Sophos highlights its synchronized security technology

Entities ranging from federal government agencies, municipalities, hospitality companies, airport authorities, customs authorities and many

Growth in the region is brisk, running into the double digits percentage-wise, something that Chib said was possible “because of the breadth of solutions that we have”. “The UAE is approximately 30 percent of our [regional] business. Dubai Police collaborates with Avaya to provide real-time engagement services to people of determination

In line with the strategy of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to integrate people of determination in society and provide them with equal rights, the Dubai Police announced today its plan to provide emergency solutions that serve all segments of the society, especially people of determination. The announcement was made during GITEX Technology Week 2018, in accordance with Dubai’s strategy of transforming into a smart city. This service connects the citizen with the nearest police patrol, which in turn can use the service to communicate with the headquarters at the same time. The solution also helps overcome the limitations of radio frequency currently used by patrol cars by leveraging the high-speed GSM network. The service saves “999” agents’ time that would otherwise be spent liaising between field officers and citizens and frees them to receive and act upon more calls. It also enhances the speed and quality of response to all citizens by directly linking police cars to reporters and other emergency services in the city instantly. The most important feature the service provides is respecting privacy, as the solution fully records and encrypts all the communication and interactions.

Misunderstanding around cloud cybersecurity responsibilities revealed in Europe and Middle East study providers sharing security responsibilities While there is misunderstanding about the responsibilities for data and infrastructure security in the cloud, there is little hesitance by organisations about operating multiple cloud service provider environments simultaneously. On average, most reported that their organisation used two cloud providers and almost 44 percent use three or more. Separate findings reveal that cybersecurity professionals do want more scrutiny over cloud service providers security capabilities. However, more than half (52%) say their organisation hasn’t carried out enough due diligence around cybersecurity requirements when picking a cloud provider, suggesting that security may

not be scrutinised appropriately as projects are scoped. Cybersecurity teams cannot assume that the security offered by public cloud vendors provides consistent and holistic enough protection. Today we see only just over one in ten cybersecurity professionals saying they have the capability to maintain consistent security policies across their entire IT space including typically multiple clouds; a situation that must significantly improve.”

There appears to be misperception and contradiction about who is responsible for cybersecurity within the public cloud finds global cybersecurity leader, Palo Alto Networks. The newly published cloud security study, released during GITEX Technology Week, revealed that nearly a third of respondents incorrectly believe

that the cloud service provider has primary responsibility for securing their organisation’s data within a public cloud infrastructure. However, while the shared responsibility model makes service providers responsible for their cloud infrastructure, organisations are wholly responsible for securing their own data and applications. Key findings include: a high majority (83 percent) of cybersecurity professionals expressed complete confidence in their cloud service provider securing the infrastructure; only 51 percent of respondents claim full awareness of the shared responsibility model; and one in ten respondents incorrectly believes that the shared responsibility model refers to multiple cloud
