After which time a board charge of $3/day will be in effect. Please let the clerk know of your intentions at time of settlement. Buyers risk: All bulls become the responsibility of the buyer once the sale is over. We strongly encourage you to protect your investment by insuring your purchases. In Herd Semen: WLB reserves the right to collect farm use semen on any bulls selling. If this is done it will be done at the buyer’s convenience and WLB’s expense. Semen testing: All bulls selling have been semen evaluated by an accredited veterinarian. BVD: All bulls are on an approved vaccination program using Express 5/Somnugen, a modified live vaccine. Breeding guarantee: All bulls sell carrying the standard breeding guarantee specified by their respective breed association. However in the event a settlement is necessary a full refund of the purchase price will be made. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchase price of the animal. Genetic abnormalities: All WLB bulls selling in this sale are guaranteed to be free of any genetic abnormality as currently specified with the Canadian Hereford Association. Exchange rate: The exchange rate will be announced prior to the sale. Delivery to U.S. We will be happy to assist with the paperwork and getting your purchases across the border. In order to cover the cost of veterinarian, U.S. Customs and brokerage charges: U.S. buyers will be charged an additional $350 for each bull purchased. WLB will then cover all additional cost above this amount including trucking cost to the U.S. port of entry at Dunseith, N.D. This charge is based upon the assumption that all U.S. bound bulls will cross the border in one shipment. U.S. bulls remaining at WLB due to late payment will be charged for all export cost and any additional examinations by the veterinarian. Trucking from the U.S. port of entry to the buyer’s final destination will be the responsibility of the buyer.

We welcome you to our 9th annual bull sale. It continues to grow and move itself in a progressive direction. I don’t think we have had any two bull sales which were closely similar as it seems that we are always tweaking something or changing certain aspects of our sale in a significant way. This year instead of offering more bulls we have decided to raise the bar and offer only the top end of our bull crop. It is with great pride that we invite you to appraise these individuals. Our bull weights are up significantly which fits in with what our commercial bull buyers are demanding. Hopefully we can help you to take advantage of the record calf prices yet to come. A big benefit of our bull sales has always been the opportunity for Nancy and myself to talk with you producers about what you are looking for in a new herd bull. It helps us to set our own parameters and priorities for when we purchase our own herd bulls. We appreciate the chance to visit with you as well as meet some of you for the first time. Last year many of you were complimentary of our bulls in spite of the abundance of snow that fell on them and those of you who attended on sale day. Once again we thank you all for being with us on that stormy day. This has been an exciting year for us as we watch our genetics contribute to other programs and shine for their owners . We congratulate Kerry Hart and his family in Frederick, South Dakota. Their WLB Roughneck 377W son, Hart The Factor 673Y, topped their 2012 bull sale at a good price of $33,000.

Last summer was the year for Canada to host the World Hereford Conference and Show. This event was held in Olds, Ab.

It was held in conjunction with the Junior Hereford Bonanze Hereford Show. An enthusiastic young Hereford breeder and customer, Cayley Brown, Princeton, BC won the Grand Champion Female honors at the Junior Bonanza Hereford Show and then the next day she continued her winning ways by taking the Grand Champion Polled Female banner at the World Hereford Conference Show. We are pleased to say the female she won both of these awards with was WLB 36N Beth ET 454S.

The day got even better for us as another WLB female, WLB 69TJust Lovely 84X was selected as the Reserve Grand Champion Polled Female at the World Show for Winchester Cattle Company, St Ambroise, MB. Just Lovely was the high selling heifer calf in our 2010 Internet Heifer Sale. Her bull calf, WLB Anser 90X 10Z was at her side and sells as lot 33 in this sale. At the end of the day, both Grand and Reserve Champion WHC Polled Hereford Females were bred by WLB Livestock. Beth also went on to win the first ever vote for the Miss Hereford World Competition for Cayley. This competition was among National Champion Hereford females from over 20 countries and was held through an online vote by breeders and selected judges from around the world. Needless to say we were pretty darn proud to have bred a female worthy of such an honor.
