Apprenticeships for Under 25s

Subsidised Training

The Queensland government is supporting young queenslanders up to the age of 25 by providing access to fully subsidised training across a range of priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications.

Learn hands on with the same equipment and tools used in industry, combining working for an employer and studying at TAFE Queensland, and graduate with a nationally-recognised qualification.

Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s explained

Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s was introduced by the Queensland Government in January 2021. If you are an apprentice or trainee studying a priority qualification, the training fees associated with your study will be covered by the Queensland Government.

Typically, these fees are $1.60 per hour of training at TAFE Queensland.

In most cases employers will pay this fee for their apprentices or trainees. Other times the apprentice or trainee will pay it. If you’re eligible for the free apprenticeships for under 25s program, the Queensland Government will pay this on your behalf.

Students may incur related costs such as uniform and other resources.
