newspapers – Complimentary editions of our local paper, THE PILOT, are available at the Talamore Villa office. Supplies are limited and they are available on a first come first serve basis.
Protect your Valuables – Please help us protect your property. We suggest that you do not leave
any valuables such as cash, jewelry, traveler’s checks, etc., laying out in your Villa or Lodge. Talamore Golf Resort cannot assume any responsibility for any stolen articles. Safe deposit boxes are not available at this time. Security and your safety are our highest priorities. Please make sure that your outside doors are securely locked when you leave. Do not open your door to anyone, unless you know who it is. If you see any suspicious persons on either Resort Property, please contact the Villa Office immediately at 692-5884, option 2. If it is after hours, please call our onsite caretaker at (910)692-9083. If it is an absolute emergency, please call 911.

fully stocked Pro Shop offers our guests the ability to go shopping for that special gift for yourself or to take home to that someone special. From golf balls to clubs and golf shirts, Talamore’s Pro Shop has it all. We even have miniature stuffed Llamas!!!
Dollie Llama’s Bar & Grill
Need something to tide you over before enjoying dinner at one of our partner restaurants? Maybe you’re making the turn and need something quick before the back nine. Dollie Llama’s Grill is the perfect stop. Snacks, cold drinks, hot dogs and sandwiches are always available. May we suggest our “famous” Western Carolina pulled pork sandwich? It has always been a Dollie favorite.
Talamore Pool – Located just steps from your
Talamore Villa and adjacent to the Talamore Clubhouse is the Talamore Pool & Cabana. The Talamore pool is a fantastic place to relax after your round of golf. For access to the Pool, please contact the Pro Shop at 692-5884, Option 1.
Talamore Cabana/Hospitality Suite
The Cabana / Hospitality Suite is located next to the pool and offers our guests an indoor facility where you can come inside and turn on one of the three televisions to catch up on the day’s news and sporting events. For our larger groups (12-40 people), the Cabana / Hospitality Suite offers a great space to gather to enjoy a couple of beverages and discuss the day’s round of golf. The Cabana / Hospitality Suite space is complimentary to our guests staying in the Talamore Villas and is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. A fully refundable $100 deposit must be made to secure the Cabana / Hospitality Suite. If you would like to see if the Cabana / Hospitality Suite is available for your group during your current stay or the next time you come down, please call the Villa Office at 692-5884, option 2.

Mid South Pro Shop – Located in
the Mid South Clubhouse just a few steps away from the Mid South Lodges, the Pro Shop at Mid South provides its members and guests with a well-stocked golf shop offering everything from the latest and greatest must have golf equipment to the simple souvenirs to remember your visit. Please remember the professional golf staff is always ready to talk golf. If you need a swing tip or directions to the area’s best pubs our pros are there to help.
Mid South Tennis Courts
Located next to the pool complex are the Club’s tennis courts. Courts times are not reserved, and play is based on a first-come, first-play basis.
The Plantation Grill - Overlooking
the wonderful Mid South Member’s Course, The Plantation Grill offers a nice selection of light and refreshing salads and sandwiches for an enjoyable, casual lunch before heading out for a day of golf. After golf, the patio of the Plantation Grill is a perfect place for your foursome to relive the day’s golf experience while watching others try their luck on Mid South’s challenging 9th & 18th finishing holes. Open daily, sunrise to sunset.
Mid South Pool – Located just a short walk from
the Lodges, the Mid South Pool is the perfect place to relax. The complex offers a Junior Olympic-size swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and kiddie pool. Pool hours are seasonal; please check with the Clubhouse for dates and times.

