The last six months has seen some major changes in our farming operation. In November, our son, Steve, and wife, Amy, along with their two little boys, Brayden and Carter purchased land adjacent to ours. We have now incorporated our farms to become Herbert Land & Cattle Co. Ltd. Together we hope to expand and improve both our purebred and commercial Speckle Park herds.

It’s exciting to be back at Notta Ranch for the seventh consecutive year with animals in the sale. Again this year we are bringing our best two year old bulls, Chris Poley’s pick of our heifer crop, and three cow/calf pairs. Our aim has always been to produce top quality Spots ‘N Sprouts breeding stock. That has resulted in bulls like Lacerta, Stands Alone and Bart, that have made names for themselves both in the show ring and internationally. We trust the animals we are bringing to the sale this year will prove to be of the same quality.

Spots ‘N Sprouts Speckle Parks Prices have changed dramatically since we first got involved in the breed in the 1980’s. Back then, Speckle

Now, 25 years later, at Speckle Park influence sales, the steers are commanding a 10 cent per pound premium and heifers up to 50 cents per pound over sale average. The bulls you purchase at this sale will enable you to take advantage of these prices.

Welcome to the 2018 edition of the Supreme Speckle Park Bull and Female Sale at Notta Ranch, Neilburg, Saskatchewan, the founding home of Canada’s developed Speckle Park breed that has caught fire around the globe. The breed bestows many virtues…calving ease, ideal frame size, etc. etc., but what sets this breed apart from their counterparts, is carcass value and feed efficiency. Speckle Park beef leads all its competitors in marbling, as well as taste and tenderness values…the difference is on the plate!

The Notta Ranch program sets the bar higher each year! Jason and Sara have been Canadian National Premier Breeders for three consecutive years, Premier Exhibitors for the past two, only losing the 2015 award to their sale partners, Gary and Donna at Ravenworth. This past November at the 2017 Canadian National Show at Agribition, Notta Ranch were breeders of the National Champion Female exhibited by McAleer Ranching, breeders of the National Champion Bull, “Cause n Effect” and breeders and exhibitors of the Reserve National Champion Bull, “Hawkeye.” They again dominated the breeders herd and exhibited several class winners. But winning ribbons is not what the Notta program is about. In addition to producing a superior product, they are endless promoters of the breed whether in downtown Maidstone, Saskatchewan, Denver, Colorado or Sydney, Australia. Each year the goal is to produce more bulls to supply the rapidly growing commercial market! Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATIONS: Each purebred animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Speckle Park Association.

A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

HEALTH: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.
