Taiga’s true passion lies not only in fabrics and garments, but also in the people who wear them. Since the company was founded by Swedish textile entrepreneur and innovator Paul Rydholm Taiga has been carried into its third generation. We remain as committed as he was to understanding the realities faced by professionals working in the world’s most demanding conditions and climates.

At our head office in Varberg, Sweden, we employ a close-knit team of experts specialising in product development, pattern design, and material selection. 1982 – Taiga was founded by the Swedish textile entrepreneur and innovator Paul Rydholm, after a trip to the Alaskan wilderness.

1983 – Taiga become one of Scandinavia’s first manufacturers to be a licensed supplier of workwear made with Gore-Tex.

1996 – Taiga presents the innovative concept of garment systems. Designed to function together across a variety of situations and climates, and developed for performance with unmatched durability.

2002 – The Taiga CPA System sets a new standard for tactical military uniforms, with a proprietary hidden IR-camouflage and a durable three-layer Gore-Tex composition.

2016 – Taiga launches on the North American market under the Torraka brand.

OUR CUSTOM CLIENT SOLUTIONS

We offer a comprehensive, well-developed collection ranging from undergarments to outer shells. In addition, we frequently create customized solutions for users with specific needs.

When a client approaches us, we start by listening. Their input and ideas are translated into a rough sketch, which then is realized as a physical prototype. After incorporating more feedback, we produce a master sample for field

testing, ensuring our ideas work as intended. This process is then repeated until we find the right solution for the client.

In most cases, a change in fabric or a slight adjustment to a pocket angle or hood does the trick. But sometimes, this process leads to entirely new innovations, such as the CPA System – a client request that resulted in a revolutionary uniform system (read more on page 20 and 32).

Garment systems designed to fit the future

Our sustainability efforts are focused on minimising our environmental footprint. The most sustainable jacket is the one that never needs to be produced. This principle informs our thinking from the very first sketch through to the full lifespan of our garments. The longer our products last and perform, the fewer we need to produce. That is why our commitment to reducing environmental impact begins not with production, but with our philosophy of future-adaptive design — an approach centred on creating exceptionally durable garments that can evolve and adapt over time to shifting environments, user needs, and technological advancements.

At Taiga, we take action against global climate change. As part of the textile industry, we recognize the significant role we play in contributing to global emissions. We work with great transparency, making it easier to consistently choose more sustainable materials and components when designing our products. We carefully monitor and evaluate our logistics network and focus on delivering sustainable and cost-effective solutions to reduce our carbon footprint. By keeping our development in-house and working with local suppliers in Europe, we significantly minimize travel and transport distances.

As a natural extension of our sustainability and environmental efforts, we are certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. We are continuously expanding our sustainability commitments to reduce the environmental impact of our operations, in close collaboration with both our suppliers and end users.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

We reduce our environmental impact by creating products with future-adaptive design. Garments with timeless design and high durability in the most sustainable materials, ensuring they last over time. They should be easy to repair, and worn-out details should be replaceable.

RESTRICTING CHEMICAL USE

All our suppliers must sign and ensure compliance with EU regulations on chemical levels in our materials. In collaboration with our suppliers, we are actively working to phase out PFAS from our production by testing and evaluating alternative treatments for our materials.

3 SUPPLY CHAIN TRANSPARENCY

Taiga works with independent textile producers in Europe and prioritize long-term relationships. We require our partners to have sustainability programs that address both social and environmental issues and ensure full transparency regarding production processes and certifications.

Camouflage and signature management

The growing sophistication of sensors heightens the necessity for advanced signature management in field uniforms. In collaboration with our suppliers, we have developed unique and patented technologies providing industryleading visual and concealed camouflage. Our materials and fabrics effectively reduces signatures across the UV, VIS, IR, and TIR spectra. We offer a variety of camouflage options, along with the capability to print custom or national camouflage designs on demand.

IR TMTP® camouflage uses a technology to control the IRR curve within the NIR SWIR wavelength, approximately 0,75–20 µm. The print has five different large surfaces (corresponding to the visible camouflage), with five different levels of IRR reflection to reduce the reflection from image intensifiers or thermal sensors.

TSUP ®

Taiga Snow UV Pattern

UV Ultraviolet light has shorter wavelengths than visible light and cannot be seen by the human eye. TSUP® camouflage features a high UV reflectance, enabling them to better blend into arctic environments and seen through optics with UV filters.

VIS The visual print is carefully selected to be less visible in arctic environment.

IR TSUP® camouflage uses a technology to control the IRR curve within the NIR wavelength, approximately 0,75–1,2 µm. In the frozen arctic environment, large spots with high and low IRR contrast are essential.

