Mänttä Art Festival is the largest summer exhibition of contemporary art in Finland and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The festival changes curators every year, and the new curator always brings a fresh perspective to the exhibition. The curators for 2023 are visual artists Minna Suoniemi and Petri AlaMaunus. They have invited 36 artists/artist groups to contribute to the festival.

The exhibitions include traditional painting and video art, ceramics and installations. In addition to the Pekilo Exhibition Centre, located in the industrial milieu of the centre of Mänttä, works will be on display on Taavetinsaari Island in Joenniemi and around the town. The XTRA programme and traditional curatorial tours invite you to participate and meet artists.

The Art Festival will be open every day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets EUR 16, discount ticket EUR 12, children under 16 years EUR 0.

MÄNTÄN ÄÄRELLÄ – A CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION IN HOMES FOR SALE

Art education then and now Mänttä Secondary School (Koskela Secondary School) and upper secondary school pupils’ visual art works from the archives of teacher Reetta Mustajoki (formerly Kuusela) and modern works. Wed–Sun 17 June–16 July from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission.

Workshops on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Opening on Friday, 16 June at 5 p.m.

Unique Boutiques of Myllyranta

This summer, Ronny Gilan’s new oil painting exhibition ‘METAMORFOOSI - taviksesta hirviöksi’ (METAMORPHOSIS – from normal into a monster) is featured downstairs at the mill. More than 100 paintings.

A new exhibition concept where a contemporary art exhibition is curated for residential properties for sale. The concept connects the art scene, its audience and the local housing market. Multiple locations – the sites can be found at www.mantanaarella.fi
