Bill & Nancy Biglieni Box 327, Douglas, MB R0K 0R0 wlblivestock@inetlink.ca Ph/fax: (204) 763-4697 • Cell: (204) 729-7925 wlblivestock.com Welcome Hereford Breeders, I can’t recall my Grandpa ever lying to me and as each day goes by, I realize he was again telling me the truth when he told me to spend my time wisely; as the older I get the faster the days go by. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the time for our second Internet heifer sale. When I think how the past year has flown by I am more confident an Internet Sale format is right for the times. While I am not the best manager of time myself, I have been blessed with a wife that is well organized in all facets of life and business. What a contrast Nancy and I can be at times! Even with Nancy’s help it can be challenging juggling my schedule so I can get off the farm to go to sales. I would imagine many breeders are in the same position as myself when it comes to finding time to get away. It wasn’t easy embracing some of this new technology, but I have learned it does make my time more manageable. With today’s technological advances it is very feasible to portray our sale animals in a more informative manner for all to see. The Internet catalogue provides easy access to loads of information, through pictures and video enabling you to make a better choice when selecting an animal to fit your needs. You are as near to a sale as a phone, email, or text message. You can continue taking care of the priorities at home and still get the answers to your questions regarding a buying opportunity. Please keep in mind you are still invited and encouraged to stop by to look at the heifers. Nancy and I will be happy to take time to enjoy your visit and show you this special group. If you can’t stop by I hope you will be in contact through one of these many avenues now available to us all. As for the sale cattle, I am confident you will find a heifer to meet your demands whether looking for a cow prospect or show heifer. Junior breeders, remember the 2011 Bonanza Show is in Saskatoon. We would be happy to discuss arrangements with you regarding development of your WLB heifer purchase for this major event. We are also offering a few prospect steer calves this year, all sired by bulls from either our herd bull lineup or our AI tank. If you are in the hunt for a good steer to show be sure to look at the WLB offering. They are in the sale because we feel they will feed out and compete. We will again offer a $100 show incentive to our junior buyers. This rebate offer is also be available for the steers. More information can be found on the Terms and Conditions page. We invite you to have a look at them all then give us a call. We look forward to talking with you. Bill Biglieni

TERMS AND CONDITIONS Junior breeders incentive payment: In addition to being a participant in the Canadian Junior Hereford Association heifer lottery, Nancy and I are pleased to offer to any junior buyers of a WLB INTERNET HEIFER (Canada and US) a $100 payment upon receiving a picture of you showing your WLB internet heifer or steer at any show. While we wish you the best you do not have to win a championship or a class but you do have to participate in a cattle show of your choosing and you do have to send us a photo (email preferred). All photos become the property of WLB and may be used in WLB promotions. Herd Health: All WLB cattle have been vaccinated with Express 10 modified live vaccine for IBR, PI3, BVD, RSV, and Lepto. Calves are also vaccinated with ultrabac 7/somubac for blackleg and Haemophilus Somnus. The WLB cowherd has tested PI negative for BVD. Payment: No animals shall leave WLB until full payment has been received. Any heifers remaining at WLB because of payment still owing after 30 days will be charged a room and board fee of $4/day. We remind you that all heifers are at the buyers risk 24 hours after the sale. Please insure your purchases. Insurance: Buyers can insure their purchases with their chosen representative or we can forward appropriate information to Lois McRae who represents Livestock Insurance Managers, Saskatoon, SK. We would be happy to contact Lois on your behalf. Delivery: Every assistance will be given to help in the shipment of your purchase. Your heifers are welcome to remain at WLB for a reasonable time, until shipping arrangements can be made. Certificate of Registration: Each heifer will carry papers issued by the Canadian Hereford Association, which can be transferred to the American Hereford Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. Guarantee: Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk 24 hours after the sale. All animals in the sale are sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Hereford Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and genetic unsoundness. Breeding Guarantee: All heifers are guaranteed breeders however, in recognition that overfeeding can be detrimental to the reproductive ability of a young female, if we feel that a heifer has been fed to an extreme level of obesity for the show ring, we will hold the feeder responsible for any reproductive problems and therefore no longer be responsible to guarantee that particular animal. US buyer information: • Exchange rate: Will be posted with sale order on November 15, 2010. Delivery to U.S. buyers: We welcome your participation at our second Internet Heifer Sale. We hope you find a WLB heifer that catches your interest. Listed below is important information for our U.S. buyers. We ask you to read and familiarize yourself with this information. Feel free to call us if you have any questions regarding the heifers or this information. 1. We have exported a number of cattle to the US in the last few years and have become familiar with the arrangements necessary to cross the border. If a U.S. buyer wishes for WLB to arrange shipping we will do so to the best of our ability. Part of arranging US shipments is dealing with specific dates and times that cattle have to meet US trucks. Taking advantage of these opportunities can help keep your shipping cost within reason. If these opportunities are missed then this means individual animals may have to bear the entire cost of being shipped to their U.S. destination. In other words your shipping cost will go up. Prompt payment insures your heifer is available to take advantage of group shipping opportunities when they arise. 2. Since 9/11 things have changed at the border. More paper work, homeland security, rising broker cost, and the list goes on. We are happy to assist with the paperwork and getting your purchases across the border. In lieu of U.S. Customs and brokerage charges: US buyers will be charged $250 for each animal purchased in addition to the purchase price, which will go toward the export cost. WLB will then cover all additional cost including (veterinary charges) above this amount including trucking cost to the U.S. port of entry at Dunseith, N.D. This charge is based upon the assumption that all U.S. bound heifers will be exportable across the border in one shipment. Any U.S. heifers remaining at WLB due to late payment will then be charged for all export cost and additional examinations by the veterinarian above the $250 already charged . 3. All trucking from the US port of entry to the buyer’s final destination will be at the expense of the buyer. 4. Please provide to us the following information, which is needed to satisfy the U.S. customs office and brokers. Full name, complete address, phone numbers, and Social security number

