On behalf of the Triple A Angus Breeders, this is your welcome and special invitation to join us for the 20th Anniversary of the Triple A Bull Sale at Johnstone Auction Mart, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. This long running event features a powerful set of yearling Angus bulls, both red and black, that have been performance tested since the middle of October and come with a complete set of performance records enhancing this powerful group of bulls. The bulls have been on test at Hagerty Livestock and can be viewed there. They are located 6.5 miles north of highway #1 on Kalium road near Belle Plain or the bulls will be available for viewing at the sale barn the day prior the sale. The offering is comprised of a top set of bulls... diverse in both phenotype and genotype. They will suit virtually any program and any budget. If you are looking for low birth sires (calving ease) for the heifer pasture or power bulls for the cows, there is a great line-up to select from. The group represented are long standing breeders, with proven highly maternal cowherds, using the latest genetics. Ultrasound Carcass Data:

The importance of carcass trait information will be increased as value based marketing and quality assurance programs become more recognized and commonplace in the beef industry. Cattle should be scanned as close as possible in age at which their progeny will likely go to slaughter. A range from 12 months to 14 months is probably optimal. Ultra Sound Measurements in a Breed Program: As with all genetic traits, ultrasound measurements should only be compared among animals of similar age and similar management. Only then is it of any measured value to use the ultrasound measurement for selection.

Back Fat

Fat measurement is important for several reasons. First fat depth inﬂuences lean meat yields; fat bulls have less lean meat in the carcass. Secondly fat measurements give indications of a bull’s ﬂeshing ability. Extremes in either too lean or too fat a bull are undesirable. Moderation is key.

IMF/Marbling

This may be the most important attribute to be measured with ultrasound. This trait can convert into as much as $80 difference in a carcass from a AA to AAA grade. The values are numerical and indicate the estimate of carcass marbling if the animal was slaughtered immediately following the evaluation. The scale is as follows:

Bulls will register at least a full degree less marbling and 30% less back fat thickness than steers of the same age and feeding history. The marbling estimates are best utilized by grouping the bulls into high, medium and low marbling groups rather than to compare individuals that differ by only a few tenths of a score.

Ribeye Area Adjusted to 100 lbs Body Weight (REA in/100 lbs)

The largest ribeye area may belong to the largest bull therefore adjusting the REA to 100 pounds body weight helps determine which bulls are more muscular and which bulls are simply heavier.

Lean Meat Yield (LMY%)

This is the percentage of lean meat in a carcass. Yield grade is an economically important factor in marketing carcasses. With a high genetic potential, this trait can be an important objective in a breeding program.

This was our first calf crop out of KG Solution 0018 and some of the first Solution calves registered in Canada. We were attracted to the outcross calving ease, maternal pedigree, plus great performance. If you think this bull looks impressive on paper you should see him in the pen. This bull has muscle, length, strong feet and legs. This bull has it all and will definitely be one to watch for at the sale. A nice long bodied bull that will work very well on heifers.

The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bigger and in cases of disputes, the auctioneerâ€™s decision will be final.

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller. facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may, in extreme cases, be taken must be between buyer and seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. assumes no responsibility of any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Certificate of Registration... Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health... All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Guarantee... Each animal becomes the purchaserâ€™s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

Phone, Mail & Wire Bids... Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Insurance... We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors... All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.

Delivery... Delivery can be arranged at a cost of $100 per bull within 300 km of Moose Jaw. If you are over 300 km we can assist you in making travel arrangements at cost.