Anyone still occupying a Villa after 11:00 AM on the day of departure will be billed a late check-out fee on the group leader’s credit card. A $40.00 late check-out fee applies. When checking out, please leave the keys in your Villa or put them in the mail slot in the Villa Office door. Please do not forget to leave your Villa keys as there is a $25.00 charge for lost keys. All music, stereos and other loud activities are to be ceased by 10:00PM out of respect for other tenants and guests. In case of an emergency during regular business hours, please call (910) 692-5884, Option 2 or come by the Villa Office. We do have an on-site caretaker for after business hours. The on-site caretaker can be reached at (910) 692-9083 or (910) 690-4637. Please always try (910) 692-9083 first and please do not call these numbers unless it is a true emergency. If your call is deemed not to be an emergency by Talamore Golf Resort management a $25.00 charge will be added to your credit card. Please note that itinerary questions should be asked during normal business hours.

When you check into your room: 1. Examine the layout of your Villa to determine the best ways to reach an exit. 2. Familiarize yourself with the windows of your unit to ensure you can open and close them. 3. Choose a place in your Villa to always leave your key. If there is a fire: 1. If the fire is small, you can use the fire extinguisher that is located in the kitchen, on the top of the refrigerator. 2. If the fire is uncontrollable, call 911 immediately. 3. REMAIN CALM. Panicking can cause you to not use your best judgement. 4. Leave the Villa immediately and firmly close all doors behind you. 5. If your room is smoky, crawl to the door. The air is fresher and there is more oxygen near the floor. 6. If your fire alarm sounds and the fire is not in your room, feel the door before opening it. If the door is hot, do not open it! If it is cool, open your door just enough to check the next room. Be prepared to quickly and firmly close the door if there is fire or heavy smoke on the other side of the door. Leaving your room and/or Villa: 1. Take the key with you, if possible. 2. Keep a wet cloth over your nose and mouth. 3. Close the door behind you. 4. If there is much smoke, crawl. This will help you to have fresher air. 5. Once outside your Villa, knock on other Villa doors to warn other people in the same building. If you have to remain in your Villa: 1. Wet a cloth and tie it over your nose and hold or tie it over your mouth in order to allow for easier breathing. 2. Fill the bathtub and sink with water. 3. Seal your room by wetting towels, sheets and clothes in the bathtub and placing them around cracks in the door and windows if fire is outside. 4. Turn off the air-conditioner/heat. 5. Open the windows if there is no smoke outside. Do not break the window unless necessary, as you may need to close it later. 6. Throw water onto hot surfaces (walls, doors, etc.) by using a trash can. 7. Wave a wet towel in the room to clear possible smoke. 8. Signal for help. Use the telephone (if still working), hang a bed sheet out of a window, or do whatever you can to attract attention to your location. Remember: 1. Be prepared by understanding this information. 2. Have an escape plan ready. Pre-planning always helps in a stressful situation. 3. Most importantly, DO NOT PANIC.