AUCTION GUIDELINES Welcome to the WLB Internet Heifer Auction. We have tried to create an easy to understand online auction process. Please read the following instructions and if you have any trouble or questions, be sure to give us a call at 204 763 4697 or email: wlblivestock@inetlink.ca WLB INTERNET AUCTION DATES AND TIMES The auction has been set to run from 9:00 a.m. CST on Thursday, November 11th with the Internet gavel coming down on the first lot at 7:00 p.m. CST Monday, November 15. We will then proceed to sell one heifer using the 30-second bidding clock until all heifers are sold. A sale order will be posted 9:00 a.m. Monday morning. If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the numbers listed on the terms and conditions page. Interested buyers should allow up to two days before receiving bidder authorization. HOW TO PARTICIPATE In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number. To do this go to the LiveAuctions website, www.liveauctions.tv, and select WLB Livestock Online Auction. After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up automatically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number”. This form requires you to fill out your banks name, city, state, phone number and a contact. You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not instantaneous. Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid. You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID. There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”. No one else will be able to see your bid – that data is not accessible to the public. Each time you login, the auction screen will display your personal bidding information. Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you. Remember that you must have the lot that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy (automatic) bid settings as applicable. WHAT IS A PROXY BID? With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay. This means that you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding. It can also be a wise tool to use during the final close out bidding. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other registered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”. But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid. The final close out bidding process – Last year there was some confusion on the first lot which ended up selling without any final bids being submitted. We received a few calls after the sale from breeders who were interested in bidding on this heifer but failed to watch the 30 second clock and let the bidding time expire. When the bidding starts The bidding clock will run for 30 seconds or until there is a bid at which time the clock will rewind to 30 seconds again. For example: if the bidding clock gets down to 1 second remaining then a higher bid is submitted, the clock will then restart at 30 seconds. This rewind process will continue with each bid received until 30 seconds elapses without a bid. Then the lot will be considered sold. So if you are interested in a particular heifer them be sure to submit your bid while there is still time on the clock. This is where using the proxy bid can come in handy insuring you do not miss a bid! Jill Mader: (403) 990-9187 Brad Fahrmeier: (816) 392-9241

Last year’s National Hereford Show held at the Canadian Western Agribition was a very memorable one for us. The dam of Just Lovely, WLB 7M Fran 82S, a three year old WLB Fresh 7M daughter won the Canadian National Champion Polled Hereford Female banner. Her bull calf WLB Samsonite 69T 84W(Just Lovely’s full brother) was named the Reserve Senior Bull Calf Champion. In addition to her National Championship Fran was chosen as a RBC Supreme Top Ten finalist. As a breeder it gave Nancy and myself a great sense of pride to be able to represent the Hereford breed in such a select group at such a prestigious event. WLB 7M Fran 82S Dam of WLB Just Lovely 84X

Nancy and I feel this year’s group of heifers has one of the strongest top ends we have ever had. However having said that we still feel Just Lovely is a standout within this standout group. When you consider where her dam and full brother have walked before her, you know Just Lovely did not just happened to come along. How many heifers will you come across this fall that are out of a National Champion Female, sired by a Reserve National Champion Bull, and a full sibling to a division winner, all of which won their titles at the same National show.

