Best, SUMMER, EVER!

RECREATION FEE

The perfect way to spend a hot summer day in the Sierra is to get outside. For some, this may mean a relaxing afternoon at the pool; for others it may involve a little more activity. Either way we’ve got you covered. Our aquatics programs offer lessons and fun in the pools, or head to the Beach Club Marina to take sailing or windsurfing lessons out on Donner Lake. Rent (or bring your own) paddle boards to explore the shoreline. If you’d rather stay on shore, check out the 60-plus miles of trails by bike, horse, or on foot. Get swinging on the golf course or the tennis courts, and afterward, cool down outside with a cold frosty one on the deck at The Lodge Restaurant and Pub, on the patio at Alder Creek Café, or overlooking picturesque Bennett Flat at Pizza on the Hill. Whatever your choice of recreation, get out there and enjoy your Tahoe Donner summer!

Upon payment of the annual recreation fee, a member and any other eligible members associated with that membership are granted access to the Beach Club Marina, Northwoods Pool, Trout Creek Recreation Center, Tennis Center (and Snowplay Area during the winter season) without having to pay the daily entrance fee. The 2017 – 2018 recreation fee is $270 and is valid from May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018. The recreation fee can be purchased at the Member Services office at Northwoods Clubhouse or at the front desk of Trout Creek Recreation Center.

We will also talk about trail etiquette and safety while out riding the trails. Bring plenty of water, food (snack and lunch) and sunscreen. Bike rentals are available. BIKES Our bike fleet is stocked with a variety of Giant brand bikes from road bikes, comfort bikes and hard tails to the latest full-suspension mountain bikes. We have a full array of options for families, including bikes for kids, trail-a-bikes and trailers for little ones. We sell and replace more than a third of our fleet each season, and this season’s new bikes are highlighted by more than 25 brand new Giant mountain bikes. Due to popular demand, we carry several women’s bikes including the Giant Lust full-suspension mountain bike and the Giant Tempt front-suspension mountain bike. In addition to the always popular Giant Trance and Stance lines of men’s full-suspension mountain bikes, we also have a few other front suspension models this season, such as the Giant Talon, Revel, and ATX models. We also carry fat bikes from Surly and Framed. These bikes do great on sand or snow, and are also a lot of fun just to ride the trails. If you are thinking about buying a new bike, you can try out the latest models on an actual ride and not just in a parking lot. We can then order you a brand new bike and generally, we’ll have it ready for you in just a few days. All of our bike sales come with free 30-day and one year tune-ups. Our experienced bike mechanics are also happy to help get your own personal bike tuned up and ready for your next ride.

2017 CLINIC SCHEDULE

All of our golf professionals here at Tahoe Donner Golf Course believe that teaching must be personalized. Each golfer has his or her own goals, abilities, limitations, personality, and current concept of how to make a golf stroke. The art of teaching the game of golf is in the ability to connect with a player of any level by interpreting and communicating valid concepts in a way that is interesting, easy to understand, and achievable. We have a great team of golf professionals — we are here to help! Clinics are approximately one hour and run from June 5 through September 4. All clinics are $20 per student. Watch your weekly emails or check our website for updates or any changes. Please check in with the pro shop prior to the clinic.

TWO PREMIUM COURTS AT TD

TUESDAYS, 9 A.M.: MEN’S DAY

It’s not a new sport, but it’s a new sensation sweeping the nation. Pickleball, a cross between badminton, tennis and table tennis, is winning over the hearts of many athletes and we offer it right here at the Tahoe Donner Tennis Center. Unlike tennis, pickleball is played on a smaller court, extending 44 feet long by 20 feet wide, which is about one-fourth the size of a tennis court. Because of this shorter distance, it requires less mobility, giving people of all ages and abilities more opportunities to maintain a rally and react to opponent advances. But it’s quite possibly the social element that is most enjoyable. Please check the calendar of events or with the pro shop for play dates, lessons, clinics and other pickleball activities this summer.

SUMMER TRAIL SYSTEM Explore, Refresh and get Inspired The Tahoe Donner summer multi-use trail system is an expansive 60-mile system comprised of single-track and multi-use fire roads which take you through high alpine meadows and aspen groves and over craggy ridge tops affording breathtaking vistas of Castle Peak, Donner Lake and the Sierra Crest ridgeline. Whether you are an experienced equestrian, a new mountain biker or an avid trail runner, the Tahoe Donner summer trail system has a piece of trail just for you. Join us this summer to explore your backyard, refresh in the serenity of the mountains and get inspiration from the beautiful surroundings of Tahoe Donner. Contact us at 530-582-9672 or email us with any questions at trails@tahoedonner.com.

TRAIL ETIQUETTE AND SAFETY Hiking, biking or horseback riding on Tahoe Donner’s trails is a wonderful way to enjoy the great outdoors. With the increasing popularity of these outdoor activities, the number of encounters with other trail enthusiasts is also increasing, so we all need to do our best to be respectful, patient and courteous to others. We can all have a safer and more enjoyable outdoor experience by following the guidelines below.

