TAFE at School Gold Coast Region Career Taster Engineering Electrical Program Description Get hands on and explore the future of the engineering electrical industry through this practical, non-accredited program designed to build skills, confidence and clear career pathways. This immersive 9-day experience begins with a one-day orientation and workshop safety induction, giving students the knowledge and expectations required to work safely and confidently in a trade environment. Participants rotate through eight days of practical electrical and engineering trade exposure, gaining real-world experience across electrotechnology, sustainable energy technologies, autonomous systems, and engineering trades. The program is delivered end-to-end by skilled teachers, with a strong focus on collaboration across disciplines to provide a well-rounded and engaging learning experience. Students will also benefit from industry engagement opportunities, including guest speakers and insights from past apprentices, helping to connect training with real-world career pathways. Through hands-on workshop activities, students are introduced to the fundamentals of electrical systems and safe working practices, learning to use tools, equipment, and industry-standard techniques. Participants explore sustainable energy technologies, gaining an understanding of renewable energy systems and emerging technologies shaping the future of the industry. Students are also introduced to autonomous and smart technologies, building awareness of automation, control systems, and their applications across modern engineering environments. In addition, learners gain exposure to broader engineering trade skills, developing practical knowledge of materials, problem-solving, and technical processes used across the electrical and engineering sectors. The experience concludes with an end-of-program celebration, recognising student achievements and providing an opportunity to showcase their work.
