Although the oldest cow in the herd, Toffee would easily pass for half her age. She was shown once as a calf and was Reserve All Ireland Calf Champion in Limerick (2002). She is a very fertile cow and has flushed consistently well for us. She is extremely correct and functional with great muscling. Her dam Acajoe Van Terbeck was the top cow in the famous Van Terbeck herd when Toffee was purchased as an embryo. Toffeeâ€™s half-brother Ronaldo Van Terbeck stood in AI (Haliba) in Belgium. Toffee is sold pregnant carrying a bull calf by the stock bull Rathlyon Calvin (Lot 30) and is due to calve at the beginning of February. Her progeny have consistently commanded top prices.

Her dam Bringlee Bronwyn (by Colibri) is a big, powerful, correct cow out of Bringlee Sandy. Her sire is Empire d’Ochain, who has made a tremendous impact in our herd. This powerful, tall, correct blue and white heifer calf won at Tullow Show and the National Show in Tullamore recently. Like her half-sister Rathlyon Emer (Lot 4) she has tremendous breeding potential. Her maternal half-brother Rathlyon Alister sold at the premier sale in Roscrea (2008) for € 9,200. Evita’s dam Rathlyon Wispa is also in the sale ( Lot 16 ). Her sire Empire d’Ochain has class stamped all over her. Evita comes from a good flushing line.

She has two other full sisters in the sale today; Rathlyon Charlene (Lot 10) and Rathlyon Debbie (Lot 11). Her full brother Ringfort Cormac is currently at stud in Dovea A.I. station. She comes from a terrific flushing family and has great breeding potential.

A real gem of a blue and white heifer. She is tall, long and muscular with good function. She is by Y-Black van de Wildebeek out of what was arguably our best breeding cow to date, Rathlyon UBeauty. Barbara is dam of Rathlyon Edna (Lot 20). Barbara showed well as a calf, winning first prize and overall champion in Tullow and was third in the All-Ireland Breeding Heifer Championships in 2009. Her full brother Rathlyon Bruce was All-Ireland Junior Bull Champion in 2009. Like her dam and sisters she is an excellent flushing heifer. She has produced 53 good embryos to date. Her sire is Empire dâ€™Ochain who has done a fantastic job in our herd. Bringlee Sandy is probably the most famous cow in the U.K, with an illustrious show career and numerous sons in AI in Britain and Belgium (e.g. Black star, Dynamite, Dandy, Volkawagon etc.) As one might expect Destiny is also a very good flusher. This blue and white heifer oozes power and correctness. She is dam of the Reserve All-Ireland Senior male calf Champion 2011 Rathlyon Enrico. She is by Blak du Baty d’Eprave and out of a home bred cow Rathlyon Ursuline. Ursuline sold in our last sale for € 8,200. Belle was a first prize winner in Rathdowney in 2009. Belle’s descends from a very prolific flushing line. Her grand dam Plaisante de Beemont was imported from Belgium and classified 100 for legs and feet and 94.7 for muscle. She yielded 22 embryos in her first flush, resulting in 17 pregnancies. Ursuline had 47 embryos produced before she was 2 years old. Belle has produced 44 good embryos to date. She is a full sister of Rathlyon Charlene (Lot 10) and Rathlyon Emer (Lot 4), out of Roontje ET van de Wolvendreef (a very powerful, correct full sister of two A.I. bulls in Belgium, Eklkehard and Jop van de Wolvendreef) and by Empire dâ€™Ochain. She has been flushed once successfully. Debbie is sold in calf to Victorieux du Chene (VDC; 7/3/11) and is due in early December.

This muscular, correct blue and white heifer has a power packed pedigree (Cubitus x Black du Baty x Baron x Seduisant). Brona has been flushed once successfully. She is in calf to our stock bull Rathlyon Calvin (lot 30). She carries a bull calf which is due at the end of March 2012. What a prospect this calf should be. Her dam Ross Vivienne had an illustrious show career and was National Champion in 2006. Brona’s sire Blak du Baty d’Eprave (BYU) breeds extremely meaty well conformed cattle. In the Rathlyon herd we have tremendous results when crossing BYU daughters with large structural bulls e.g. Empire d’Ochain.

This white cow is very muscular and has bred a lot of nice quality cattle to date. She has been a very consistent good flusher and has produced 58 good embryos to date. Her sire Orpheon du Pont de Messe, a son of Radar Van Terbeck was one of the most sought after bulls for pedigree breeding in Belgium. She was imported from Belgium as an embryo and is out of Nimf van Terveck one of the best brood cows in the Van Terbeck herd. Yoko is the Dam of Rathlyon Dara (Lot 13) and of the twins Rathlyon Eva (Lot25) and Rathlyon Eve (Lot 26). She has had one natural calf to date and is left open for flushing.

Her dam Rathlyon U-Beauty is arguably our best brood cow to date. Her sire Greystone Jackpot was structurally one of the biggest and most correct bulls ever in A.I. At 152 cms, he weighed 2350 kgs. Fern is maternal half-sister to Rathlyon Dave (Lot 29), this year’s Reserve All-Ireland Junior Bull Champion and Rathlyon Bruce All-Ireland Junior Bull Champion 2009. Her sister Rathlyon Barbara (lot 5) also sells today.

Chief is a very big meaty blue and white bull. He is a son of Rathlyon U-Beauty probably our best brood cow to date. He is a maternal half-brother to Rathlyon Bruce, (All-Ireland Junior Bull Champion 2009), Rathlyon Dave (Reserve All-Ireland Junior Bull Champion 2011; Lot 29), Rathlyon Barbara (lot 5) and Rathlyon Fern (lot 27). His sire Tamhorn Sumo, by Affute was one of the finest bulls to come out of the UK and showed successfully, winning numerous championships including the Royal at Stonleigh. Chief should produce heavy well conformed weanlings.

His half-brother Rathlyon Bruce (by Y- Black) was AllIreland Junior Bull Champion and Overall Male Champion at Tullamore in 2009. Dave is fertility tested and has served heifers.

EMPIRE Dâ€™OCHAIN -Sire of Lot 29
This blue and white gentle giant embodies all that is good in modern Belgian Blue breeding. He is tall, long, mobile, and well muscled throughout. He was our obvious choice of stock bull for 2011. His mother Rathlyon Tiffany, by Ubidet d’aux Houx was one of our best and most consistent breeding cows. She sold earlier this year as a store cow weighing 980kgs. Calvin’s sire is the famous Dafydd d’Ochain renowned for vitality and function who crossed really well with Tiffany. Three other full brothers of Calvin have sold for € 7400 (Rathlyon Bruce; private) , €6000 and € 5900 (Premier Sale in Roscrea 2011) to date. His pedigree suggests very easy calving. Calvin’s first pedigree calf (Rathlyon Fintan) was born in April and shows great potential. White in colour, he has the style, power and correctness of his sire.

AUCTIONEERS CONDITIONS OF SALE The bidding is to be regulated by the Auctioneers, in terms of “Euro” bids plus 5% fees (exclusive of VAT) charged to the buyers. The auctioneers will regulate bidding as they see fit, with no bid less than 5 Euro between 100 and 200 Euro; therefore not less than 10 Euro. The highest bidder for any lot shall be the buyer and the contract shall be concluded on the fall of the hammer.