• “WARNING NO LIFE GUARDS” The Club’s pool facility does not have lifeguards on staff. • Membership ID cards or Talamore Resort Guest Keys are required when visiting the Talamore Pool. • The pool areas are staffed with employees for member and guests check-in purposes only. • The Club’s pool facilities are owned & operated by Mid-Tal Golf and use of the facilities are restricted to the following: • Talamore Resort Pool is open to Club Members, Member’s Accompanied Guests & Talamore Resort Guests renting a Talamore Villa or a Mid South Lodge. • Club Members visiting the pool must present a current membership photo ID card. • Junior Club Members visiting the pool facility must be over the age of 18 or accompanied by an adult. • Member’s guest visiting the pool facility must be accompanied by a club member at all times. • Members may accompany no more than 3 guests per day’ *This is limited to 3 guests per membership (not 3 guests per member). • Accompanied guests are limited to “six” pool visits per year. • Lodge & Villa Guests must be Club members or guests renting from Talamore Golf & Travel. • The Club’s Pool Facilities shall be open on the days and during the hours as established by the Club. Pool areas of the Club may also be closed for scheduled maintenance and repairs. • Group activities (cookouts, party, etc...) will be permitted only with advance approval of the Club Management. • The club does not serve food or beverages at the pool facility. • Food & beverages although allowed, are not permitted to be consumed in any manner that is prohibited by state or local law. • The Club reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove from the facility any member or guest when that member or guest appears to be intoxicated. • No glass containers of any kind are permitted in the pool area. • Dogs or other pets (with the exception of those assisting persons with disabilities) are not permitted on the Club’s Pool Facilities. • The Talamore Resort Pool facility is a SMOKE FREE area. • Use of the Talamore Resort Pool may be restricted or reserved from time to time by the Club. • All members and guests must follow the posted pool rules at all times. Violations of any of these rules or conduct in a manner prejudicial to the best interests of the Club will subject the person in violation to disciplinary action by the Club in accordance with the Club’s Rules & Regulations. • The Club’s staff will have full authority to enforce these Rules & Regulations. All infractions will be reported to the management of the Club. *The Club’s Rules & Regulations are established to protect the facilities and to promote the health, safety, welfare and enjoyment of the club members, their families and guests using these facilities. The Rules & Regulations are intended to be guidelines for the use of the Club’s Pool Facilities and are not intended to deal with all conceivable issues that may be presented for governance. The Club may amend these Rules and Regulations from time to time as it determines appropriate in its sole discretion. His legacy continues to grow with time Who will ever forget the 1999 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2; the incredible drama that played out on the 18th green, where Payne Stewart rolled in an uphill, 15-footer to hold off his playing partner, Phil Mickelson, by a single stroke? Who doesn’t remember the searing image of Stewart’s exuberant, flailing-legged fist pump that punctuated the cool mist, or the bear hug he shared with his caddie, Mike Hicks?
— Payne Stewart became a man of the people. With a pure swing, and gracious and gentlemanly yet passionately competitive conduct, Stewart stood for the common man’s golfer. His deep character and indomitable spirit tinged by his untimely death have turned Payne Stewart into an American legend.
Who can forget Stewart gently gripping Mickelson’s face in his hands, peering into his eyes, reassuring his vanquished foe with intense sincerity, “Don’t feel bad. You’re going to be a father.”
“Everybody remembers that picture of him, grabbing Phil Mickelson after he beat him on the last hole of the U.S. Open at Pinehurst in 1999,” said Steve Stricker. “Telling Phil about how great an experience he was about to have, becoming a father for the first time. The next day. Very classy.”
Given time and, of course, the circumstance of Stewart’s unimaginably tragic death just four months later — his chartered Learjet lost cabin pressure soon after departing Orlando, Fla., and flew on with all aboard deceased until running out of fuel and crashing in a South Dakota farm field — a moment captured in time has become as iconic as it was poignant. Stewart’s second national championship and third major title occurred in the final U.S. Open of the millennium. With time and circumstance, it may go down as the best.
Not surprisingly, Stricker, known for wearing his emotions on his sleeve, choked up recalling Stewart. The 45-yearold gentle Wisconsin native was accepting the 2012 Payne Stewart Award during the Tour Championship at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club. For 12 years, the annual award has been given to a player sharing Stewart’s respect for the traditions of the game, his commitment to uphold the game’s heritage of charitable support, and his professional and meticulous presentation of himself and the sport through his dress and conduct.
With time, too, has Stewart’s legacy grown. While he was still alive and thrilling golf fans around the world with perpetual vibrancy — beyond his trademark knickers and old-time, ivy tam o’ shanter cap
Since the inception of the award in 2000, the PGA Tour has bestowed it upon recipients truly worthy of an honor roll: names like Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Nick Price and Ben Crenshaw.

