What Sets OTI Apart From the Competition?

Ocean Tackle International products are built strong to withstand battles with the toughest fish on the planet.

From GTs to giant bluefin tuna and everything in between. OTI lures are ready to fish right out of the package with no need to change out hardware or components.

OTI Poppers feature a one piece hardwood body turned on a lathe with the final shaping done by hand.

The 500lb SS thru-wire is stronger than any molded lure insert, and will keep you connected even with catastrophic failure to the lure body. The hardware is completed with a 400lb swivel in the belly of the lure, 250lb Raptor split rings, and 4X strong Raptor treble hooks.

OTI Jigs start with a 250lb Raptor split ring connected to a welded solid ring. The welded ring is an important feature because the more common stamped rings can cut your monofilament line or assist cord under extreme circumstances. Each jig comes rigged with 2 Raptor assist hooks, which start with a 4X strong wide gap hook. Then 400lb spectra is doubled back into itself and knotted around the shank and shrink wrapped. The exposed assist cord gives the hooks a life of their own and allows you to inspect their integrity after every fish.

At the end of the day, you’re spending a lot of hard earned money on your fishing trip. You need lures that will stand up and deliver . Do not waste your time and money on lures that are not up to the task.

Ocean Tackle International (OTI) has established itself as the premier brand based in the United States for advanced performance saltwater tackle, specializing in Japanese style Jigging and Popping rods, lures, line and accessories targeting tuna, amberjack, wahoo, mahi mahi, grouper, and many other big game species.

OTI was established in 2006 by three avid fishermen with a combined offshore experience of over five decades. Seeking the latest and greatest in lightweight yet heavy-duty high-performance jigging and popping tackle, they found that these products often had to be sourced from Japan and were usually overpriced and difficult to get serviced. After seven years of sourcing these products for personal use and re-rigging store bought products with better components, they decided to pursue a concept that is now OTI. The concept is simple: Develop advanced products of uncompromising quality with the best components at a price that makes them available to more anglers. OTI continually strives to meet this goal and is constantly researching to expand on successes while offshore.

In addition to our own field testing, we have a great network of friends, including captains and professional fishermen that put our products to the test all around the world. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support and the many beautiful photographs and wonderful fishing stories that they have contributed.

Rigging your OTI Jig OTI Jigs come rigged and ready to fish right out of the package. The 250lb Raptor split rings and welded solid rings are built to withstand abuse from the strongest fish on the planet. That means you can integrate tools like swivels to help reduce line twist. By joining a swivel, split ring, and solid ring, you have also created a quick-change system that can swap jig colors and assist hook models to meet whatever situation you find yourself in without having to re-tie knots. This system also allows you to easily remove jigs while underway so that you don’t have to worry about the jig damaging your rod.

For those who like to keep it simple, OTI welded solid rings allow for your mono leader to be tied directly without the risk of the ring cutting your line under extreme drag pressure.

One or two assist hooks can be used based on your fishing style and preference. Squid skirts can also be added to the assist hook to enhance the appeal of your jig.

OTI Rod Care & Maintenance Tips: When reeling in lures, try not to reel all the way in until the lure hits the rod tip.

When fighting fish, try not to lift your rod up at an angle more than 45 degrees from the horizon. Doing so, sometimes called “high sticking,� can lead to rod breakage.

When running, make sure that the jigs are either removed or secured with a lure wrap so that they do not swing freely and bang against the rod blank or guides. Also, the hook should go through the guide foot rather than through the ring.

Rinse off the rod with freshwater after each fishing trip. Before putting the rod away, some Teflon coated grease such as Corrsion-X may be applied. When not in use, keeping the rod in the rod sock will help protect it and ensure longevity.

If EVA foam grips get dented from a rough trip, boil hot water, steam the dented area of the foam, and rub. The dent should release itself, often times recovering completely. However, results may vary depending on severity of the dent.

OTI Rod Care & Maintenance Tips: When reeling in lures, try not to reel all the way in until the lure hits the rod tip.

When fighting fish, try not to lift your rod up at an angle more than 45 degrees from the horizon. Doing so, sometimes called “high sticking,” can lead to rod breakage.

Insert the top portion into the ferel only until snug. Applying too much pressure can make the two sections extremely difficult to seperate. If you do have trouble seperating the sections, aplying a very cold substance, like a bag of frozen vegetables for several minutes before removing can help alleviate the pressure.

When separating the blank section from the grip section of a two-piece rod, do not grab the stripper guide for extra leverage as this may damage the guide. With one hand on the blank and one hand on the grip, twist in opposite directions until the connection loosens. Just pulling in opposite directions wil not separate the sections due to the tight fit and the suction that forms.