WLB Samsonite 69T 84W 2009 Canadian National Reserve Senior Bull Calf Champion and full brother to Just Lovely

When you see Just Lovely on the video you will find her to be sweet fronted and strong in her joints. She possesses exceptional depth, substance, and broodiness while portraying a demanding “look at me” presentation. Watch her move! She’s very smooth and consistent in her stride. 2009 Grand Champion Polled Hereford Female With WLB Samsonite 69T 84W at her side

At the risk of being called show ring junkies we will again enter Fran in the 2010 Agribition Canadian National Hereford Show. When we see her along side Just Lovely we can’t resist the temptation to see them both in the showring side by side, among some of the top females in North America. We think when you see them together you will agree with our decision! We would like to reserve the right to a future flush, at the buyer’s convenience.

Like many breeders in North America, Nancy and I were in attendance at the 1,000 head Remitall dispersal. It was a lot of cattle to look through and I compliment the Latimers for how well they had them penned and organized. We were very pleased to come home with one from our short list among the many cows that sold. Juno 204S is a moderate framed perfect uddered performance power cow. Her numbers show her way above breed average for yearling performance and in real time terms she is definitely above breed average on milk ethics. Her Shapley daughter is one we would really like to put back in our program. She shows how well WLB genetics will work when used in Remital Catalina 24H other programs big or small. If you are a junior breeder looking for a You will find her in the pedigree of competitive show heifer that could also be a strong start to your young 15X twice program, be sure to grab this attractive well-bred heifer. 15X is bred to be a top end producer and displays herself like a first class show heifer. If you are an established breeder looking for an exceptionally strong pedigree to compliment your program, you won’t find one any stouter than this Shapley daughter, out of a female that is double bred Catalina 24H.

You will remember 127J as the ET dam of our lead off choice lot in last year’s sale, which sold to Winchester Cattle Company. The dam of 28X is a Federal daughter and one of the top end females within our herd. Her 2009 Eli daughter will be in our show string at the 150th Anniversary National Hereford Show. We were very fortunate to be able to walk WLB 7M Square 85R for a couple of seasons. Square is a WLB Fresh 7M son that sold to our good friends and customers Don and Dallas Kruger. Square is a maternal brother to the dam of our Agribition Champion Bull, WLB Eli 10H 83T. Square progeny are moderate framed, square hipped, thick stifled, and round ribbed. Some breeders may want to make this heifer a little bigger, but keep in mind she is only an April calf. With the depth and volume she has we are pretty sure you won’t want to change much about the way she is made and definitely not the way she is bred. Take a look at the bottom of her pedigree and you will find her dam is an ET daughter sired by 29F out of the dam of WLB Fresh 7M. The first calf out of 702T was our winning bull calf in last year’s Red Coat Classic Show. This fancy April born Square daughter is her second. We think this heifer is pretty neat. She possesses loads of natural thickness on a square frame and a wide base. Structurally you won’t find much of a hole in her build. Be sure to study her video, she will grow on you! I have talked highly on many of the Shapleys in this event and this one shouldn’t be short changed on the compliments either. She’s bred as well as we can breed em and has as much performance for age as any heifer in the sale. For all her extra length she still shows lots of depth and middle. This Heat daughter is a growthy heifer out of a stout, round ribbed Mutumbo daughter. She goes back to the Nickie 10D cow family, which was one of the stronger, more influential Shell River cow families we have worked with. One of my favorites in last years Internet event was a Holly’s maternal sister sired by Agribition Champion, WLB Eli 10H 83T. She sold to Phil & Laurie Jones and family of Redwing Farms, Cameron, ON.

Sire: DR World Class 10H This straight-bred Hereford has a big hip and a good rib. If you are looking for a competitive steer that will weigh up there and give the crossbreds a run for their money you will want to take a run at this guy.

Steer # 111 - Polled Hereford

Born:April 5, 2010

Adj 205: 763 lbs.

Sire: WLB Shapley 50S 40U Here’s a younger steer that’s really nice butted. He’s naturally up headed and presents himself well. We think this Shapley son will stand some stiff competition.

Steer # 355 - Hereford/Simmental

Born:April 26, 2010

Actual WW at 152 days - 650 lbs

Sire: HF 37R Transwest 55T Take note of his age. He will have enough growth in him to be ready next summer. Keep the feed to him and you should be very pleased with how he brings it all together. Very nice butted with a nice side. Both his parents were purebred individuals in their respective breeds.