A two-time comeback player of the year, Stricker knows all about the ups and downs of the game. But during good times and bad, he remembered the lessons he learned about respecting the game from Payne Stewart. “I was playing terribly for a while, driving the ball all over the place,” Stricker said. “I was burning up inside. I even thought of quitting at one point. But I tried to still treat people right. I didn’t know Payne that well. I played with him a few times. And I thought about him, because he had some down periods, too. He fought his way through it while conducting himself like a professional.” In 2001, Stewart was inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame. Today, many companies are committed to preserving the Payne Stewart legacy including Pro Tour Memorabilia, Golfolio, Kids Across America, Sports Images International, Saunders Group, Branson Hills Development Company, Golfingly Yours, Sanderson Enterprises, The Golf Channel and The First Academy.
The day after that ’99 Open, Mickelson’s wife, Amy, gave birth to their first child, a daughter, Amanda, who is 13 now and has a younger sister and brother, too. And Mickelson now owns four major titles and three green jackets, but is still searching for his first national championship. Nevertheless, he will always have an important part in one of the U.S. Open’s most unforgettable moments. Mickelson said he is often asked about Stewart’s words to him on the 18th green that day. “I think about what a great heart Payne had,” Mickelson said. “It was very touching that when he just had one of his greatest triumphs in his career, he was thinking about somebody else.”
Stewart’s widow, Tracey, has never remarried, telling people, “you can’t replace a Mercedes.” Aaron Stewart was only 10 years old when his father passed away, but still carries fond memories. He attended his father’s alma mater, Southern Methodist University in Dallas and played for the SMU golf team. Daughter Chelsea, now 26, graduated from Clemson and has worked for the Tour Championship in Atlanta. Then there’s the Payne Stewart Golf Club, a tribute course in Branson, Missouri, honoring Stewart’s life and legacy. And, of course, there is Mickelson, who was still searching for his elusive first major championship when Stewart consoled him on Pinehurst’s 18th green. He is an elder statesman of the game, now, and Stewart’s words proved prophetic: For Mickelson there would indeed be bigger and better things.

Lou began his love for golf as a youth, designing a makeshift course near his family home. Lou’s first experience on a golf course came at age 17, when he and his future wife had a date to play 18 holes at Twining Valley Golf Club in Dresher, Pa. He turned professional in 1991, but had been giving golf lessons as an amateur long before entering the golf industry. Today, Lou’s extensive student base features more than 30 men and women PGA Professionals from throughout Greater Philadelphia; many of the highest-ranked junior tournament players in Pennsylvania; and many adult players who have won club championships. Lou was elected to PGA membership in 1997, produces weekly instruction tip videos, presenting them on “Save Strokes by Saturday,” for GOLF.com. He is an advisory board member and Top 50 Growth of the Game Teaching Professional of the Golf Range Association of America and the PGA Magazine Advisory Board: Instruction.

Prior to arriving at Talamore, Lou served as Flourtown Country Club head professional from 1991 to 2000, and as PGA director of instruction from 2001-06 at Experienced Golf Center in Fort Washington, Pa. He is the director of instruction for the Golf Talk Live Radio Show and Inside Golf TV Show on Comcast Sports Net. From 2009 through 2012, Lou was a member of the PGA Instruction Committee and currently is chair of the Philadelphia PGA Section Teaching Committee. Lou deserved the finest digs to match his teaching abilities and found them at Talamore in 2007. From the back of a napkin Lou and our Talamore owner developed a state of the art teaching center at Talamore. Lou himself rolled up his sleeves and spackled, pasted and painted and was the true inspiration and life for the teaching center. As our owner has said “take Lou out of the equation and we’d have nothing more than a 2,000 sq foot lifeless box on our driving range. Lou’s teaching center is all about golf and is a living breathing example of what one man can do to give back to the game which he loves so much. He wanted to teach so bad in the winter time that he put a Wood Burning Stove in the teaching building to keep it warm for our students to learn. Quite simply you would be hard pressed to find a more well-rounded and down to earth individual, golf instructor and PGA professional than Lou”. Lessons by Lou and his staff are given at the state-of-the-art Teaching Center which opens out onto the Talamore range and has special areas for video golf instruction and, based on weather, full indoor teaching capabilities. 2024 U.S. Open

