Dear Students and Families, Welcome to Alexandra Hills TAFE Senior College. We are proud to lead a college that offers young people a different way to complete Years 11 and 12 - one that combines strong senior schooling with practical learning, TAFE Queensland opportunities, industry connections and a clear focus on what comes next. Between us, we bring complementary experience to Senior College. Bonnie has 23 years of experience with the Department of Education across mainstream, alternative schooling and regional roles, including more than a decade focused on senior schooling. Mark brings 15 years in education, together with industry experience in marine wildlife protection, conservation and dolphin training and has spent 7 years at TAFE Senior College. This combination of senior-schooling, industry and TAFE Queensland experience shapes our shared belief that education should open doors and create meaningful pathways for every student.
For some students that will be university, for others it will be TAFE Queensland, an apprenticeship or traineeship, further training or employment. Success looks different for every young person and our role is to help each student identify their strengths, build capability and move confidently towards their future. We build trust through respect, professionalism and responsibility in the way students, staff, families, TAFE Queensland and industry partners work together. Through a dual enrolment arrangement with the Department of Education and TAFE Queensland, the 2027 model combines QCE pathways and subject choice in a TAFE Queensland environment, specialist industry pathways and a dedicated weekly Pathway Day.

The 2027 weekly structure Four structured learning days plus a dedicated Pathway Day every Friday Students attend structured senior learning from Monday to Thursday. Each day commences at 9am, students attend four 70-minute sessions and the day concludes at 2.40pm.

What happens on Pathway Day? Friday provides dedicated time to connect classroom learning with future study, training and work. Activities will vary by pathway and may include certificate delivery, work experience, industry placement, employer engagement, career planning and pathway support.

Two-year program overview A clear two-year journey across four semesters The Senior College program is designed as a two-year journey. Year 1 builds belonging, learning routines and early pathway exposure, while Year 2 deepens achievement, industry connection and transition planning. Across the four semesters, students progress from work experience and industry tasters, into pathway-aligned certificate study, and finally to industry placement.

Pathway development
Build relationships, establish strong learning routines and commence selected senior subjects. Identify strengths, support needs and appropriate subject levels.
Semester 1: Work experience and industry tasters.
YEAR 1
Continue senior subjects and certificate progress, work toward QCE completion, strengthen independence and prepare for transition.
Semester 3: Continue pathway-aligned Certificate II study.
YEAR 2
Semester 2: Pathway-aligned Certificate II study and deeper exploration of the selected pathway.
Semester 4: Industry placement, employer connection and direct transition planning; conclude senior subject studies.
Individual programs are shaped by the student’s year level, subject selections, certificate enrolment, QCE requirements and transition plan.

Subjects by pathway Subject selection and enrolment advice Subject enrolment will be advised following review of the student’s Year 10 report card. Particular consideration will be given to achievement in English, Mathematics and Science to support appropriate placement, prerequisite readiness and the best chance of success in General, Applied and pathway-aligned subjects. Students do not automatically study every subject listed within a pathway; individual programs are developed through enrolment and pathway planning.