TMTP

Taiga Multi Terrain Pattern

VIS TMTP® is a multi terrain camouflage where pattern and color are carefully designed to be less visible in different types of surroundings.

IR TMTP® camouflage uses a technology to control the IRR curve within the NIR wavelength, approximately 0,75–1,2 µm. The print has five different large surfaces (corresponding to the visible camouflage), with five different levels of IRR reflection, offering a better protection against being seen through an image intensifier.

TCIP™

Taiga Concealed IR Printing

VIS TCIP™ technology is developed for operations requiring less obvious military appearance. The visible color is perceived by the eye as a solid color fabric. Color can either be chosen to be less visible or as the occupational group’s identity color.

IR TCIP™ camouflage uses a technology to control the IRR curve within the NIR wavelength, approximately 0,75–1,2 µm. The print has four different large surfaces with four different levels of IRR reflection, offering a better protection against being seen through an image intensifier.

Uniforms for demanding missions and extended military operations

LIGHTWEIGHT AND DURABLE

For optimal performance, it is essential to have a uniform system that is compatible with other equipment and reduces volume and weight in demanding field conditions. Our purpose-built uniform systems have been developed in close collaboration with operators to cover a wide range of applications across various climates. We minimise the number of garments in each system and keep their weight as low as possible, while maintaining the highest standards of durability, safety, and performance.

OUR UNIFORM CONCEPT

Understanding how the human body functions in different temperatures and working conditions is critical for ensuring safety and performance. To help you stay focused, our uniform systems are designed to allow you to control body temperature and moisture in response to activity level and weather conditions.

Our garment systems are based on three functional layers, all contributing to keeping you dry, warm, and protected during both long operations and short missions.

MOISTURE WICKING LAYER

The layer closest to the body primarily wicks moisture away from the skin to keep you dry. It also provides some degree of insulation.

INSULATING LAYER

The second and potentially third layer are designed to provide sufficient insulation for the prevailing conditions. In addition to insulating, these mid-layers also help transport moisture away from the body and the inner layer.

PROTECTIVE LAYER

The outer layer protects against wind, water, and other risk factors. Special fabrics, along with visual and IR camouflage, enhance protection and contribute to increased safety during operations and missions in lowlight conditions.

Developed to withstand extreme cold and arctic conditions

The weather in an Arctic or Subarctic environment can change rapidly between extremes – from damp fog to extreme cold in a matter of hours. The unreliable conditions, long distances and compact darkness place especially high demands on operators and their equipment.

Our Arctic Cold Weather Systems have been developed in collaboration with special forces operating above 66 degrees latitude – where the Arctic Region begins, to truly understand the requirements.

Each system is carefully combined to minimize the number of garments, saving volume and weight in the operator’s personal equipment. The key to a flexible system is the ability to easily adapt clothing to the activity and weather. For optimal comfort and to endure longer missions.

A flexible and durable field uniform

A In close collaboration with experienced operators, we have developed the Field Uniform for extended operations in varying terrain, climates, and weather conditions. Our highly regarded three-season system is ideal for operations in spring, summer, and autumn.

The uniform is made from a lightweight, durable, and quick-drying material in Taiga’s proprietary multi-terrain camouflage TMTP and other color variations with concealed IR protection. It is also possible to have the garments in custom/national camouflage patterns.

The Field Jacket and Trousers feature several of Taiga’s unique design solutions, such as functional pockets, detachable braces, and, not least, ventilation. They can also be complemented with various types of reinforcement or insulation garments for optimal comfort.

Combat uniform with focus on comfort

We offer uniform concepts for military operations and police interventions in various materials, camouflage patterns, and color variations, with the ambition that you will always be able to find the right solution for your organisation's specific needs.

Here, we present products with our functional standard designs, but we also have the capability to add requested features or create special custom designs through our in-house product development.

The Combat SF uniform is developed with a unique stretch quality that offers impressive comfort and No-melt, No-drip properties. The basic uniform in this example includes combat trousers and a UAC shirt (Under Armour Combat Shirt). In addition, we recommend flameretardant underwear, reinforcement garments, and a shell jacket and trousers for rain and wind protection.

Taiga’s military collection is specially designed for challenging missions, with size measurements tailored for trained, high-performing users. The fit needs to be nearly perfect for the operator’s comfort and to handle demanding tasks.

Taiga offers a wide range of standard sizes in both women’s and men’s models. For several products, we can provide styles with longer legs and sleeves, and upon request, shorter than standard. We can also produce custom sizes as we have specialized pattern designers in-house.