With last summer’s announcement that Pinehurst Resort will host its fourth United States Open in a 25-year period in 2024, it may be a little hard to fathom that for more than 100 years, from 1895 to 1998, Pinehurst didn’t hold a single one. Although the resort served as a premiere golf destination and championship site for the first half of the 20th century, it wasn’t until 1984 when new Pinehurst owner Robert Dedman Sr. resurrected the resort from decades of dormancy and CEO Pat Corso and then Director of Golf Don Padgett sketched out a championship golf map, that bringing our country’s greatest championship to the “home of American golf ” became at all possible. But after Pinehurst proved profitable under Dedman and company, the village’s population spiked, and Donald Ross’s famed No. 2 course breezed through a handful of national tournament tests from 19891994, anticipation was brimming for the village’s first major golf event since the 1951 Ryder Cup. The 1999 U.S. Open did not disappoint, evidenced by the bronze statue of champion Payne Stewart celebrating the 15-foot putt he made on the adjacent 18th green to secure a one-shot win over Phil Mickelson.
Stewart’s dramatic victory, combined with recordsetting ticket and corporate hospitality sales, returned Pinehurst to golf prominence and just six months later the USGA announced the Open would return in 2005. The six-year span between visits was the shortest for the event in 60 years. “The 1999 U.S. Open gave Pinehurst back its rightful place in the game of golf,” Corso told The Pilot of Moore County, N.C. A much-less heralded champion was crowned the second time around in New Zealand’s Michael Campbell, who earned a spot in the 2005 field through sectional qualifying, then leapfrogged third-rounder leader and two-time winner Retief Goosen, and finally fended off Tiger Woods for a two-shot win. Attendance records were broken once again and profits for both the area and the USGA were high, supplanting Pinehurst as a fixture in the unofficial Open rotation. Pinehurst welcomed the spotlight once again in 2014 when the USGA staged an unprecedented spectacle in the Carolina sandhills, the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open in consecutive weeks, on the same golf course.

Welcome Germany’s Martin Kaymer grabbed all of the headlines at the start of the show by opening the men’s Open with back-to-back 65s to set a 36-hole scoring record at 10 under par. Kaymer wrapped up his wire-to-wire win with a final-round 69 for a four-day total of 271, the second-lowest in Open history. A mere four days later, Stacy Lewis opened the U.S. Women’s Open with a 3-under-par 67 to take a oneshot lead over Michelle Wie, who posted another 68 in round two to enter the weekend all alone at the top. Wie wavered a bit in round three with a twoover 72 and then nearly washed away all hopes of winning her first major by making a double-bogey on the 16th hole on Sunday only to rebound with a miraculous 25-foot birdie putt on the penultimate hole to give one of the game’s most mesmerizing figures a long-overdue major championship.
“I think we’ll look back on the 114th U.S. Open and the 69th Women’s Open and say that in a lot of ways, it was a seminal moment in the game of golf and championship golf and sustainability of the game,” USGA Executive Director Mike Davis told writer Lee Pace. These two weeks will rank right up there with the best ever.” The back-to-back Opens made Pinehurst No. 2 the only course to host all five USGA majors and the Ryder Cup. “There’s nobody else in the world that can lay claim to that collection of championships,” Padgett told The Pilot. “I don’t think anyone is ever going to come close to matching that.” The village of Pinehurst and the surrounding area reaped rewards as well as the dual Opens generated a $238 million impact locally according to a 2015 Forbes article. That number is bound to balloon in 2024. Pinehurst’s unparalleled tournament resumé will expand in the years leading up to 2024 when it hosts the 2017 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and the 2019 U.S. Amateur.
While Kaymer and Wie hoisted U.S. Open hardware for the first time in 2014, another champion defended its title. Pinehurst No. 2 and its freshly unveiled Coore & Crenshaw restoration back to its Donald Ross roots, without a single blade of rough, came out of the consecutive Opens able to stand as tall any among the world’s greatest championship venues.
While those amateur events will feature fields of lesser knowns, it’s a safe bet that eight years from now Spieth, McIlroy, Fowler, Day and the stars of today will still be on top of the Tour and teeing up at Pinehurst. Perhaps one of them will join Stewart, Campbell, Kaymer, Wie, as well as Hagen, Nelson, Snead, Hogan, Nicklaus, Miller, and Watson among the decorated list of past champions at Pinehurst. “Pinehurst has elevated itself to one of the great and historic places in golf in this country,” said USGA President Thomas J. O’Toole Jr. “Some say it’s our St. Andrews – it’s certainly something special, and that’s why we’re going back there for the 2024 U.S. Open.”

