The 4th Annual Ward’s Red Angus and Guest Bull Sale is upon us and with it comes more excitement and anticipation than we have ever seen. The cattle market is stronger by the day and buyers are having a hard time finding enough cattle to fill their orders. For those of you who have stayed the course… congratulations, your time has finally come. I recently heard the statement, “The beef business starts the day the calf is born.” When you think about it, this is a very true and meaningful statement. Obviously without the birth of a new calf crop every year, there would be no more beef business. However this statement refers to a whole lot more, the calf has to be born alive, unassisted and have vigor or the will to live, for the industry to continue. These very basic, yet essential fundamentals have been the corner stone of the Ward and Benlock programs. From the beginning they have bred cattle that offer calving ease and vigor, as well as fertility and longevity. They also develop these bulls on high roughage diets, ensuring you will buy a sound productive bull that will get your females bred in a timely manor. The Ward bull pen is as stout and consistent in type as it has ever been. The yearling pen is led off by the Agribition show bull, a son of the many time Red Ter-Ron Real Deal 01W. 16Y has attracted a lot of attention; the entire sire group is impressive. You can select from multiple half brothers in every sire group, in the offering. There is a solid group of Red fall born bulls again, that can go out and service a larger number of cows. Tom Blacklock has once again offered a solid set of two year old Black Angus bulls. These rugged, ranch raised bulls are specifically selected and held back for this event and are anything but “leftovers.” Sound, free moving bulls that will go out and perform well in big pastures, with lots of cows. The genetics are proven by Benlock’s highly successful meat trade, which has more demand from repeat buyers than they can supply. Come early to look the bulls over, visit with Clarke or Tom, as they would be pleased to help you select the best sire for your program. Also come hungry and enjoy the great beef lunch! If we, at T Bar C, may be of any assistance, prior to or sale day, feel free to give Ted or myself a call. Chris

Tracker has excellent length of body, a flawless structure, large testicles, and passes that on to his calves. These calves tend to be darker in color and have the added bonus of a champion maternal cow line behind them, with the Diamond Mist cow. The females we have retained are proving themselves and the bulls always rise to the top of the pen. If you want some muscle and power in your calves or if you’re thinking of retaining females, the Tracker progeny will get it done.

Well it has definitely been worth the wait. This sire has depth of body, muscle, is good footed, structurally correct and a dark cherry hair coat. His mother has quite the history and is an Elite Dam! His bull calves have been stand outs since birth and brought a lot of attention this year at Agribtion! We have followed this line of genetics since the great grandsire 11L; with each generation they have improved. We feel the sons on the ground now represent the quality this bull has to offer.

Here is one of the most exciting bulls that we have ever raised. Everyone knows that Real Deal could get it done in the ring, 16Y is proof he can get it done in the breeding DRAW 16Y 1644093 Feb. 27/11 CE** pasture. Not often does a bull with this much muscle mass, style, eye appeal and RED TER-RON FULLY LOADED 540R testicle come along. Often as breeders, we undervalue our own RED TER-RON RELOAD 703T AMF CAF NHF OSF MAF RED TER-RON SAMARIA 103N cattle. It was not until Agribition 2011 that he really started to shine. I’ve liked this bull since birth; it has always been in my mind to use him. 17Y’s cow adds a little twist to this bull’s pedigree. His dam 97N is a rock solid cow; she has a red sister that topped Red Roundup in 2009, selling to Ter-Ron Farms. 97N has consistently produced very solid black calves for Cole. This is the first red calf she has produced and he is a stand out! 17Y’s flawless structure, excellent muscle expression, overall eye appeal and above average rate of gain make him an easy choice for anyone’s herd. We intend to use this bull on cows and heifers to diversify our genetic base. I feel this bull has as much genetic potential as his brother 16Y; this is why we are retaining a full 1/3 interest and possession. Red Fall Yearlings...

This year’s group of fall bulls is the same rugged working class bull we have always produced. They were weaned in May and left on pasture until the third week of September. This group of bulls does not get pampered; their mothers do most of the work on a high roughage based diet. We do not raise two year olds and believe these bulls are a good alternative to someone looking for an aged bull. The bulk of them will be 18-20 months of age by turn out time, giving you a little extra punch in the pasture!

The Wright’s dispersed their cow herd this fall and after watching this bull’s ability to service females and maintain condition, coupled with his pedigree, we felt he was too good to just send through the stock yards. We purchased the bull back from Ron and Laurie and have been managing him here since September. A power bull with a little experience, he is too good to pass up, if you have a large group of cows to breed.

Loadout:

No bulls will be allowed to load out until the conclusion of the sale. MASTERFEEDS Inc. and WARD’S RED ANGUS are proud partners in Nutritional Management for this year’s bull offering to you, our valued customer. We understand the need for these bulls to go out and work for you; so to ensure that they are capable of doing so the feed program was designed to develop them muscularly, without too much extra condition. The bulls were started on the Pro-Pell Ration; a pelleted Bull Developer ration containing Amino Plus (cooked Soya meal) which provides excellent by-pass protein with increased digestibility. The Pro-Pell ration is high in protein, with limited energy to grow the bulls rather than getting them fat! This ration was designed to maintain the weight gain through the cold season and put a bit of flesh on the bulls. With this feed program, we have developed these bulls to come to you in their work clothes with performance, and soundness without burnout. We are confident that you will be happy with the results. Wishing you a successful breeding season in 2012. Feel free to call if you have any questions regarding our program.