Our collection features innovative designs and precise cuts to ensure optimal performance and comfort. Many of our garments are available in both women's and men's models, and in this catalog, you will find the standard sizes for each product. If a product has two article numbers, it is also available in women's models/sizes – marked with a 'W'.

CPA ARCTIC JACKET

The CPA Arctic uniform is the result of over 10 years of development work in collaboration with end users. These products are durable and flexible, with unique features and IR camouflage. The CPA Arctic Jacket is windproof and waterproof with taped seams and high breathability. The outer material is a lightweight and durable Cordura® polyamide, and inside hangs a loose Gore-Tex liner, that provides better insulation. The air gap between the liner and the outer fabric facilitates vapor transport, even in extreme cold down to -50 °C, keeping the user dry during operations involving varying levels of activity, temperature, and climate. The jacket features a spacious hood, ventilation openings, reinforced elbows, and several functional pockets for equipment.

WINTER Reinforcement – Insulation

RF 250 REV JACKET

The RF 250 Rev Jacket is suitable for lower temperatures and less active situations and can be worn over another jacket. It has 250 grams of padding that creates an insulating air layer, keeping you warm without adding weight. The material has good moisturewicking properties and dries very quickly. The jacket is reversible and features two colours to adapt to different environments. UV/VIS/IR protection.

RF 150 REV TROUSERS

The RF 150 Rev Trousers have been developed to complement our product line with careful consideration of weight and volume. They feature 150 grams of padding, ideal for use in lower temperatures and winter environments. The trousers can also be used as insulation within a sleeping system when paired with the matching jacket. A key strength of these trousers is their minimal moisture absorption, resulting in an exceptionally fast drying time. The elastic waistband can be opened on both sides, just like the full-length side zippers, facilitating ventilation, quick dressing with shoes on, and access to the trousers worn underneath. We strive to always chose multifunctional materials, capable of performing across a wide range of conditions examples can be weather protection, No-Melt, No-Drip or flame protection. Currently, Taiga holds several protected patterns and registered trademarks related to textile and material innovation. All materials and components in our garments are OEKO-TEX certified.

TWP

A comfortable wind- and waterproof material that combines with unique construction solutions and taped seams. It offers high comfort, long durability, excellent breathability, and weather protection.

TP-122

An extremely dense poplin made of 66% polyester, 32% cotton, and 2% elastane. The two-ply yarn construction and dense weave create a very durable fabric with high wind resistance, water-repellent properties, and fast drying. Stretch properties for increased comfort.

CORDURA® POLYAMIDE & COTTON

This fabric is excellent for tactical clothing and consists of an evenly distributed mix of Cordura® Polyamide and cotton. It combines the positive properties of the materials, such as durability and abrasion resistance from polyamide, and comfort and thermal protection from cotton. The fabric is not flame-resistant, but burns more slowly and chars instead of melting and dripping compared to similar uniform options.

TMB BLOCK

A developed function in the system for protective clothing against fluid-borne contamination, as well as splashes from chlorine, battery acid, gasoline, firefighting foam, and hydraulic oil. The standard is based on ISO 16604, which we have further developed and incorporated into EN ISO 20471. The garments are windproof, waterproof, and breathable.

GORE-TEX® MATERIALS

Gore-Tex is a waterproof, windproof, and breathable membrane used in clothing to protect against harsh weather and to keep you dry and comfortable. Taiga uses a range of different-purpose Gore-Tex materials within Gore’s Professional Products Division portfolio. All Gore-Tex garments are rigorously tested to ensure they withstand extreme weather conditions.

2-LAYER GORE-TEX® – The Gore-Tex membrane is laminated against the outer fabric, while a separate lining on the inside provides extra comfort. Windproof, waterproof and breathable.

3-LAYER GORE-TEX® – The Gore-Tex membrane is laminated between outer fabric and lining. The garments are perceived as thin and flexible, and at the same time durable. Windproof, waterproof and breathable.

GORE-TEX® MICRO GRID LINER – A lightweight Gore-Tex membrane is used as a lining inside a loose outer fabric, which protects against punctures from sharp objects. Windproof, waterproof and breathable.

GORE WINDSTOPPER® – Completely windproof with maximum breathability. Windstopper® keeps you warm and comfortable, with maximum mobility.

GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® – A windproof and waterproof laminate that provides resistance to virus penetration from contaminated blood and bodily fluids. It also protects against splashes of common chemicals in traffic accidents, such as battery acid, caustic soda, and diesel, with no penetration. Gore-Tex Crosstech® is one of the fabrics used in TMBBlock for Taiga garments in ambulance services.

GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® PYRAD® STRETCH – This unique stretch material is developed for rescue operations requiring multi-protection. The comfortable material has antistatic properties and high visibility. It provides protection against: heat and flame, contaminated blood and bodily fluids, as well as chemicals. Windproof, waterproof and breathable.

OTHER MATERIALS

Wool

A versatile and sustainable natural material that regulates body temperature in both cold and heat and can effectively wick away body moisture. Wool is naturally antibacterial, flame retardant, and self-cleaning, which means it only needs to be aired to stay fresh.

Polyester

A common material for functional garments due to it’s durability, moisture-wicking properties, and extremely fast drying time. It is also lightweight and resistant to shape and color changes, with high protection against chemicals.

Polyamide

An excellent material for functional garments with high demands on flexibility and durability. It’s lightweight relative to its high wear resistance and therefore often used as outer shells, for example, in jackets.

Insulation padding

The material is made of hollow polyester fibres that create an insulating layer of air within the garment, keeping you warm without weighing you down. It has good moisture-wicking ability and is quick-drying.

Tencel™ Lyocell

A comfortable and durable material that is naturally antibacterial and has excellent properties for absorbing and wicking moisture. It’s wear-resistant, wrinkle-resistant, and colorfast, and it’s also environmentally friendly because it is made from wood pulp in a closed-loop process where 99% of the chemicals can be recycled. The production requires 95% less water compared to cotton, and the fibers are 100% biodegradable.

Cordura® Polyamide

Cordura® is a brand of extra durable and abrasion-resistant polyamide that is suitable for reinforcements in areas subjected to heavy wear, such as elbows and knees. The fabric is four times stronger than regular polyamide and is resistant to both physical and chemical impacts.

Polartec® Thermal Pro High Loft™

A material with exceptional insulating ability in relation to its light weight. Comfortable, fast-drying and with excellent moisture-wicking ability.

CERTIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS

ENV 342 protective clothing – Ensembles and garments that protect against cold. Ensembles for temperatures below -5°C. This standard guarantees that the clothing ensembles' characteristics regarding insulation, air permeability/windproofness, and vapour permeability/breathability have been tested. The tests for ENV 342 measure the ensembles' insulation capacity with a minimum CLO value of 1.7. The certification is valid for clothing ensembles marked on the certified garment label.

EN 343 protective clothing – Foul weather protection. The standard involves testing the waterproofness, windproofness, and vapour permeability of fabric and seams, both before and after washing. The standard is graded into four classes for waterproofness and vapour permeability, with Class Four indicating the best values.

EN ISO 20471 – High visibility clothing. This international standard specifies requirements for high-visibility clothing designed to make the wearer visible in all light conditions. The standard considers surfaces made of fluorescent and reflective materials, and regulates the design and placement of these materials. Fluorescent materials improve visibility in daylight and twilight, while reflective materials increase visibility in the dark by reflecting light from sources such as vehicle headlights.

EN 1149 protective clothing – Electrostatic properties. Protective clothing that prevents electrostatic charge. Suitable for work in explosive environments. The garments’ characteristics are permanent, regardless of the number of washes. Antistatic footwear is required for maximum protection.

EN ISO 14116: Protection Against Flames. This standard protects the user from brief contact with small flames, where there is no significant heat risk. It includes testing according to EN ISO 15025 Limited Flame Spread, with requirements met according to index 1–3, where 3 provides the highest protection.

EN ISO 11612:2015 Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame. The standard specifies requirements and test methods for protection against heat and flame in various uses. It does not apply to welding, smoke diving, or similar activities, as specific standards cover these situations. The standard addresses various types of heat exposure, including radiant, convective, contact heat, and molten metal splash. It also includes specific design and performance requirements to ensure that clothing provides adequate protection under these conditions.

EN ISO 15025: Limited Flame Spread. A flame is applied to the surface of the fabric for 10 seconds with the following results: No flame should reach the top or sides of the test specimen. Afterflame time after ignition should be less than two seconds. No melting or dripping from the material. Hole formation less than 5 mm.

No-Melt, No-Drip protection. Materials with No-Melt, No-Drip protection neither melt nor drip when ignited but instead char. This reduces the risk of severe burns, as molten material can stick to the skin and continue to burn. These materials are good alternatives when full protection against heat and flame is not needed. There is no specific standard for No-Melt, No-Drip. Taiga has chosen to test according to EN ISO 15025: Limited Flame Spread with the sole requirement that the material does not melt or drip when ignited. Note: The material is therefore not classified as flame-resistant according to the standard, but it meets the requirement for No-Melt, No-Drip.