Former U.S. Open Champs provide Sandhills area some of their finest design efforts. Anyone for whom golf runs through the soul must make a pilgrimage to the Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen area in the famed Sandhills of North Carolina. Among other things, the area provides residents and visitors the artistic design genius of history’s most renowned golf course architects, a pantheon of names that starts and finishes with Donald Ross, naturally, but which reads like a virtual Who’s Who.
During a recent appearance at Sandhills Community College, Nicklaus thrilled a packed Owens Auditorium on campus discussing numerous topics including golf in and around Pinehurst — and, of course, Arnold Palmer. Earlier, Nicklaus had been in Washington as Palmer was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor awarded a citizen by Congress.
Also represented with works of art in the region are renowned, modern-day architects like Tom Fazio, the late Mike Strantz and “The U.S. Open Doctor,” Rees Jones, and even a few golf course designers who chose to call the Sandhills area home, including Ellis Maples and his son, Dan Maples.
The two old rivals still remain close friends. Nicklaus said he and wife, Barbara, engaged in numerous bridge matches while taking jet trips through the years with Palmer and his late wife, Winnie. “But when we played on the golf Jack Nicklaus course, [Palmer] wanted to kill me and I wanted to kill him,” Nicklaus said.
Of course, there is also a trio of renowned former U.S. Open champions who have all done some of their best golf course design work in and around Pinehurst: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player, three legends who not only chalked up quite a few Masters tournament victories between them, but also possess plenty of groundbreaking ideas about golf courses. Their design creativity is on full display around the Sandhills. If you want to get in the heads of these legends when you come through the Sandhills, The Carolina, Legacy Golf Links, Mid South Club, National Golf Club, Pinewild Country Club and Woodlake Resort & Country Club are all strong representative works. While a green jacket may not be waiting for you at the clubhouse, knowing you’ve seen golf through the vision of some of the masters will add to your own history of the game.
Nicklaus came to the Pinehurst area as part of the Pauley Lecture Series at the request of Dr. William E. Smith, who had once been pastor at Nicklaus’ church in Columbus, Ohio, and fielded questions from local resident Jaime Diaz, senior writer for Golf Digest and Golf World. Nicklaus, who designed National Golf Club in 1989, also mentioned he may soon be involved in another Pinehurst project.

As for that other former U.S. Open champion, the great South African, Gary Player? Well, Player’s name in Pinehurst is attached to Pinewild Country Club, which he helped open in 1996. One Player design, The Magnolia, has undergone a comprehensive renovation and is a more “traditional masterpiece” meandering through the longleaf pines. Player also designed Holly, which is a more of a classic, “risk-reward” layout. Both are complimented by beautifully wooded terrain, rolling hills, ponds and streams. Pinewild has hosted the PGA’s Tour School Qualifying, the LPGA’s Pinewild Championship, and continues to play host to various USGA Qualifying Events.
As for the Golden Bear’s favorite rival, that fella they call The King? Palmer and his renowned golf architecture associate, the late Ed Seay, designed the popular Mid South Club & Lodge (formerly known as Pinehurst Plantation), which opened in 1993 and features 6,577 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72.
