BRANDING THE BEST BULL AND FEMALE SALE 28 years in the making…we welcome you to our First Annual Bull Sale to be held at the ranch. Without the ongoing support of our family and friends, as well as all of our loyal customers, this would not be possible. We thank you. We had a busy summer this year, co-hosting the Saskatchewan Angus summer tour. It turned out to be an amazing affair, with 140 people showing up from across the country. We thank everybody that came out to make it such a great event. We are pretty excited about this bull pen. Our red group has developed into an impressive group. The infusion of some new herd bulls is showing results. As always, there is an excellent group of calving ease candidates. This year however, we have added a few more performance type bulls that will sire some heavy F1 steers and females that will be in high demand.

The black pen is anchored by several “swiss army” type bulls that can be used on cows or heifers. Bulls that will provide the springtime convenience you desire but the performance to get paid in the fall. We started with 107 purebred bull calves last spring. Performance, structure, fertility, calving ability and maternal merit all go into consideration when selecting the bulls that make the cut. The group before you represent the best we have to offer. If we wouldn’t use them, they hit the steer pen. The bulls are not creep fed, the weaning weights you see are what their mothers were capable of producing. They were weaned on September 30 and put on a diet of grass hay, ground oats and supplement. In early December, they were transitioned to corn silage, tub ground hay, oats and a 32% supplement. The diet was formulated to target a 2.5 lbs. ADG. Our purebred cowherd is managed next to our commercial cows. We strive to extend grazing days and were able to keep the cows grazing right up to calving this spring. This same idea translates into the bull pen, striving for athletic breeding bulls, passing on traits you desire for years to come. The bulls will be semen tested and fully guaranteed. We kind of want to do this as a career and the only way we can is to ensure that you are satisfied. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. There isn’t a perfect bull in the pen. We will give you an honest appraisal and where we see each bull fitting into a breeding program. We will be selling some top grade commercial replacement females to begin the sale from several of our customers. I am just as excited about these heifers coming as the bulls. We found Cassanova at Ron and Laurie Hunter’s in Didsbury in the spring of 2016. We searched through a lot of Red Angus bulls that spring and were more than happy to own him. He is an impressive herd sire, blending incredible length of spine, a square foot, exceptional docility with a great muscle pattern. I could stand having 100 cows like his mother. You might think we are crazy using a 94 lb. birth weight bull on heifers but we did with no issues. His calves are as long as the 2018 winter.