ADVICE FOR ALL TRAIL USERS RESPECT: It's a simple concept: if you offer respect, you are more likely to receive it. We’re all out there to have a good time. Friendly respect will diminish negative encounters on the trail for all users. COMMUNICATION: Let folks know you’re there — before you’re there. Do your best to let your fellow trail users know you’re coming. A friendly greeting is a good method. YIELD APPROPRIATELY: Anticipate other trail users as you ride around corners. Bicyclists should yield to hikers and equestrians. Step downhill and off trail to let them pass. Bicyclists traveling downhill should yield to ones headed uphill. In general, strive to make each pass a safe and courteous one.

36 36

TRAIL ETIQUETTE BE INFORMED: It’s YOUR responsibility to be in the know. Questions about where to ride, trail conditions, outdoor ethics and association regulations are important to know before you head out on the trails. If you have further questions, please contact the trails manager at 530-582-9672 or trails@tahoedonner.com. You may also contact Member Services at 530-587-9400 or info@tahoedonner.com.

PICK UP AFTER YOUR PET: Dog waste along our trails is not only unsightly but can also hurt water quality and spread disease. Please grab a few of the dog litter bags found at most Tahoe Donner trailheads before hitting the trails, and please dispose of used litter bags in trailhead garbage containers. Per association rules, dogs need to be on a leash when on Tahoe Donner trails and at Tahoe Donner amenities.

DON’T PLAY IN THE MUD: When trails are muddy or otherwise saturated with water, please refrain from using them until they have had a chance to dry out. This will allow the trail tread to remain narrow and stable and will also reduce erosion.

GIVE WILDLIFE A BREAK: When encountering the abundance of wildlife throughout Tahoe Donner, please give them plenty of room. Control pets; do not allow dogs to chase or otherwise harass wildlife.

DO NOT CUT SWITCHBACKS OR TAKE SHORTCUTS: Enjoy where our trails take you; you won’t be disappointed. Cutting switchbacks and creating shortcuts damages plants and disturbs soil, and contributes to erosion.

PRIVATE AMENITY | Summer Fun Guide 2017 || tahoedonner.com

RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBORS: Please respect your neighbors by staying on Tahoe Donner property. Please do not wander onto or through your neighbors’ property to access trails.

HELP PROTECT OUR TRAILS AND OPEN SPACES ADVICE FOR HIKERS AND BIKERS When hikers or mountain bikers encounter horses on the trail, they should step off the trail on the downhill side, and talk to the rider and the animal (this lets the horse know you are a person). Keep talking in a calm voice as the animal passes. If you approach a horse from behind it’s critical that you announce yourself loudly but calmly so you do not scare the animal. Let the rider know you’d like to pass at the next safe location. Do NOT ride up quickly on stock. It’s dangerous for you and the rider.

ADVICE FOR HORSE RIDERS Though most hikers and bikers will yield the right of way to horses, remember that some folks do not have experience with stock and may not react as expected. These encounters are great opportunities to inform and educate other users with a friendly approach. As a horse rider, you have a responsibility to manage your animal on the trail; it is not advised to bring horses unaccustomed to hightraffic or multi-use trails until they are more familiar with them. Also, remember to keep an eye out for other users in front of you, behind you and joining you at trail junctions.

EXPLORING EUER VALLEY Tahoe Donner Association is now one of the primary owners of Euer Valley after acquiring 482 acres there in 2012. There are several private properties which border Tahoe Donner; the Euer family’s land is actually surrounded by Tahoe Donner. We ask that you please respect our neighbors by staying on Tahoe Donner property. Please observe the following guidelines while in Euer Valley: • Motorized access to Euer Valley and all Tahoe Donner open space is prohibited, except for Tahoe Donner staff.

• The Euer family still owns 40 acres in the middle of the valley. Please avoid hiking near the homestead and its nearby buildings. • The valley is a “pack in/pack out” destination. Please do your part to keep this a litter-free landscape. • Respect the privacy of those who live adjacent to Euer Valley, including at the end of Alder Creek Road. Sound levels should be kept low and vehicles should be parked at Alder Creek Adventure Center. The end of Alder Creek Road is not a parking area and you may receive a Town of Truckee parking ticket if you park there.

• No camping or fires are allowed.

Voluntary Summer Public Trail Pass Program This program is a voluntary monetary contribution for public trail users. Its purpose is to recognize the financial commitment and trail maintenance efforts the association has made and continues to make on the 60+ miles of multi-use singletrack and double-track summer trails. For those who are not Tahoe Donner members, a suggested donation of $5 for adult and $2 for child daily use, or $30

for adult and $15 for child summer pass is encouraged, and is available for donation at Alder Creek Adventure Center, Bikeworks, and Member Services; online at our ShopTD site; and at select iron rangers at the major trailheads of Glacier Way, Teton Way and the Euer Valley gateway located at Alder Creek Adventure Center. Trail access for members and guests of members is free.

Tahoe Donner Real Estate. Contact Alison Elder. There’s a reason Alison is the region’s top real estate agent. She’s good at what she does. When we were looking for a house, she understood our needs and wants. Within a few weeks, we found the right house. When we were putting our house on the market, she had the knowledge to know what potential buyers were looking for. Our house sold in one day. And I can’t say enough good things about her support staff. They were so helpful. I’m not sure how we could have gone through the selling and buying process without their assistance. A big “thumbs up” to Alison and her team. – Rick & Patti Momii, Tahoe Donner Sellers & Buyers
